I think this movie will do a great job balancing the lighter aspects of Superman with deeper pathos. Also great to see color back in a Superman film. Snyder really did Superman dirty with his dark gritty grim-dark take. Works for Batman, not for Superman. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151089-superman-2025/#findComment-8536670

Trini Thursday at 07:44 PM Author Share Thursday at 07:44 PM For a "teaser", they kind of showed a lot? "Show all the characters in this" seemed to be a major mandate here. But yes, nice to see Superman in daylight! Not a fan of Gunn, so I'm only cautiously optimistic. I'm wondering if they put a piece on Corenswet's head for the Clark Kent look, or did they tease his actual hair? In any case, they sold the alterego aspect. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151089-superman-2025/#findComment-8536926

Danny Franks Friday at 04:25 PM Share Friday at 04:25 PM I've not been excited by Superman since I was about nine years old - I loved the Christopher Reeve movies (at least the first couple) as a kid, but as I got older I found the character boring and DC's approach to making movies was terrible (Zack Snyder is a hack). But all it took was that John Williams score kicking in to make me feel like a kid again. And this teaser really worked. It set the tone of the movie (I hope) as dramatic without being dark, fun without being a comedy. Yeah, I can see why people worry about the glimpses of so many other DC characters in a Superman movie, but it's just a case of getting the balance right. Except for Krypto, we can have as much Krypto as possible (I think James Gunn must have loved CGI Cosmo in Guardians, and wanted to develop it more). I like the casting - Brosnahan seems perfect for Lois, Corenswet certainly looks the part as both Clark and Superman, Nicholas Hoult should make a dastardly lex (Huzzah!). 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151089-superman-2025/#findComment-8537453

His name is Krypto (the Superdog); seeing as how it's comics, he's had several different origins, but the main one is that he's a dog from Krypton and, like Superman, has powers on Earth with its yellow sun. He's been the pet of Superman, and others related to him over the years. https://www.dc.com/characters/krypto https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krypto 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151089-superman-2025/#findComment-8537624

But the lack of follow-up, allowing Krypto to drag Superman home, may mean it was more of a one-off event. Maybe he got hit with a nuke? I wasn't interested in any other live versions-Cavill's turn was such a disappointment as was Routh's. Tenshinhan Saturday at 12:21 AM Share Saturday at 12:21 AM I really did not like the way Clark Kent appeared in the trailer. I hope that he is not portrayed as some bumbling idiot. I also do not like the usage of the John Williams theme, despite how cool it sounded in the trailer. This film should try and distance itself as much as possible from the old Donner films, in my view, so hearing it is a bit concerning. I enjoyed the style and tone, Brosnahan as Lois, and Krypto. I hope that Hoult does well as Luthor. On 12/19/2024 at 10:28 AM, tv echo said: That's the most unflattering hairstyle for Nathan Fillion since Buffy. Agreed. One of the things I liked about James Gunn's work with the Guardians of the Galaxy is that those movies were always fun, and colorful. I always noticed the colors, and this Superman world also appears to be very bright and vivid. I don't know, Reeves portrayal of Superman was pretty classic, and consistent with the comic book character IMO. And it's clear Gunn is taking it further than the Donner films did, bringing in Krypto, Mr. Terrific, Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl. Looks like he's building a new DCU to me. arc Yest. at 04:25 AM Share Yest. at 04:25 AM Quote And why is he bumbling? Since when is Clark Kent bumbling? In the 2006 All-Star Superman comics, which Gunn has said is a key touchstone, Clark is adorably "bumbling" in calculated ways that typically save civilians from flying train junk or even Lex Luthor from lab accidents, all without ever revealing any super powers. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151089-superman-2025/#findComment-8538398

(JoBlo Superheroes) I know nothing of the Superman comics. But reruns of The Adventures of Superman aired consistently during my childhood, so I have some familiarity with George Reeves' portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman. His Clark Kent wasn't a bumbling nerd; he was a serious reporter and also an amiable, easy going work colleague. As the clip shows, this Clark was invited to and went to parties! I don't remember if Phyllis Coates/Noel Neill's Lois Lane had a romantic interest in Superman the way Margot Kidder's did. Frankly, IMO, if Christopher Reeves had portrayed Clark Kent the same, I don't even see Kidder's Lois being that intrigued romantically with Superman. She would have been working besides, and attending gatherings with, a competent, hardworking, affable, good looking, SINGLE, Clark Kent who was right there. LOL.
