I am a normal weight and when I got sick (COVID)I lost 5 pounds In two weeks. He should have lost that in two days

So "the numbers fluctuate" when he's making excuses but five pounds is a little bit of progress when he wants to convince Dr. Now he's done something. 

He's giving him another two months?

I guess it doesn't make much difference to Dr. Now, though. It's not like he's really taking up much of his time as a patient. A short phone call every couple months?

I wonder whether he actually can understand the diet, if it's not just procrastination.  He never graduated from high school, he isn't the sharpest tool in the drawer and remember than some 40% of adults in the US are functionally illiterate.  It won't surprise me if he is in fact unable to read Dr. Now's book in its entirety and understands only a small portion of what he had read...
