The thing about the Hillary sketch is that Hillary really has adopted a crazy-sounding manic laugh and other tics in the past few years. I thought Kate nailed those elements. Hillary wasn't always like that, but I think she had a lot of media training since she lost to Obama in the last round of presidential primaries, and now she has a really different affect than she used to. Some of it seems to have been geared towards making her seem less threatening and more likable to her detractors, who seem to find her "ball-breaking" and "unfeminine"-- but since it's all so un-natural to her, it comes off a little bit off a times, like she's trying too hard or just somehow isn't fitting in her skin. It's like, in her heart, she wants to sabotage these efforts because she knows it's obnoxious, sexist bullshit, but she also has the desire to win and take advice from people who say this will help her do that, and those two forces are competing. So on that level, I think Kate's impression is accurate, but maybe a little ahead of the public's general perceptions, because unless you really follow the Clintons, you might not have seen her new facade.

I thought Empire was awesome -- being a fan of the show definitely would have made a difference in your enjoyment, I think.  The cast really, really nailed most of the impressions.  Keenan doesn't look a thing like Terrence Howard, but he nailed the voice.  Cookie and her assistant were dead on.  And the broom scene actually happened in the show, so having "the white guy" walk in on it (and back out) was extra funny.

I have no doubt it will get a lot of internet hits, whether the studio audience grasped it or not.

I didn't realize Empire is a actual TV show, so I didn't get that one.

I loved Kate's Hillary. But to be honest, I mean Hillary has been around for SO long now that whose impression of her is going to be formed at this point by an SNL impersonater? Is there anyone in this country who isn't already overly familiar with her?

I thought it hit the mark- everyone who's done her seems to latch on the insincere, power hungry, ambitious nature of her desire to be president above all else. I thought the article was pretty dead on that Amy Poehler was far too sympathetic towards her (it was obvious what a fan she was). This one seems more accurate to her public persona, but I don't think it will hurt her at all- everyone already knows how she is. In fact, I'd go so far as to say most people already know right now whether they'd vote for her or not.

When the chicken first appeared, I thought it was fake, because it behaved so well. Nice job of the show to find a chicken that could act! Animals are a total roll of the dice; who can forget "Mrs. Ed" of many years ago, a horse that couldn't stand still for two seconds (and shoved its rear in the camera at one point, IIRC)?

I'll never get tired of the Porn Stars (although they're not, anymore!). I like how they say they're doing it to get free stuff. What company would give free stuff to a couple of airheads who can't even properly pronounce the name of the product? So stupid. I love it.

Everyone in the chicken skit was awesome, especially the chicken! She looked almost groomed and fluffed out. Chris was great handling her, too.

I'll be glad when the pornstars are put away for good. Seeing it once or twice is enough, otherwise they just rehash the same things with them.

I don't watch Empire so I didn't have a point of reference for it, but it was bad to me, making me think of all clips of the ATL howives on The Soup.

The drama teacher skit was the worst one of the night for me, but then I've never been a Kenan fan, so there's that.

I'm not a fan of country music at all, but had heard of Zac Brown. In fact, just a few years ago, he moved to the GA town I was living in at the time. He seems to be a good guy because he gives back to his community and was trying to establish a camp for special needs kids there. Hope it all works out for him. Chris Cornell...I thought that was him, asked my hubby (who is a big fan of his) but he totally didn't recognize him. lol He still sounds the same as in his Sound Garden days, although the audio was all sorts of wonky for the second song. The music was too loud or the mics weren't on or loud enough for the music. What a shame as it was pretty good, from what I could make out.

Dang! Kate is making a difference. (No one cared when Vanessa did Hillary, except to say she was terrible.)

What a pointless article. The headline might as well have been "Capable SNL cast-member does decent political impression like many before her." If there is one person in this country who made an opinion of Hillary based on that cold open, I'm moving to Canada tomorrow.

Dick in a Box was unbleeped when it ran originally; it was only when they played it for specials in Primetime that they bleeped it.

Strike that. Reverse it. It was bleeped on the first airing because it was the Christmas episode. When Justin sang that line during the 40th anniversary opening, it was unbleeped.
