possibilities May 12 Share May 12 Huh. The way they ended the episode felt like a series finale, not just a season finale. Does anyone know if they've officially been cancelled? 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8659492
KaveDweller May 12 Share May 12 It was renewed. I may not have totally been paying attention, but Watson basically just killed Moriarty, right? 6 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8659500

Even if you put aside the moral and ethical implications, this just felt very unearned. Watson and Moriarty never really had a relationship or interaction before, so this twist doesn't have much emotional weight. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8659600
AnimeMania May 12 Author Share May 12 "I took the chemicals he gave me and I tainted the AAVs." They were packets of sugar, I thought Ingrid knew how to read. I thought Watson had forgotten about Shinwell since his name didn't even come up once when negotiating for cures. I am surprised that Watson killed somebody, that makes me think that that wasn't the real Moriarty. I don't want Ingrid to leave, so she will probably be back. Scoreboard: Ingrid killed 1 person, Watson killed 1 person, Lubbock was going to kill 1 person if things didn't go her way, sleep with one eye open, scrawny necked Pharmaceutical Rep. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8659602

Does anyone know if they've officially been cancelled? According to The Futon Critic it's still an active show, although that can change any minute now. It just seems weird that they would kill off the ultimate Sherlock Holmes villain in the very first season. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8659672
Cress May 12 Share May 12 Yes, very puzzling finale. You'd think Watson would want to question Moriarty about Reichenbach before killing him. And that "two weeks later" thing just to show Watson dating the oncologist and stuffing the box under his bed. Nothing about whether Ingrid is leaving for a new job, and that they're going to hire a new person? Like, so weird. 8 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8659686
NeenerNeener May 12 Share May 12 Watson is on the CBS Sunday night schedule for next spring, at 10 pm. I suppose a short season is better than no season. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8659756
DanaK Monday at 03:59 PM Share Monday at 03:59 PM Yeah, I too had trouble with Watson killing Moriarty like that; it doesn't sit well, especially because he's a doctor and works to save people. And killing the villain at the end of the first season in a series that is a takeoff of Sherlock Holmes and Watson seems like a bad idea, though this whole overlay of Holmes onto a medical series wasn't working for me too well to begin with. Maybe this will somewhat fix the issue I have with this show, with the Sherlock Holmes lore intruding too much onto a medical show that doesn't actually have Sherlock around. We'll see how Season 2 goes I guess, though that Sunday 10pm timeslot in the Spring doesn't bode well 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8659805

milkyaqua Monday at 05:17 PM Share Monday at 05:17 PM (edited) Agree with not liking Watson killing Moriarty. There had to be another way around that. I understand thinking that killing him was for the greater good but it just made no sense. Frankly, Moriarty had no business being any where near this show. I'm not sure TPTB can fix the mess they've made of this for next season. Trini Monday at 07:03 PM Share Monday at 07:03 PM And another problem with Watson killing Moriarty: the show hadn't established that he had the capacity or inclination for MURDER, when he's been a doctor saving lives this whole time; or that Watson believed in the death penalty for the greater good -- or whatever. (If they had Ingrid do the deed, that'd be a different matter.) So this came out of nowhere, and at the same time it's underwhelming because we hadn't spent much time getting to know Moriarty. On the other hand, maybe the writers get some credit for realizing that the Moriarty part of the show wasn't working; but they could have handled it better. As for the rest: Glad both twins are still here; glad Non-Glasses Twin apologized for dating Glasses Twin's ex, because that whole situation is still VERY weird to me. But I have some hope for Glasses Twin and Texas Dr.; even though romance is not this show's strength. I wish Ingrid would go away, but I'm sure she'll be back. Setting up Watson's new girlfriend was weirdly tacked on at the end there. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8659906
Affogato Monday at 07:47 PM Share Monday at 07:47 PM I was not bothered by Watson’s killing Moriarity, because Moriarity killed Holmes and had manipulated Ingrid into doing things she wouldn’t have done otherwise, had set up the situation with the twins and Shinwell, and generally was able to manipulate the dna of all of them. (I am a bit flummoxed by the cleverness with which they can genetically manipulate people, the delicacy and pointedness of it all, because it seems like magic). I’m pretty sure Holmes would have killed him too. It was logical. He isn’t someone you could lock up and keep safe, nor is he someone who will stop doing harm. Death was the only solution, the logical solution, the deductive solution. I enjoyed the Holmes thread in the show more than others, but I’m glad they ended this thread with the first season. I am in mind that Holmes surved Reichenbach Falls (against Doyle’s better judgement, perhaps) and that is a possible storyline going forward. I rather hope that a few other things show up from Watson and Holmes’ shared past. I hope they get better at plotting. Last episode when only one could be cured my first thought was ‘there is only one bed’, and that shouldn’t happen. I do enjoy this, I hope the streaming helps it survive it’s renewal timing. 17 hours ago, possibilities said: Huh. The way they ended the episode felt like a series finale, not just a season finale. Does anyone know if they've officially been cancelled? I think we all expected they would drag the moriarity stuff out, and the episode didn’t really have a cliffhanger (except for the Holmes box). They have been renewed, apparently. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8659931
babyrambo Monday at 09:38 PM Share Monday at 09:38 PM (edited) It was all a bit tidy, but I’m glad they killed Moriarty (although Watson’s speech to Ingrid about honouring their profession rang a bit hollow after he committed his own murder). He was always too cartoonish for me to take seriously as a villain. Hope he stays dead and that neither he or his minions haunt the second season with silly schemes. I’m sure the doctors will have to face a different Sherlock villain, but I prefer the medical angle and want to see the writing get a bit more clever and cohesive as they tackle more compelling and gritty cases. Because so far they’ve been hit or miss. Like the fellows. Right now, Ingrid, as selfish and callous as she is, is the only one I find interesting because she’s the only one that’s entertaining and complex. The actors are good, but others feel like watered down shades of characters I’ve seen on other shows. Especially the twins, who I think should’ve stayed down for longer. Or at least have to struggle with some side effects of their illnesses, come season two. TV characters hardly ever have lasting side effects, unless the writers want to radically change a character’s personality or kill them. And killing a main character in the first season is a lot, but I wish they’d gone for it, because even after watching them almost die, I’m not invested in either brother. I do like Sasha though. She’s got an edge and I want to see more of that instead of the sweet southern belle schtick. Also hoping she and Stephens split early into season 2 because I don’t care for their so called romance. There’s not one ounce of chemistry & it feels forced and unnecessary. Kind of like Watson’s new relationship. But I like Tika Sumpter’s character. Almost thought she was going to connect with Mary, before the two week flashback. Which seemed like a bit of a waste to have just been about Watson’s relationship update? Unless I missed something. I was thinking if they wanted to eliminate one twin for production reasons, they could have had one sustain brain damage, and then he couldn't be on the team anymore. They could probably still do that in Season 2, but I'm guessing they're sticking with both of them. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8660043
MarylandGirl Monday at 11:09 PM Share Monday at 11:09 PM (edited) I thought the two-week-later update would have included something about the twins' recovery and/or Ingrid's fate, but nope! I don't know that it was worth it just to show Watson's new love interest. Give an update on everyone! Like, is Shinwell OK now? Are Sasha and Stephens together? Guess we have almost a year till we find out... ETA: I just think there was way too much going on in this ep. It felt like they forgot about the twins for a stretch of time there. I wasn't feeling the tension. Maybe I'm just tired! jah1986 Tuesday at 03:19 PM Share Tuesday at 03:19 PM Well I'm glad both twins are okay. I don't know what to think about the end of Moriarty. I said "cremate the body right away". I just don't think this is the end. I hope it is, because Moriarty didn't belong in this show, but Mary and Ingrid both seemed to act a bit out of character. I love Tika Sumpter, so she can stick around. She already has more chemistry with Morris Chestnut than the actress portraying Mary. So many unanswered questions. I hope this was really just a course correction with TPTB realizing they had to get rid of Moriarty. I'm glad Stephens said his peace to Ingrid, she rarely ever faces consequences for her actions. Curious to see what next season brings. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8660568
Dowel Jones Tuesday at 06:56 PM Share Tuesday at 06:56 PM I wonder if the update scene is meant to set the stage for Watson's love interest being a deep plant for Moriarty's group, and that's a plot arc for next season. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153514-s01e13-my-life%E2%80%99s-work-part-2/#findComment-8660742
