editorgrrl March 1, 2015 Share March 1, 2015 Speaking of the blender, did Rick stash a gun just outside the Alexandria walls? (Like he buried a bag of guns outside Terminus.) And why'd the gun have a "J" on it? That must be significant. 2 Link to comment
kikismom March 1, 2015 Share March 1, 2015 Was it a Bullet blender? Too bad it wasn't a Ninja; then Michonne could hide her katana. You've all been great, buy my CD in the lobby on your way out! 4 Link to comment
mandolin March 1, 2015 Share March 1, 2015 I wondered about the letter J on it too. And hiding one gun in a blender seems a bit silly compared to that whole bag right outside of Terminus's fence. 2 Link to comment

Is "J" for Judith? A mark Rick would recognize if someone turns up with a gun that has that marking? I don't think they have extra guns to put in a duffel bag; Aaron is with them and they would all be expected to have come armed from the outside. If they showed up empty-handed, and Aaron remembers that they were armed in the barn he would tell his group to search for the weapons outside (and maybe jail or shoot the newcomers.) At Terminus they had enough weapons to leave spares. 1 Link to comment

ghoulina March 1, 2015 Share March 1, 2015 I rewatched and they didn't show Rick leave OR take the blender gun. The scene closes on him putting the gun IN the blender. But that's it. I can't really say what I think he did with it, but if I had to guess, I imagine he left it there? I mean, I suppose he could have put it in the blender to try and bring an extra weapon into camp unnoticed. But why would he even go in in the first place if he thought he'd have to disarm. Terminus...been there, done that. 2 Link to comment
mightysparrow March 1, 2015 Share March 1, 2015 So, Rick laid in a coma for two months, and as Nashville and others pointed out, he had no food, no water, no catheter, no care...he should have been dead. Not only was he alive, he was able to get out of bed, descend stairs, hike across town, ride a bike to the burbs where he and Lori lived, then get his head whacked with a shovel hard enough to take him down. Was up that night, no concussion, no aftereffects. The man is a saint. Said no one ever. Carl got shot and lost so much blood he had a least 4 transfusions, 19th century level surgery, unconscious but up and around like any other little boy stealing guns and provoking corpses. Somebody up there likes him! Michonne got knocked out by Merle and thrown in with Andrea for a ride to Woodbury, got knocked out being pistol-whipped by the Governor, and awoke with no residual effects....no one suggested a halo. Daryl fell off a cliff and lay unconscious and hallucinating for however long but was back to normal and nobody here notified the Vatican, we just moved on. mighty sparrow : The only time I've seen Carol described as a saint, as a queen, or as Boadicea is in your posts. It was meant in a derisive way, but nevertheless TPTB have hardly portrayed Carol as a faultless person. Carol, as well as the rest of the characters, has drawn much critiscism on these threads. Every single character on the show has made terrible mistakes. Every single one. No saints, no martyrs. It's like a hive mentality. Say a word against the Queen Bee and let the buzzing begin. I've spent way more time talking about a character I dislike and actually find boring. I leave her to her disciples who are welcome to her with my compliments. Link to comment

Rick made anyone new disarm before entering the prison, Michonne and even Andrea who had been part of the group. He searched Father PeePants before even starting a conversation, searched Aaron before letting him in their barn...I would say if you have a shelter, expecting strangers to put down their weapons can also be done by good people. Now he would expect the same from them. even if they aren't like the Termites I don't think he would put it in the blender without leaving it behind. Can you imagine Hi, I'm so glad to have a place to live, it was so hard on the road but no matter how we starved or dehydrated or were forced to fight reanimated corpses, I never let go of my lucky blender. Now I can make smoothies again. I think the blender would raise more eyebrows than a gun. 6 Link to comment

catrox14 March 1, 2015 Share March 1, 2015 Well, we did get that in s1 and that was kind of awful in the end. :(. But maybe it's because they were drunk on wine. Tequila might just bring out the brutal truths. I'm in. 3 Link to comment

Bongo Fury March 2, 2015 Share March 2, 2015 (edited) Look closer. I don't have to, you made the claim, it's your responsibility to back up what you say. Show where Carol critics are systematically shouted down by a 'hive mentality'. Not just a random post here or there countering your criticism, show this Hive Mentality that you claim exists here. We need proof or you need to retract the claim (an apology would then be to your discretion). Because your claim is insulting. Edited March 2, 2015 by Bongo Fury 4 Link to comment
CletusMusashi March 2, 2015 Share March 2, 2015 I hate Rick, at least as leader, which is a way more unpopular opinion than hating Carol, someone who doesn't even have dialogue in half the episodes. That means a lot of people disagree with me openly. I don't call them Rick cultists or whatever, I just continue the conversation. Which, honestly, if everybody did agree with me, would be kind of a pointless conversation to have, right? 5 Link to comment
catrox14 March 2, 2015 Share March 2, 2015 I don't really understand why it matters how many commenters like a particular character or don't. I mean isn't the point to just have fun discussion about this show without feeling like you are either an apologist, an evangelist or a stan? #weird 6 Link to comment
Zanne March 2, 2015 Share March 2, 2015 But I swear someone else called them "roamers" before Aaron and Eric. Anyone? And yes, Glenn did call them "Geeks". I think the Guv called em "biters"? I am amused that they have so many names. No one has just called them The Dead. It's like calling them Jefferson Starships*, just for kicks. *TM Supernatural 2 Link to comment
Pete Martell March 4, 2015 Share March 4, 2015 Watching this again I was surprised at just how good it was - how well-produced and cohesive throughout, how much they balanced tension with heart, how the scenes of characters in thought and debate seemed contemplative instead of ponderous. And I really liked the car scene, the scenes lost in the woods like a horror film, the flare gun... There have been a number of episodes that I wanted to be impressed by but clunky direction and staging let me down (the massacre in the church, for one). I'm used to TWD having good ideas and decent execution, but only having superb work in certain limited moments (for me most of these were in season 4). This was just a great episode - probably in my top 5. And the scene where Michonne told Rick he had to let go of his fear or it would consume him was very possibly the best scene I can remember on this show, which is saying a lot. Danai deserves so many awards. Hell, even nominations. Was Noah lying to Aaron about his ankle injury or did he first hurt his ankle before the hospital? I posted this in Aaron's thread, but since that's now a subforum... I actually think this was, somehow, the best character introduction since the Greenes. They hit every beat just right - his sarcasm, his innate sense of goodness, his sincerity that is just a little slimy so you don't know how much to trust him, his awkwardness, his love and protectiveness toward his partner, his realism without being fatalistic.Ross Marquand also did a very good job of playing Aaron as being strong without overplaying it. I really liked the scene where he told Rick that Rick would have to kill him to keep him away from Eric, and you knew he meant it. I thought Ross and Andrew Lincoln worked wonderfully together and I also liked his work with Steven Yeun. Some part of me worries that this will be a bad thing, because many rough or uneven character intros can lead to long-term strength, so it may be the opposite here, but I was very pleasantly surprised with the casting as well as the writing. They could have easily just played him as a generic smiler to fake us out about Alexandria, or they could have just said, "He's gay," and not bothered with any actual characterization. Instead they made a real effort.I also loved his line about how he'd made it sound like he was making them audition for a dance troupe. 4 Link to comment

Pete Martell March 5, 2015 Share March 5, 2015 Thanks. I remember that, I just wasn't sure if that caused the ankle. I guess maybe it did and falling down the elevator shaft brought it back again. Link to comment
ghoulina March 5, 2015 Share March 5, 2015 I thought whatever happened to his ankle was a pretty permanent thing. How long was he at Grady? I didn't get the impression that it was just a break that needed to heal, but that he had somehow become handicapped because of the incident. Link to comment
CletusMusashi March 5, 2015 Share March 5, 2015 I don't think making their "wards" into faster runners was very high on the Grady list of priorities. Honestly, he's lucky they didn't just chop off the entire leg and replace it with a sewing machine. 2 Link to comment
