S04.E09: Where The Sun Don't Shine

Has anyone mentioned that Olivia supposedly put on the Stevie Wonder album "Songs In the Key of Life", but the song that played, "Don't You Worry Bout A Thing", is actually off "Innervisions"?

I noticed that as well.  So I was hoping she would play "As" from "Songs In the Key of Life." When the other song came on I assumed she had "Innervisions" some where else on the table, and decided to go with that instead.  But with this show and it's inaccuracies...I am sure they weren't counting on people to notice.

This is probably slightly off-topic, but it was Rowan's speech this episode that really made it come to a head for me.  One thing that bugs me so much about B613 is that it throws the show's whole story into doubt.

Is Olivia really this masterful a fixer? Or has her father been manipulating from behind the scenes the whole time. Did dictators negotiate with her because they knew her father was the dark overlord? Did Hollis want her ok on election rigging because he knew getting Rowan's daughter involved was the real way to make something happen?

I don't think we can rule it out now.

Since when is Cyrus someone worth saving? The guy is a complete piece of shit, so every time he invokes the name of James I want to throw up.

This times a million!  James was not the love of his life!  He treats dirt better than he treated James.  I cannot feel bad for Cyrus.  It's a shame because he was my favorite character in the earlier episodes.

I think it's pretty clear at this point that as far as his loves, James comes in third at best.  The first two are definitely Cyrus himself and power.

As another poster on Page 2 said, wasn't Rowan hinting at that very thing?  He said something like "I've removed barriers from your path you didn't even know existed".  But I would say I think most people who go to Olivia go because she's just that good.  How many clients would know that Rowan's Command and not a museum curator?  Wouldn't that be a tightly guarded secret?

I knew as soon as Jake left the room that something was going to happen. Next season: the gladiators team up with Rowan to take out Chair and Veep's conspiracy.

BTW: at least Stevie Wonder still gets to be "standing in the sun".

I seriously want to throw things at my TV when Cyrus brings up James. He a) put out a hit on James and b) pimped him out to Sally's husband. But I'm supposed to believe he really loved James? This is the kind of thing that drives me nuts about this show.

I just about died laughing when Rowan yelled "I can't believe you SHOT ME!!!!" to Olivia after she pulled the trigger on that empty gun.  That's all I remember of Rowan's rambling, self righteous speech because I really couldn't stand this dude and his fancy words any more.  Still wished the sniper could've shot him when he was in the restaurant with Olivia.  I snickered when Maya Pope said to Olivia "Oh cry me a river!" when Olivia made with the waterworks.  I thought she was such a damn bitch until I saw the look on her face after Olivia left the cell.  I think Mom Pope was trying to toughen up Olivia and she was being mean to Olivia for her own good.  Olivia got such horrible, horrible parents, I feel sorry for her.  Let's hope we don't see Rowan Pope and Maya Pope for a good long time; or just see them before they get killed off.

The Quinn and Charlie fight was AWESOME!  I'm glad Quinn can defend herself now.  Charlie use to be such a scary dude and it's great the Quinn took him down a peg.  I don't know if Charlie would've killed Quinn because he seems to be real awfully fond of her.

I'm interested in seeing what kind of relationship Cyrus will have with his new husband, ex-prostitute Michael.  Eh....Cyrus will probably get Michael killed off one day.  Feel real sorry for Cyrus' kid.

Loved the cliff hanger of Olivia getting kidnapped right under the nose of Jake!  I can't wait until the next episode!

See, I thought she said it as a slap in the face. The last time she got caught, Olivia made the President let her go. She clearly expected that to happen again. She's not worried that Olivia's a patsy. She's good and pissed that she's not enough of one any more.

Rowan more or less needs to end up in her little pit with her. It would serve them both right.

I wonder why we didn't get a reaction from Mellie  about the Cyrus sex scandal? Heads would be rolling if it was the old Mellie having the W.H. linked to this kind of blow up. After everything that has happen maybe she don't give a damn anymore.

Neither one, though both are hateable people, HATE their only child.

I agree. However I do think they behave toward and speak to her in hateful ways, and then have the nerve to be shocked when she responds at their level.

Olivia is an adult. I think that train left the station quite a while ago when Mom Pope decided that being a terrorist was more important than being a parent.

Yep. Both Rowan and Maya apparently expected Olivia to be under their thumbs forever and now they've gotten a huge wake up call. Knowing Olivia though, she'll flip flop back to getting Fitz to break laws for them.

I'm catching up on Netflix....but THIS^^^^^ pushed me over the edge.  I love "Don't You Worry Bout a Things" and I was talking to myself during the dance scene, saying "DYWBAT" isn't on that album...hmm, maybe it is....nah it's not"  I had the album, 8 track, cassette, CD and digital versions of Innervisions, I'm pissed that I doubted myself.
