Wow, this season is so exciting that nobody has posted about it.  I did watch it later.  I still don't care for Adam.

I liked the opening number by the judges. I'm a sucker though for Tiny Dancer.

If they were bringing Adam back I would have loved it if Blake would have joined him. Would have been fun for one season anyway.

Everything about Kelsea seems fake.

Week 2: Thoughts on some of the contestants: 

Bryson Battle: Sounded really good. I’m glad all 4 judges turned for him

Hayden Grove: He sounded really good and both throwback and modern. I’m not sure why Michael was going on so much about his vibrato yet wouldn’t turn for him. Maybe he felt he couldn’t because of the prior interaction online. I’m glad Adam took him

Susan Hickman: Terrible. It sounded so snoozy and shaky. It sounded like two singers at times. Maybe a backing track was used? Not surprised no chair turned

Ari Camille - Really liked her sound. I’m glad she got a coach

I agreed with the judges on the two that didn't get a chair turn.  Don't really care for Kelsey.

Some really good voices, I'm looking forward to the season.

Glad Michael used his second chance button.  Was surprised Ricardo (?) didn't get a chair turn as I liked his voice.

Blind Auditions Part 3

Favorite performances:

Tinika Wyatt - Fantastic. And no one turned for her!? That just made no sense to me. Their excuses for not turning just sounded lame. Adam did a coach replay and chose her after she sang a little bit of a silly song about Blake or him choosing her she put on YouTube after being asked to do a tryout 10 years ago. Adam’s move just felt planned

Conor James - Especially beautiful start but very good overall

Jessica Manola - It started out low key but built really strongly

BD (Brian Darden) - Terrific performance. A pretty deep speaking voice compared to his singing voice.

I always watch this show for the music and skip the other stuff except for the coach's feedback. That being said, I feel like Adam has been given very strict guidelines about how he is supposed to act this season. He is not being as much of a jerk as he usually does. At least to my eyes. 

I always like John Legend's comments... I find it interesting to hear what he notices, etc..   Michael.... he is an odd duck. Nothing wrong with that, but I find his comments strange at times.  The new girl... eh... not that impressed.

But I actually liked when Christina Aguilera was a judge, so there's that.

Lucia Flores-Wiseman - her vocals were almost haunting or maybe old-fashioned? Yes, like John said, almost like an Amy Winehouse/Janis Joplin mashup but in Spanish feel

The guy who sang Cough Syrup…I just thought it was bad song choice for an audition. I like the song but it didn’t highlight his range at all.

I haven't watched The Voice ever since Blake left, but the second chance button is pressed when no one turns their chair?  Too me, the whole purpose of the coaches turning their chair is because they liked you.  So if they didn't turn their chair initially then didn't like you and it should be "adios amigo"!  I don't like the added fluff!

That I don't mind. We've watched the coaches talk about regretting not turning for someone so many times, now they can do something about it. I get sick of the endless battles, comebacks, steals and the whole thing getting stretched out to end with only two live show. And soul crushing, because after they beg the singer to pick them and promise they will work for them and what a beautiful collaboration this will be... the first thing they do is cut half out. 

I would like to see one season where there's no team limit and they get to pick all the way through. Talented singers get shut out because they have the bad luck to go at the end when only 1 spot is left. They can fill out the season with whittling down the teams in straight competition before all the shenanigans start. 

There is no grouping of coaches where the 'banter' is ever funny.

The Battles Part 2:

Favorite battle:

- Hayden Grove vs Lucia Flores-Wiseman - “My Funny Valentine” - This was really beautiful. They both were on point. They both have throwback sounds, but Lucia especially does, like an old soul singer or something

Honorable mention:

Alanna Lynise vs Brook Wood - “Angels Like You” - This seems like the first breakup song I can remember being performed between two contestants of the same sex on this show or at least something seldom done. It was well done

On tonight’s live show they montaged a battle! Well, half of it. There was sooo much filler but they couldn’t even squeeze in the name of the woman performer? That was low.

They unfortunately have montaged several battles through the Battle shows. That always seemed unfair to the contestants

Apparently, yodeling is the death knell for a contestant (last year and this year!). I was just not seeing the reason the judges were picking contestants tonight. My household seemed to always favor the not chosen.

Knockouts Part 3
I think Olivia was my favorite performer for Monday’s show. The beginning part of Last Dance was so good

Yeah, my household is now thinking we are the “do the opposite” opinion vs the judges. Kelsea’s picks were #4 and #5 to us. Should be surprised but so far the season is going in that direction.

Thought Kelsea got one pick right. Iris was really good coming out of the gate. But we would've picked Jordan country guy over our fellow Buckeye. Didn't think there was really any chance she'd take the Coach's Replay/Save lady or the last guy who did Hey Ya..

Adam had a tougher decision, partially because I think he was really partial to Ethan and probably hated to let him go. I don't really see what he see's in the Latina singer, but it was pretty telegraphed that she was getting one of his two spots almost regardless of what she sang/how she performed. Finesse is one of my guilty pleasure songs, and I will say that Kolby performed the hell out of it (while still sounding pretty spot on too). So I'm not mad Adam went in that direction, we just thought he'd go w/ the Pink Pants/Pink Pony Club dude instead..

I am assuming they teased there will be a Bring Back Artist or Artists (in some format) at the very end of the show, but I don't know that for certain..

Yes it appears that way. You would think they wouldn’t waste these weeks and allow for more live performance shows, but no we can’t have that

Looks like only 2 weeks of lives again this season, since they are down to two each. It occured to me at the start of this last episode I could remember exactly none of their names. Thought Adam chose all wrong, it should have been Pink Pony guy and his last performer. Not that it will matter as once the show is over they will mostly/all return to obscurity. Or show up on American Idol like Thunderstorm Artis.

Gwen again next season? She is so absolutely useless.

Boring songs, boring singers, boring season.

I'm really not pushing for anyone, though it seems like there is a bit less country. It seems like ALL the judges are pushing their own songs for the 'couple dollars of royalties...

The woman who sang “Someone to Watch Over Me” (sorry, bad with names) was the best. She never should have been let go in the first place. Everyone else was ok but not as good.

Sad Olivia didn’t make it through. She was such a lovely singer. 
 

ETA: finally watched the elimination show; Olivia did not sound good, maybe ill? Wasn’t surprised Adam made it through.

How does Lucia keep going through? She has such strange intonation and I realized she's actually very limited vocally. She sings everything the same and doesn't have much range.

It was interesting that all 4 teams got one singer in the top 4.  Michael now has 2 with Adam David making it in.  I was expecting at least one coach to not have anyone in the finale.

Agree.  The viewers get weeks of long drawn out auditions and coaches sessions and two live shows.  At least on that other singing competition show, I actually know the names of the contestants and feel part of it ( although their season is shortened, too).

What has Renzo performed tonight?  I missed just a little bit, but haven’t seen him at all.  I’ve seen the others  do 2 songs each.

He did Lenny Kravitz on one.  Wasn’t too invested in this one. I voted for the guitar guy.  I can’t stand that you only get one vote.

I agree.  I saw the last song.  I like him and the one you voted for.  I doubt I’ll watch the results show.

One of the performances, I think it was “I Think We’re Alone Now” by one of the ladies, was terrible, the worst of the night for me. She was off key throughout the song

Did the cameraman mess up?  At final two, there was an extreme closeup to guitar then it went back to the two, then to the winner. Oops

Jaelen is from my hometown. He did great. So happy for him. I'm ok with Adam David winning. He was very good. Too bad they have stupid fillers and don't give the winner a chance to be interviewed. Arghh!!

I can’t believe I fell asleep and missed the last 10 minutes! Lol. Oh well, I have no issue with the winner.  I like him a lot.

I couldn't watch last night and I got spoiled this morning (in the way I least expected) so I don't really have to watch my PVR now. Meh. I wasn't invested in any of the finalists, but of the choices I would have gone for Renzo. Another 'winner' who'll go nowhere.

I have no idea if it's the case, but I always figured when this happened that the losing singer messed up badly and this show is not about humiliating contestants. It's unfortunate that the winner then also gets the short shrift in terms of exposure to the voting audience.  But with two live shows, voting seems less important than every, anyway.

The filler has become ridiculous. How many recap episodes of the show we just bloody well watched the week (and in some cases the night) before do we need? Zero. The answer is zero recap episodes.

Renzo was the best in my opinion. He should have won.

No offense to Jadyn (?) but when the eliminated contestants came out to sing together, there were at LEAST four or five who clearly should’ve had her spot in the finals. 

The winner was talented but he stayed under my radar for so long. I don’t think he’s going to be very memorable. It is kind of odd how we pretty much always immediately forget who wins this but we keep watching anyway. 

I bet Adam was pissed Lucia came in 4th. Wonder if he’ll come back for anymore seasons.

I enjoyed most of the coach/contestant duets, I think they did a pretty good job with those.

Is this the first time a “save” won The Voice? I think so but don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of the show stats.

Happy neither Lucia or the country singer won. Kelsea turned out to be less useless than Gwen, although still not you know, good. 

Just go back to the format from the first few seasons, where we had a live top ten with one elimination a week.

This season was underwhelming for me. I also did not care for Lucia. All her songs sounded the same - one trick pony for me. I honestly never listened to Maroon 5 so I didn't even know who Adam Levine was when this show started. I am sure I would recognize some of their hits if I heard them but I wouldn't know the band name.  Anyway, I liked Adam's voice and guitar playing in this duet in the finale.

Do we know if he had to comply with stricter behavior guidelines for this season? He seemed much more subdued, but maybe its because his trigger, Blake, wasn't there. 

The dude who won... It was a bit fascinating how Michael was just sooo into that guy! I thought he had a good voice, but I didn't detect anything exceptional there. But Michael was just over the moon.  I mean, think about being a serious musician and you never really get a career, and then someone like Michael Buble keeps telling everyone how amazing you are... that would have to be a real boost even if he didn't win.
