S07.E03: Clear And Present Danger

I think the inconsistency regarding the ring is because when they film close-ups of Beckett's hand, it's not Stana's. When they're in bed in that scene and she puts a hand on Castle's cheek, you can see that her nails are shorter and more round, yet in the close ups her nails are square. So I don't think Stana actually wore the ring in the making of this episode at all. It's the hand-model that wears the ring in the close-ups.

I think this episode just made it on my top ten list. To say I was surprised that we got a scene like that - and in the middle of the episode - is an understatement. I almost dropped my laptop, LOL. And I liked the interruptions; they were very plausible and not over-done and cheap.

It so refreshing to have that scene suddenly pop up there when I was least expecting it. Normally they always have Castle and Beckett as these bookends and it was getting sad and predictable, the end scenes especially felt dull and lifeless with their glass of wine on the sofa routine.

As for the ring saga, I dread to think how they'll cope when they get married but even if it's a stand in for Stana in some of these scenes how difficult is it for the prop people to make sure they all wear a ring when they're filming each day?  Didn't they have a number of copies made?  It can't be that onerous, you put the ring on when you get to work and you take it off when you go home.  It's not a big deal but it would be nice if they could get it right.

Big ups to the cast and crew for this episode. It was a lot of fun to watch. For the first time in a long time I remembered why I love this show.

THIS. I'm with Elysium ... it was the first time in a long time that the show seemed effortlessly fun for me, which made it infinitely more entertaining.

It's a lot easier for me to handwave the little things when I'm having fun and enjoying the show. [Could the girlfriend have killed the guy and manhandled both Castle and Beckett that way? *handwave*martial arts background*handwave* Back to the banter.] More of this, less 'new mythology,' please.

What a great episode. My wife and I loved it but I have to point out the holes. 1. No way would have ex-girlfriend invisible woman been able to get up after Castle threw her into a glass table that completely shattered. Of course, 3XK took several bullets to the chest and fell several feet into the river and barely had a limp. 2. How did the invisible ex-girlfriend choke Becket when Stana is a good 5 inches taller than her? 3. Apparently taking off clothes and changing is a super power in the Castleverse as both the ex-girlfriend can put on a full body suit in less than 2 minutes and Becket can take off all her clothes faster than Jim Carey in Bruce All Mighty. Now, I can buy the invisible ex getting the DVD from the evidence room. She would just wait until someone was brought in. Wait until the guard took a break. Get the DVD out and then wait until someone came back in to slip in and out without problems. Of course, at this police station, evidence goes in and out without no one batting an eye.

Other wise, what a great episode and I feel for Ryan. I have only one kid and my wife has been unemployed for a few months, so money is tight with us. Sadly, I've seen couples making the same as us and have 3 kids, outstanding credit card debt and still have money to spend and so things and I always scratch my head how they do that when I do the same. However, if Jenni chose to leave her job to be at home mother, then that is a question of thinking it was good on paper and then with just Ryan making the money, she should think about going back to work since Sarah is almost a year old now.

I think most U.S. teachers do have unions--they're currently on strike in a neighboring community. But the faculty at the college where I work just get 3 months paid maternity leave, or they can take 6 months at half pay. And then they only hire the equivalent of half a person to fill in, so the coworkers have to work extra, but if they're hoping peer pressure will stop people from having babies, it's not working very well.

I don't even know that that's standard. In the US FMLA requires a company provide at least 12 weeks of unpaid leave, but that's it. It's basically there to ensure a woman doesn't lose her job or insurance by having a baby. Teachers unions have probably negotited at least some paid leave, but I'm pretty sure around me it's not 3 or 6 months.

One of my pharmacists just had twins - she came back after 8 weeks. (I can't imagine.)

Basically the US sucks at parental leave (I think it's actually at the bottom of the list worldwide, especially considering not the 1950s and it's not really possible to live the American Dream on one salary). If you can find a job that provides any sort of parental leave, count yourself lucky.

In specific Castle news, it looks like Castle held steady at a 2.0/~9.5million (before adjustments). That's good. And hopefully the awesomeness of this episode translates into a bump next week. ;)

I don't normally rate Christmas episodes (or Christmas for that matter) but since the Creaseys are writing the "X Mas episode" I'm enthused. I hope and pray they can keep the excellent Castle and Beckett interaction going and I'm looking forward to something good not gimmicky.

Castle: Clear and Present Danger – A Good Cop/Bad Cop Review by Lee Lofland.

Lee enjoyed this episode, speaking of Ryan and his second job, I thought it was interesting what he had to say on the matter:

1) Cops, as a rule, do not earn a lot of money. Therefore, many officers work part-time jobs, including security. However, it’s unlikely that a department would permit an officer to work in a place that could be deemed unsuitable.

I guess that rules out a strip club.

How will I ever watch the episode all the way through if I keep stopping at the makeout scene and rewinding to make sure it really happened?  Heh.  But really, count me in with everyone as being shocked (and celebrating, woohoo!) that we finally, finally, got an honest to God makeout scene.  In bed!  With real kissing!  Hot and not awkward, thankfully.  I'd really given up on expecting one.  They could have just kissed tepidly for a few seconds before Martha did her kisses interruptus act (Marlowe's M.O.) but in a Castle first ;), they actually chose to give us a heated, passionate make out scene for more than a few seconds before the cued interruption.

Great that we finally got this, but man, this is completely the kind of vibe and scene they should have delivered on when the romance was new and it was the proclaimed (more like mythical) honeymoon period!  The scene also shows that they are completely capable of delivering (writers, actors, director, editor) a sizzling, hot scene when they have the mind to do so.  So for frak's sake, please do it more often instead of holding back on it for another few seasons.  It's really not rocket science, or should I say, cloaking science. ;)  Let's hope this is the beginning of a new era...

The chemistry was back in a big way this episode and when you see it in all its glory, you've got to ask why isn't it being unleashed to its full potential every week? Chemistry gold with actors doesn't come along easily so again, for frak's sake, writers, please use it when you have it at your disposal!

OK, back to the makeout scene. :P  Loved the foreplay at the precinct and the flow from Beckett pushing him there to pushing him onto their bed.  I liked that she got her push and he got the rollover move.  Equal partners.  Both alphas, right? Heh.  Noticed that Stana's hair got a bit in the way of their kissing and Nathan probably got a mouthful of her hair heh (despite her practiced move of trying to get her hair to one side not to block the camera).  Same thing happened in the Always scene.  But they quickly corrected that in the second kiss as they both pushed her hair out of the way.  I did like seeing Castle sweep away Beckett's hair. The touch and the pause added some tenderness to the heat.  Some of their kisses and their physical movements in those scenes have come off as awkward in the past, but I'm glad to say that I detected no awkwardness here.  Just 2 people in the heat of passion.  Thought Beckett bringing up the amnesia was a bit of a moodkiller but the competitive spirit between the 2 of them is in character.  That kind of banter probably gets them in the mood than not heh.

Bedhead Castle was cute even if Martha killed the mood.

Only nitpick about the makeout scene was the lighting (lack of)!  So dark!  As much as I tried, I couldn't make out Castle's expressions in bed on my laptop at all.  Beckett's face I could see clearly but that was about it.  It'd be nice if we could have seen both faces to strengthen an emotional connection with the audience.

Besides that my favorite part was Castle using the random uniform as a resting post when Beckett was teasing him about wearing the Valentine's Day outfit.

I loved this bit!  Cracked me up.  Wonder if was an improv.  I thought it was LT at first, but maybe not?  I would also like to see Castle the gift ninja gift Beckett more creative gifts than jewellery and lingerie!  She's definitely still the winner with the drawer in my book.

BUT THANK YOU JESUS FOR THAT BLACK LEATHER JACKET ON NATHAN.  It looked great on him.

Coated linen, apparently.  Who knew?  I did like that jacket but I didn't like the one at the end with the green shirt which looked a bit old-fashioned to me.  I guess I don't like all the Castle jackets with big chest pockets which bulk up the jacket.  Now, I, along with the gun totting receptionist, loved Beckett's leather jacket!  No coated linen there heh.  Beckett in a biker leather jacket with a white tee is one of my favourite badass looks for her.  Better than the black turtleneck in my book.

I laughed out loud several times.  I can't quite remember what they were all about.  But it was funny.

The case was still a bit meh, but the sharper, wittier Caskett banter made a real difference to the quality of the episode and kept me engaged.  There were some funny lines more reminiscent of the Castle of old.  They weren't the dumbed down kind of funny or slapstick, which they've shifted to in recent years.  More of this kind of funny, please.

Bean burritos.  Beckett had some funny comeback lines about the devil.  (This is the only show I watch where devil talk is normal lol.) Castle's "I was right".  Heh.  Lie of omission.

Theory building banter as foreplay.  Mind melds.  More, please.  The fire extinguisher mind meld moment and smiles were gold.

And she called him sexy -- he makes nerdy look sexy.  Hells yeah.

Hell yeah x 2.  More of making nerdy look sexy, please.  With both Castle and Beckett.  They can be nerdy sexy in the same as well as different ways.  Don't forget the sexy follow through, please.

Creaseys did a much better job of making nerdy, geeky references fun AND sexy than AM and others have done in the past (the video game and Scrabble episodes that shall not be named).  Zombie Apocalypse preparation, the GoT like video game complete with real life swordplay, the heat sensor googles were all fun in the context.  They were used to show Castle as being smart and sexy, instead of an annoying doofus who would turn down his girlfriend to play with his toys.  Castle's geeky side with Alexis was used to show them having fun together in the early season and I think they should be used first and foremost as a source of fun rather than to create conflict.

Thought they might have made Tory a fellow fan of the game to give her a non-COTW moment!

I would like to see a storyline where Espo is made fun of by Ryan and Castle for a change.

Martha's screams were a bit... creepy?  Didn't expect Susan to have such a high pitched scream?  Maybe that's where Castle gets his from heh.

All in all, a fun, funny and sexy episode that brought to life a lot of the elements that make Castle enjoyable as well as crafted a good, long-awaited makeout scene.. Well done and please keep it coming.

Fingers crossed that we'll be seeing Caskett in their invisibility suits in bed sometime soon!

ETA: So 'being watched' isn't part of Beckett's kinky past? Heh.  Anyone else waiting for a Castle joke there?

Coffee with a heart!  Too bad they didn't take a breather in the scene to share some smiles.

I was wishing that Caskett was around for Espo's comment about married women not wearing body glitter.  They really need some details about this kinky past of Beckett's.

Castle seems like a real romantic, you would think he'd have some good, unique gift ideas if he tried. Maybe we'll get that in the Christmas episode.

Jenny is supposed to be a teacher.  I would think she'd make more as a teacher than Ryan would as a bouncer at a club.  I understand the child care cost element, or just wanting to stay home with the baby, but it's silly to think that Ryan can have 2nd job when he works odd hours.  When he arrived at the crime scene, he'd come from work, how did he get out of the 2nd job with no notice to come to the first?

Link to comment

Yep. I agree. The only part that made me laugh was when the COP suggested the guy IMPALED HIMSELF, and the writer had to say, uh, hey, what about the five hundred other clues? I mean, I don't want them to make Castle stupid, but c'mon!

I think an interesting case would be where they think they have all these suspects but they can't prove that any one of them did it and in the end it turns out it was accidental suicide or something. I'd like to see something like that play out, just for the reactions of the Castle and Beckett.

Noticed that Stana's hair got a bit in the way of their kissing and Nathan probably got a mouthful of her hair heh (despite her practiced move of trying to get her hair to one side not to block the camera).

After Martha's interrupting scream, when they're sitting on the end of the bed, he moves like he's trying to get the hair out of his mouth. I wonder if that was just a result of all the hair flying around.

I've watched the middle makeout scene more than I'm comfortable admitting.

I loved this bit!  Cracked me up.  Wonder if was an improv.  I thought it was LT at first, but maybe not?

No, definitely not LT. I don't know that we've seen this particular uniform dude around before.

This was definitely the best episode in a while and I'm still fully on Team Creasey. The fact that they were Castle watchers and Caskett shippers before being paid to be those things really seems to make the difference. Working so close to any product, it can be hard to keep a good perception of what your customers will want, but the Creaseys are just so good at it. MilMar and Amann should take notes.

Well, it does feel like an invasion of their privacy.

I wonder if it's just that they haven't been doing it as long as MilMar.  They're not as burnt out about it.

One thing I noticed is that the Creasey actually had 3 different story lines going on in this ep. We had the A COTW plot, B Caskett trying to get it on plot and C plot of Ryan's 2nd job. No wonder the ep seemed so fast and flowed together. Ryan and Espo weren't had their own subplot that was their usual explaining fairy. Now can they give Torybot a personality cause officer in evidence had more personality that her. Lol Maya is Hydra tech girl on Shield and recites her lines just like on Castle.

Lol, I think after reading slash rpf nothing really seems that creepy anymore. Anyways, I wonder how Martha didn't notice the light being turned off or that commotion that Castle was practically cleaning out the kitchen to make his elaborate pots, pans, cooking utensils zombie alarm.

Also there apparently was music (all Beckett could hear was the music, no invisible watchers), so how did Martha not reasonably know someone was in the bedroom. I mean, she doesn't have to automatically assume her son and his fiancee are getting it on, but it would be reasonable to assume someone was around.

Know Martha she probably arrived home and straight away made a beeline for the bedroom to get floss. So totally missed the destruction of the kitchen before hand.

I actually thought they were making a point of showing Beckett wear the ring more after Castle's disappearance, but I guess that was wishful thinking (not that I mind her not wearing it that much). I just can't believe they made such a mistake on continuity.  The ring was in the close up when Beckett was digging through the evidence box too.

Someone has to be dumb every episode, and this week was Martha's turn?  Or maybe there was supposed to be a time lapse and Caskett was making out awhile after setting the trap, but before she walked in?

Lovely, fun episode.

I laughed out loud and was entertained.

They raised the bar pretty high this week. Will they be able to clear it again this season? We'll see.

I will say that the episode was rich with the "I want you" note, but I'm still waiting to see that "I love you" note. I miss seeing Castle taken aback by something Beckett says like he did in the opening scene of Always. For me, that was "I love you". As they seem to be revisiting scenes and reactions from other episodes I'll assume they're saving that type of reaction for the wedding.

I'll watch as much of this as I can. Solar eclipses happen with more frequency than Castle and Beckett getting hot and heavy, so thank you to the fans who can extend my viewing pleasure producing clips like this.

Woohoo! Yeah this so much.

I know some don't care if they see much of anything on the physical front between them too often but this particular fan does. I get fed up with being told to respect their privacy by the showrunner and his wife or being asked to use my imagination or the most eye rolling retort to any mutterings of complaint about the lack of sexytimes "go and watch HBO or a porn channel if you don't like it!" LOL as if the only stage up from what I'm seeing currently on the show can be satisfied going to cable. Hell I could watch just about any network show after 8 p.m. and experience more heat and sexual tension than what I'm seeing on Castle. What fans who take issue with this are asking for is not porn or Game of Thrones sexual theatrics.

A scene like this was long overdue, it's sad TPTB seem to deliberately hold the actors back when you see episodes like this. Fans shouldn't be made to hold out for months on end pleading for a kiss or a brief hug when the premise of your show is a couple head over heels in love solving crime. I don't want to be told they have a passionate, loving relationship all the time, I want to see elements of that on screen. I'm not demanding that every episode you would get something like this but it needs to happen a little more often. You only have look at the overwhelmingly positive reaction to this episode and in particular the Castle and Beckett moments to see how much people loved it. Fans aren't going to get bored of this kind of thing if that's what Marlowe and co are truly worried about.

Oh I don't know. I think the instances are more in keeping with lunar eclipses/blood moons (slightly more frequent than solar eclipses ;-) ).

All I know is I really think the show has changed for the better and I've thought so since 7x01 (with a brief moment of disappointment in 7x02). Is Amann responsible? If he is, then kudos to him.

I note quite a few fans picked up that moment and loved it, little things like that make all the difference because it feels so natural, tender and loving. Such a difference from the usual awkward, stiff poses they often get them in.

I would like to see a storyline where Espo is made fun of by Ryan and Castle for a change.

I would like to see a storyline where Espo was likeable for once, although in this episode he seemed more in character but that's not saying much. I find Esposito gets my back up more than any other despite the fact he doesn't get that much screen time. Poor Ryan he's trying to make ends meet and provide for his family's future by working two jobs, it's hard for the guy and not really a laughing matter if he's worried. Sure it was good to have some follow through from last week but I hope we're not going to get them making fun of him as a tired ongoing gag for weeks on end. I like Ryan and I find he's been the most consistently drawn character on the show.

May be this wasn't the episode for it but I wish they would at some point deal with the seriousness of his amnesia, for most people what he's been through would be a very upsetting and confusing experience that you don't just get over. Perhaps they could have a scene with Alexis or Martha when they mention something which happened during that time and Castle overhears and realises what he's lost and we see that he's still coming to terms with that. Or a scene with Beckett where she briefly comforts him with a hug or kind word. Nathan could sell it with a look or a simple line no question. They don't need to uncover any more of the mythology that they want to keep a lid on but the amnesia side of things could be discussed now and again, not made into a bit of a joke because it can't be that funny to the person who is suffering from it.

Castle leaning on the guard was funny and perfectly done by Fillion, he's a natural at it. I wish the writers would bring more of that side of "fun" Castle to the screen and less of the slapstick stuff that they increasingly find so enjoyable.

Goes to show you that they can have more than one thing going on with various little sub plots and it plays well and the episode skips along, there are so many TV shows out there who do this on a regular basis and the audience manage to cope just fine.  If also feels more organic to me that this happens rather than the plodding pacing and plotting that Marlowe usually employs where only one thing can ever get dealt with at a time and everything else comes to a halt.

If the kisses are anything like the usual chaste pecks on the lips we usually get at predicable intervals I can do without them. I'd rather they had a decent conversation than kiss like that, those tepid kisses with nothing else to back it up of any substance is not genuine intimacy.

Edited by verdana

You don't always NEED to see that to know.

This is where we fundamentally differ. I need them to back it up by showing more, feels like lazy writing frankly because creating a scene and incorporating it into the story would take work and they can't be bothered so this is the short cut to that. They seem to set a lot of store in supposed intimacy that doesn't feel that genuinely intimate to me.

Last season the "good font" scene comes to mind.

Didn't work for me at all, felt like more bait and switch. Lots of innuendo (which appears to be the writers speciality) that went nowhere like usual. I wouldn't mind the innuendo if it went somewhere interesting but it never does, I know it's going to get cut off way before that point. Sometimes I wonder if they forget they're writing for mature adults.

I know Castle and Beckett have sex. People can joke all they want that they act like an old married couple (I think some old folks MIGHT take offense to that) but we do know they get it on.

Saying that Castle and Beckett act like an old married couple is an offence to old married couples - I'm sure they get way more action.

That's why they writer's chose to show other moments as a couple. I know a lot of people didn't like last seasons Scrabble scene. But I didn't know they played board games together and I didn't know that Beckett could beat him at it.

We definitely agree to disagree here, that scrabble scene summed up everything that is wrong with how they write them as a couple it makes me cringe just thinking about it, the writers meant for it to be romantic and funny but for me it was annoying and highly frustrating.

Like Castle making fun of Beckett for picking the movie Valentine's Day or hearing they went to a Springsteen concert.

Hearing about stuff like this bugs me, it was like that casual offside about them walking along the beach in the Hamptons where they collected shells for that ugly picture, that's easy to write but there's no substance there to back it up. It's great if it works for you as a fan but to me it's like meh not interested. The thing is I would be absolutely fine with the mentions of their amazing personal life off screen if their on screen life as depicted by the writers was equally as satisfying - but it's not and that's the problem. So yeah tell me about the Springsteen concert and karaoke in a bar by all means but show me them doing exciting fulfilling stuff alongside that as a couple to get a balance between those two worlds.

Those little beats mean just as much to me as them rolling around on the bed.

Since those "beats" mean little to me with no back up, I'll take them rolling around the bed like last night. I'm shallow like that.

This show has, in the past, been so rich in the hand-waving, "subtext" (to use the term very loosely) and use your imagination excuses, that I have sometimes wondered why they have a show at all! Just give us a 5 minute synopsis of what they've decided will happen and have us use our imaginations to figure out the details. We can "hit the right notes on our own.

Last Monday was a real exception to that. I fear tho, that it has boosted expectations so much that going back to the old ways will completely turn off viewers (except Hal, of course;-) ). I hope that Amann can work his magic.

I loved that opening moment in Always, perfectly played by Fillion especially.

As for this episode, I'm hoping it's not a blip like last season with No 1 Fan which I really loved but that's about the only episode in S6 that I thought was good and harked back to almost classic "old" Castle along with the Creaseys SLTS.

Watching that again gave me so many warm fuzzies!

I've been so meh about Castle since the end of last season that I've had it playing but didn't really pay much attention. I figured tonight would be the same and I'd catch up on some work while it ran but I actually loved it!!! I'm so happy to see the show I love back. It makes me worried what's to come in future eps so I'm trying to keep my excitement in check but we actually got flirting. And kissing! And bed makeouts! (in the dark but still) I thought the whole episode flowed so much more naturally than we've been getting in a long time.

I don't need perfect, just some chemistry and fun. This had that. And I have no shame about watching that mid scene over and over. I've waited SO long for loved up Caskett.

I'm with verdana on this.  All talk and no action doesn't cut it for me.  I need to see the flirty banter and innuendo go somewhere, preferably somewhere fun and sexy and passionate.  This is an aspect of their romantic relationship that I believe needs to be showcased.  Like another poster said, we've waited SO long for loved up Caskett, I want to see as much as possible.  Talk never going anywhere might have been passable back when they were in WT/WT mode, but after getting a couple together, sexy talk should lead to sexy times (or an actual relationship payoff in lieu of that).  Otherwise it's not very satisfying to me if all we see of Caskett is them barely touching and having even less sexual tension than before they got together.  I want to see them enjoy and desire and have fun and be intimate with each other as a demonstration of their love as people in healthy, happy relationships do.  I want physical intimacy along with emotional intimacy.  Sipping at wine on the couch in every episode is boring, not fun and not intimate in either a physical or emotional way.

Since those "beats" mean little to me with no back up, I'll take them rolling around the bed like last night. I'm shallow like that.

*rolls around in the shallow end with you*  Though I do think it's deceptively shallow at times, the 'shallow' stuff adds depth to the relationship too.  The much missed passion quotient!  But yes, I believe more rolling around in that bed can help offset any boredom with the COTW. :P

I was wishing that Caskett was around for Espo's comment about married women not wearing body glitter.  They really need some details about this kinky past of Beckett's.

I was wondering how does Espo know so much about married women not wearing body glitter (gyrating Jenny may be kinkier than believed!) and he seemed pretty familiar with all those strip clubs.  I'd rather Espo not be privy to any details about Beckett's kinky past (or present), if any.  Should be between Caskett alone.

My guess is that G-string joke with Ryan was also a callback to the real life on set joke played on Seamus Dever they mentioned at a panel ages ago.  Something about making Seamus think he had to wear one on the show so he went on this hardcore diet and they gifted him a G-string at the end of it.

Castle seems like a real romantic, you would think he'd have some good, unique gift ideas if he tried. Maybe we'll get that in the Christmas episode.

It would be nice too if we get a seriously romantic gesture in the wedding episode, especially after what happened last time, even if it wasn't by choice.

Caught the sea shells on the wall in the episode.  Sentiment was nice, but the sea shells still look kind of ugly.  I miss Linus!

Someone has to be dumb every episode, and this week was Martha's turn?

LOL.  True that.

Castle leaning on the guard was funny and perfectly done by Fillion, he's a natural at it.

It's these little touches that can add flair and fun to an episode.  It was funny and I liked that it showed Castle desiring Beckett (and it wasn't douchey-funny).  I don't think you can have too much of them showing how much they want each other (still).

Now that we finally got visual confirmation that Caskett do get passionate and make out in bed, we can move onto the pregnancy scare storyline.  Just kidding!! ;)

If this new mythology with Castle doesn't really take off for some reason but the show gets another season who knows may be we will get another soap opera style cliffhanger with Beckett worrying she could be pregnant, with Castle none the wiser as to her concerns and then she gets kidnapped by 3XK (because surely it's her turn) oh wait I've been reading too much fanfic again.

Late to the game. Entertaining episode. I would have loved the Creaseys to be on board as early as the beginning of season five and tell the same story, only with Castle being on a book promotion tour prior the week.

I especially liked the liveliness of the episode, e.g. non-verbal reaction shots in interview scenes that in past episodes could be quite blandly (only focusing on the line and moving on to another line), a few action scenes, and for a change Caskett in action instead of sitting next to each other on the couch.

That being said, I asked myself a few times during the episode: Did they introduce the new mythology just to have an episode about Castle and Beckett being hot for each other? Did I miss the episodes in between where Castle’s amnesia (and all the questions I would worry about) is a mere funny afterthought? Beckett: “You had amnesia for two months, I missed it more.” Adding Castle: “Yeah, but you already have previous experience of missing it being shot and stuff, hehe” …not really funny, either.

Sexual humour is a hit and miss for me on Castle, as it oftentimes feels as if Castle and Beckett are still in the early stages of dating each other or it tends to be a tad on the juvenile side. But maybe that’s what they are aiming for. And I gladly take it over those Hallmark Moments any time. I had to laugh at the scene where Beckett referenced his Valentine’s gift because between the two of them, who is more in need of sexy underwear or clothes in general? The episode proofed my point in the last scene, Beckett naked and Castle in his... well Castle clothes complete with Castle shoes…

As much as I tried, I couldn't make out Castle's expressions in bed on my laptop at all.

I have the same problem. The episodes are really dark on my laptop and TV. As McManda said, if you have a tablet or Ipad, try watching it with those devices. It’s really like day and night. I discovered a whole room behind dark-lit shadowed faces. It’s still not the brightest show I know, but it really makes a difference!

I'm unsure if this should go in the episode thread or Media thread (feel free to move if I'm mistaken), but another board I lurk on mentioned a new The Ryan Report is up on ABC.com if anyone wants to read. In going back to that page, I noticed we haven't had one of these in almost a year. Which is probably why I forget to check the ABC site for them. lol

Know Martha she probably arrived home and straight away made a beeline for the bedroom to get floss.

As you do. ;P

Clearly, I'm coming late to this episode, and I think it stems from being so largely unimpressed with the first two episodes that I just didn't care about keeping up (one of the downsides of no cable, is that there's no threat of running out of room for OTHER things that I want to keep me current on shows I'm not inspired to watch at the moment). But now I'm sorry I waited, because it was really good.

I like that we got some Caskett homelife (and I was happy for y'all who were wanting some sexy fun times for them, even though I'm on the side of not needing necessarily needing to see it), I liked that Ryan and Esposito had a nice little storyline and got to do more than walk into frame, drop some exposition and walk out of frame  even if Esposito was being kind of a tool. And I really liked the case, as I've always been fond of the quirkier ones (vampires/werewolves, time travel, comic book heroes, etc.).

I remember when, I think it was in the zombie episode a couple years ago, Ryan asked Castle if he really believed all his supernatural theory, and Castle was all "No, but I DO believe in messing with Beckett!" and I had a moment of eye rolling and wishing they'd remember that when he was first skulking through the apartment with a stupid expression while looking for the keycard...and then he goosed Beckett, and it was all better. And then there really was an invisible person, and it was *awesome.* (And even though it all turned out to be super secret government technology, this show does a great job of stoking my imagination on crossover stories with other...less based in reality...shows like Supernatural.

Also happy to see some continuity on Ryan getting a second job. The previous episode made it seem more like money was tight (paraphrased: Kids are expensive; how did my parents still manage to give me piano lessons?), and I'm a little torn between preferring that over working himself to the bone now for a college in almost two decades and being glad that what it turned into probably means there won't be an awkward moment where Ryan considers asking for or is just offered unprompted a loan from his rich friend Castle. But I have to say, I love Ryan and Seamus Dever to itty bitty bits, but "bouncer" is not a career I would expect to see him moonlighting as.

I guess now i need to go see what else I've missed...
