voiceover October 29 Share October 29 5 hours ago, Jane Tuesday said: [Salvador Perez] sounds like a very special person! In Kansas City, it’s George Brett, Patrick Mahomes, and Salvy: the Immortals. Here’s a most recent example of the kind of man he is: a month or so before the end of the season, he happened by a group of boys, playing whiffle ball in a backyard. He joined in the game, and the boys spent an afternoon for the ages, trying to field Salvy’s whiffleball shots 🤣 It turned out well for all involved: the next week, Perez had a monster surge at the plate for the Royals, and the neighborhood gang was invited to a home game, where they met the players & were showered with all manner of baseball paraphernalia. Plus, there’s that smile. 1 3 Link to comment
Magog October 29 Share October 29 Dodgers 4 - Yankees 2. Meh. Freddie Freeman got another homerun in the series. A 2 run homer in the first & that was pretty much it. Yay. Link to comment
twoods October 29 Share October 29 Is that a record for his fifth consecutive WS game with a home run? Unreal. Hoping he has a sixth and the Dodgers seal it tomorrow just to see the Yankees fans all pissed off. I know it won’t happen since they have to show up at least one game, but a girl can dream. 6 Link to comment
Carey October 29 Share October 29 People all over Social Media is saying "IT'S OVER". To be fair, nobody cancelled game 4. Which is the only reason why I'd argue that it's not over. That's it. Period! LA might as well bagel the YANKS. Just surprise people to where Ohtani pitches at a level where 27 men get up to bat, and then 27 men go down. Zero base runners. OR, pay tribute to 20 years ago. It is the 20th anniversary. So it'll be fitting that the Yankees actually become the first team to overcome a 3-0 deficit. That would be wonderful. The problem is that I'm in 2024. So we're close to that, but Mister Boone pulls Cole or whomever after they retired 26 batters up 3-0. In Game 7. Here comes a bad call where someone that should be out is safe. A walk & HBP later, Freeman shows up and goes yard. A perfect opportunity to overcome a 3-0 series lead, and Aaron said no thank you. That's a dream. Because I'm not getting to Friday (in terms of the Fall Classic). Until proven otherwise. Link to comment
Lantern7 October 29 Share October 29 (edited) Well, at least the Giants shit the bed as well. At least the Yankees have the hope of winning four straight to get the trophy. Giants fans might as well come to games with bags over their heads. Seriously, it's not like the team will be blown up. The core is under contract for next year, right? ETA: I confess to being a little tickled Yankees fans would get their own Hall of Fame-bound bogeyman. I get tired anytime I think about Chipper Jones. Juan Soto is a free agent as soon as the WS ends. The Yankees traded away a lot of young talent to rent Soto for a year to win the WS in 2024. Gleyber Torres, who the Yankees were probably going to let walk, is also a FA. Gerrit Cole can can opt out of his contract, should he so desire. The Yankees have a club option on Anthony Rizzo for 2025. Verdugo is a FA. Jazz Chisholm is a FA Clay Holmes is a FA. Tommy Kahnle is a FA. Edited to add: I might be wrong on Jazz. He may still be under team control in '25. I have to check further on him. Edited October 29 by ProudMary 1 Link to comment
Magog October 29 Share October 29 I wouldn't be surprised if the Dodgers bullpen team find a way to win the game tonight & end this World Series. Its flat out a "root for neither" type of World Series for me. But, it really made me chuckle that Stephen A Smith is pissing & moaning that his Yankees are losing & might get swept. 3 1 Link to comment

Honestly, this *almost* makes me root for the Dodgers. What an ignorant ass. He needs to just admit he doesn't understand baseball and stop giving his horrible takes. Carey October 30 Share October 30 Too bad it's not the 80s, but it is 2024. So I guess a George hologram can show up and kick out both Aaron & Brian. Speaking of kicking out someone. Pitching to Freeman (especially when nobody is on) is not right. Though I am sort of happy that he got the record. Given the fact that I'm not a fan of someone just simply tying a record. twoods October 30 Share October 30 (edited) If the Dodgers give up the lead, he may get fired depending on how they lost. Today’s was inevitable because it was a bullpen game and the Yankees were bound to wake up. If Roberts does his usual dumb decision making like he’s done in the past he will definitely get canned. Wondering which Flaherty will show up tomorrow. I’m guessing the series will go back to LA for a tense game 6. Edited October 30 by twoods 2 Link to comment

Carey October 30 Share October 30 Man, if only New York had held in Game One. While the chances were still there for the AL Champions in Games 2 & 3, this Fall Classic would have lived up to its billing. Carey October 30 Share October 30 While I admire both teams, I gotta agree today.
