AllAstronauts January 30 Share January 30 How many shows are you following? Way too busy (and lazy) to just run a query directly so figured I'd ask. A spot-check of a random member got me 36 for that guy. What about the rest of you? Just need numbers so I can gauge out presentation for the new Primetimer. That, btw, is NOT happening with the email login changeover on Monday. It's like 80%-ish done, but will never be "done" so it's a question of launch-ready status and that's close. Also no one on staff or ownership has seen a damn thing of what I've done yet so that process has to be gone through as well, once they pick their jaws off the floor... Mr. Sparkle January 30 Share January 30 Personally, I just culled a lot of shows that I had to admit aren't coming back. I currently have 35 shows on my home page, but it may have reached over 50 at some point. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151662-question-for-you-tv-junkies/#findComment-8568281

dleighg January 30 Share January 30 I have 88, but that's because I'm lazy and don't cull them off my home page. I mean, if they're dead shows, so I don't get notifications, they're not bothering me. SoMuchTV January 30 Share January 30 Is there a way to count them, other than manually? If I look at my “followed forums” there are 15 pages, and “followed topics” has 20. I didn’t count how many items per page. (That’s on an iPhone. Maybe different on a pc?) Basically I follow anything I’m interested enough in that I want to see if anyone posts a comment about it. I wish there were a way to get notifications only, without adding it to my homepage, but that’s a different discussion. Apparently (based on responses so far) I’m at the upper end of the range, so feel free to look at my stats, if that’s something you can do. ebk57 January 30 Share January 30 I have 103 on my home page. Some of them are categories, like Netflix, Amazon, etc. in case something comes up on those services that I want to watch and wouldn't know about otherwise. Some are dead shows that I would be interested in seeing any new posts. And some are shows that I want to watch someday, but would forget about if they weren't there in bright orange/yellow to remind me. Which is probably more info than you wanted. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151662-question-for-you-tv-junkies/#findComment-8568311

That’s exactly my strategy - things I’m currently watching, things I watched in the past but still interested in, and things I might want to watch and don’t want to forget about. But I suspect my count is going to be higher than ebk’s. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151662-question-for-you-tv-junkies/#findComment-8568326

DMK January 31 Share January 31 I only have like 20 shows that I follow. Three are active, three have yet to debut and the rest are dead shows that I keep in case someone happens to make a comment. I do have some shows that I watch but I don’t follow or read the forums because the posters don’t seem to actually enjoy the shows and are more interested in chainsawing them apart (Marvel, Star Trek shows). shapeshifter January 31 Share January 31 14 hours ago, AllAstronauts said: How many shows are you following? I'm going to assume you literally mean just "Shows" and not the "Beyond" threads/boards. At any given moment, I am actively reading posts and/or posting to about a dozen shows, however: I currently have 124 shows in my “Your TV Shows” grid. About 10% of them I don't recall at all. However, if a show I'm no longer interested in is still getting a lot of chatter that causes it to clutter my Stream, I will UnFollow it. So apparently I don't bother unFollowing shows that nobody's posting about? It would be nice to have a category on my Stream page (or whatever page most PrimeTimers use) for shows I want to temporarily turn off Following, but don't want to forget about. The bug is in my ear, based on an earlier post. The follow system, and hence "show" vs. "not show"... well... the follow system is that. We just flag out certain forums as "shows" and treat them differently. So, unfollowing... its all a yes/no, on/off toggle. Definitely nothing for this at launch but I have ideas. That said, discoverability is amped up quite a bit already in the new thing. Honestly, aside from the actual topics, you'll not really be able to recognize or compare all that well, the new stuff with what is here now. I've got a free hand and I like to cook. Not *everything* wanted or needed will be up at launch, but nothing is ever done. You guys will doing a lot of "Can we get this? Can we get that?" post-launch and all my replies to those will probably be yes's or near enough but time/money/willingness will come into play, all this assuming most of us aren't fighting the Crypto Wars in various gated retirement communities and abandoned strip malls by then <Lemon, it's Tuesday...> Probably grab a few testers in the next week or ten days. Then clean-up, upgrade tests on dev with site data, and if there are no show-stoppers, that will be that. Target for launch is end of February. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151662-question-for-you-tv-junkies/#findComment-8569656

It sounds like some of this might be related to a suggestion I put out a while ago Basically it would be great to be able to get notifications about new posts on a show/special/limited series without having to add it to my homepage. I keep hearing that “something new” is coming but I don’t know if this might be in its scope. I might get the... not sure what to call it, backlog I guess, of shows you previously followed, and shows you *might* want to follow, that thing in for launch. No notifications or anything like that, just a scratch list really. You can just set up a custom stream you know. Select the things you want to keep tabs on and just view that from time to time. The "something new" will be here by the end of February. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151662-question-for-you-tv-junkies/#findComment-8569702
JustHereForFood February 3 Share February 3 If you mean "follow" as in putting a show in a specific list, I don't do that at all. I just go to the main page and navigate to any show I want to check from there. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151662-question-for-you-tv-junkies/#findComment-8570613
Quilt Fairy February 3 Share February 3 Wow, 153 for me. The standard mix of about 12-15 active shows, a few I don't even remember, and quite a few that were short one-offs or long since cancelled. Also, there are at least a half a dozen such as The Crown, Stranger Things, Wednesday, and Outlander that are (or were) still filming but have gone 2-3 years between seasons. Frequently I only know that a new season is finally airing is because it pops to the top of my content. Interestingly, of the forums I follow, the most active one is Counting On, a show that was taken off the air many years ago. AllAstronauts February 4 Author Share February 4 Limited to 30 days forward (and a bit back) for both brand new shows and shows returning to air but some rather vague time post-launch this will change.
