S07.E05: Til Death

Recommended Posts

I could ask some AI bot, but I think I can manage just fine by myself: I predict the serial killer will target Nyla, her family or one of her friends/colleagues. Cause this is what serials killers do on TV, they go after cops.

I confess... I find the Texas rookie 10 times more annoying than Bailey. I even find him more annoying than Elijah. I am not American, but I really dunno  what I would I do if I had to work with someone talking like this, it is not the accent only, he is like a walking stereotype.

Maybe Seth and the Texas dude are both serial killers. Maybe everyone is a serial killer and they are having their annual  convention in LA.

Shame on me (maybe...) but I do not mind what Bailey did, she saved us from another idiot villain. Good job girl!

Annoying fake Texas accent guy was not happy to see his girlfriend.

Right now it seems to be playing that the lifestyle of a cop in a Houston suburb would have a much better lifestyle than being "the best" officer in Los Angeles. Living in his car and Smitty's token rent didn't allow him to save enough to support a partner. Deputy Enos did return to Hazard County after a year on LAPD Metro.

Nolan had the excuse that most police departments wouldn't take an old man.

Yes, I called the Nolan finding out about Bailey and her call the assassin.  I wanted to be wrong but this show wouldn't let that happen.  I don't want to see Nolan and Bailey at odds simply because this entails too much Bailey.  Ugh!

And yes, Lucy needs to let Gray in on Seth.  He's beyond shady and pitying him is going to bite her in the behind and possibly Tim since he also knows.

Texas rookie didn't look happy to see girlfrield because he has no real place to live.  I thought when she called she'd be doing a Dear John which would have made more sense.  Who comes to one of the highest cost of living areas in the U.S. without having plans/job/place to stay, first and I don't mean plans like, stay with my boyfriend.

Nyla is definitely going to be targeted and probably her family and colleagues.  Because of course Mr. Serial Killer will have to prove just how smart he is.

Seriously, can young Houstonians be stupid enough to just quit their jobs and jump on a plane to join their boyfriends unexpectedly in one of the most expensive cities in the country? And Texas Rookie hasn't told Girlfriend that he was living out of his car at first and now is sharing a trailer in a parking lot with a cranky crazy cop?

Blind Rookie is lying lying LYING about the cancer recurrence too.

Don't care at all about Bailey and the crazy ex and the murdering Malvolio. Not too interested in Serial Killer and Nyla. These ongoing plots are too ridiculous to be believable. But still I watch.

Who is playing Mr. Serial Killer, and where have I seen him before?

From Wikipedia: "Seth Gabel (born October 3, 1981) is an American actor. He is known for his roles of agent Lincoln Lee on Fox's television series Fringe, Cotton Mather on WGN America's series Salem, and Adrian Moore on the FX series Nip/Tuck. He is a grand-nephew of actor Martin Gabel."

I don't agree at all with how the writer had Lucy and Tim frame the Seth issue.  It's not simply because he lied a couple of times.  It's not that he lies "on the job," but not "about the job" as Tim put it.  And even in those terms, Seth is in fact lying about the job.  He tosses out his lies as excuses for his poor performance so that performance is minimized and/or the person he is lying to backs off any consequences.  He lied about OD gf because he corrupted a crime scene with his puke, he lied about car crash gf because he did such a piss-poor job photographing the car accident, and he lied about cancer (the first time) because he was late to work.  Now lying about cancer again because he's been caught in his lies!

I'm sure if Smitty lied about forgetting to do something or being late somewhere with the excuse, "I was qualifying for the Olympics," that lie would be treated differently.

It drives me nuts when I see articles do the same mis-framing.  Like Dani Mather, that awful ex-Playboy woman who took a photo of an older naked woman in a gym locker room and posted it to her IG with the caption, "If I have to see this, you do, too" or something like that.  Almost all of the articles about her being expelled from 24 Hour Fitness and facing criminal charges cited the "body shaming" first.  Yeah, she did that, but she is not a convicted criminal because she said mean stuff about how a woman looks.  It was about invasion of privacy.

I agree with all others that Lucy needs to tell Grey about it immediately.  But not "he lied about a couple of tragedies," as she said to Tim.  He lies to make excuses for incompetence.  Tim said, "Grey isn't going to bounce him just because he brags."  Bragging is not the problem!!!  If bragging was the problem, the country boy probie would have been kicked out on Day 1.

I am so tired of this show making their villains such mustache-twirling caricatures.  Jason was out here trying to tie Bailey to some railroad tracks.  I really hope they let Seth Gabel play this serial killer with a more low-key evil.  He can do the caricature villain (the vertigo Count on Arrow, for example) and the shifty maybe-vlliain (Big Sky).  Just let him play it cool.

Also agree Nolan was a total idiot for not suspecting "the drunk girl" who tripped his alarm.  She said she climbed over something to get in, but Nolan has a very tall courtyard door and walls outside his front door.  She did not drunkenly climb over that in her confusion!!!  Come on, you are a non-rookie police officer!

Nyla has poked the bear! Please don’t drag the hunt for Glasser. This show tends to do that with every serial killer. The actor who plays Liam Glasser has a weird hairstyle, I thought he’s wearing a wig. 😬

Am glad Jason is dead, finally! Malvado makes a mistake by killing the girlfriend first because he’s alerting Jason about his presence. Duh.

We all know there’ll be subplots on marital issues between Nolan/Bailey and Nyla/James. UGH. Not looking forward to this tedious stuff.

Seth was a hero cop for a week. Then he pulls a cancer card on Lt. Grey, ensuring his stay in the LAPD. He’s pathologically twisted.

I guess we won’t be seeing Simone Clark talking to Lucy about her guidance counsellor experience in navigating this issue with Seth. 🤣

“My cancer is back, but don’t worry, I’m fine! I can finish my training, no sweat.” I mean, really? Did Gray ask for any Doctor's reports or anything?

Lucy has to tell Gray  about the lying. She was just about to have him kicked out, and he was “saved” by his totally nonspecific cancer. Right.

So, the death promised by the episode title was Jason’s. I knew it was somebody’s spouse, and I guess Jason (sigh) more or less counts. But of course Bailey more than held her own against him because she’s superwoman. And also stupid woman for not getting rid of that burner phone. Though in the end, she didn’t point Malvolio at him, because he wasn’t in Detroit. Still, it’s not going to make for a fun Valentine’s Day next week at chez Nolan.

Fingers crossed🤞 and hoping Lucy and Gray are in cahoots to find out what Rookie Liar is trying to pull, because, you know, it cannot just be that he's a compulsive liar — which is why I'm thinking he's Serial Killer's protege.

Seth would have to have a report from his doctor saying he could continue his training while being treated for cancer. It seems unlikely to me that he would be well enough to do the rigorous job they do on this show and still be getting chemo or radiation treatments.

My husband is a police officer and people undergoing treatment are usually on leave or at a desk job. Of course real life cops aren’t chasing serial killers or snipers every day either. I don’t know how Seth could lie about this because HR would require proof of illness if he requires any type of accommodation and if he claims to be getting all treatments on his days off and remains in perfect health, that would be a real red flag.

Exactly.  I don't many jobs that would take a person's word for it that they have a serious illness without seeing some sort of doctor's note.  Heck, I know my job requires a doctor's note if you're out sick for three days in a row.  Forget about a possible disease that requires treatment like chemo where that person is going to be suffering side effects.

Now that Celine is in the short sleeves portion of her probationary year does it seem like they are putting Lisseth Chavez in form fitting workout gear at a higher rate than anyone else in the cast has been in? First stripping down to infiltrate a suspect's location in an earlier episode and now running while mentoring Seth and Texas..

I did notice her workout gear and I did sort of raise an eyebrow.

He is also the son-in-law of Ron Howard because he's married to Bryce Dallas Howard.  I remember him from Dirty Sexy Money.

so I don't expect a lot of realism from this show, but ...

how did that guy under the trailer hatch door pull the rug all nice and tidy over the hatch after he was under it?

Jason seemed to get hit in the lower abdomen, kidney area. How did he die so instantly? Sure, a hit to the liver would have him bleed out fast, but not die instantly, or would it?

Seems like sloppy something in both places.
