We had tickets to see Jim Gaffigan in Oct but that was when he was spending all his time in NYC playing Tim Walz on SNL. The show was postponed for a year!

Jim Gaffigan and Jerry Seinfeld are touring together in January (10 dates).  If I lived anywhere close by, I'd be there in a second.  Love those two guys.

She just blasted Hegseth and many other Trump nominees, so I think she's still fighting the good fight.

As for the pardon, two wrongs don't make a right.  Hunter was also convicted of tax evasion.  From the US Dept. of Justice website:  Special Counsel David C. He skates and people cheer because it's sticking it to the other side so to hell with accountability.  To hell with teaching actions have consequences.  Who cares if he broke the law, right?  Great examples for future generations.  Just as I could never understand how parents explain their vote for an amoral person like Trump, to their children, I don't understand how supposed law-abiding citizens rationalize a supposed public servant giving preference to his convicted felon offspring.

This is one big reason I quit watching this show.  We heard her say for over two years how unfit for office Trump was.  And now here we are.

I never saw her as any kind of moderate. Never liked her. I stated repeatedly that just because she smiles, laughs, and jokes with the others, didn't make her better or different from the one she replaced.

I was beyond thrilled President Biden pardoned his son.

If Kamala had been elected I would not support Biden pardoning his son. I would have had faith that whatever happened to Hunter Biden was reasonable and within the scope of the rule of law.

However, Trump has nominated people to lead the DOJ, AG, DHS, and FBI who have vowed to carry out Trump's plan of vengeance against all his perceived enemies. It would have been idiotic of Biden to have thrown his son to the wolves under those circumstances.

Alyssa can just shove it with all her moral outrage over this while she doesn't have an ounce of the same energy for everything Trump has gotten away with or all the pardons he has abused for far more egregious crimes.

But they are going to be outraged over a man pardoning a recovering addict for crimes he committed while being an addict. Crimes that are almost never prosecuted.  Crimes he was taking responsibility for before Republicans decided to weaponize the justice system.  So Alyssa and anyone else who condemns Biden for pardoning his son can STFU.

I'm curious, what are they then, if not lies? Misstatements? Misdirection? Wink and a nod? Fibs? Has the definition of "lie" changed when I wasn't paying attention? The panel has NO problem calling everything that some people say that isn't completely accurate and valid a "lie", so does "lie" only depend on who is saying it?

I agree that Trump pardoned people who didn't deserved it, as did Bill Clinton, and other presidents. The pearl clutching isn't about the pardon itself - it really doesn't matter why Hunter was pardoned - he wasn't going to end up in Guantanamo or the Chateau D'If, after all - it is about the repeated statements that Biden wouldn't pardon him, which I think were meant to give Biden the appearance of objectivity and duty and devotion to justice which were then thrown out the window. If he had said that he would consider pardoning Hunter, at least that would be honest and I think people would understand that. 

Whoopi, it is the lying that results in the pearl-clutching.  Don't pretend you don't get that.

She also said something along the lines that Biden has set a bad precedent.   I wished someone would of asked how?   He's not the first President to pardon a family member.   Or the first to make a controversial pardon....  

Alyssa going on and on about Biden lying... was annoying.   He explained why he changed his mind in his statement.   It was pretty clear.   Was she lying when she said the President elect was a threat to democracy and the worst thing that could happen?   She seems to have changed her mind.....

If Alyssa's family member  with a past drug problem done the same crimes as Hunter he/she would not have been charged with a crime or threatened with jail time.  That's the point she's missing.

I wouldn't be too sure that Hunter is safe from the orange vengeance tour, pardon or no pardon. He's (orange felon) hardly followed any protocol or rules up until now so there's no way he's starting now that he "has a mandate from the American people", not to mention that the SC has given him free reign to do anything he wants without any consequences.

Remember there was a settlement deal in place, which was what 99.9% (my number, not an actual statistic) of these cases would result in, but trump lackeys scuttled that and forced a trial, only to stick it to his father. Where’s the justice in that?  Hunter was all set to accept the agreed upon consequences in the settlement.

The Republicans who kept after Hunter weren't after justice.  They wanted to destroy Hunter which would have destroyed Joe.  Who has already lost two children. Yes Hunter committed crimes.  And he was taking responsibility for those crimes. Until Trump had his lackeys in Congress make a stink about the plea deal. What good was going to come from putting Hunter Biden in jail? Punishment?  Deterrent?  My theory is they thought they could nail Hunter and get him to flip on his dad.  You know for the crimes the Republicans are convinced Joe Biden committed even though there is zero evidence.

I never found Abby to bring much value to the show. Boring personality and not someone I would consider politically astute either. She was brought on to be Meghan's emotional support bestie, and never offered much outside that role, imo. 

Rachel Lindsay is also filling in today and I'm personally looking forward to her more. I really like her as a person and every time she shows up to guest co-host I think she does a great job.

The clips they showed of the press secretary were old.   They reflected the President's position at that time.    She told them over and over because the press asked her over and over.    Biden said he changed his mind over Thanksgiving, at and now the press secretary is answering the questions to reflect his current position.     Changing your mind based on new information, like the appointment of people to high law enforcement positions who have pledged to get revenge on political adversaries..... is not lying.

There is a huge difference between Karine Jean-Pierre telling the press what was the truth at the time and and someone like Sean Spicer (and later Sara Huckabee Sanders) telling the press "alternative facts".   When Jean-Pierre said no Biden is not going to pardon his son there was no proof that wasn't true. When Spicer told the press Trump had the biggest inauguration crowd ever there was proof that wasn't true. 

If someone wants to be mad Biden lied then be mad but let's not act like Biden is a lying liar who lies all the time.  And I read what Alyssa said yesterday.  If she thinks this is going to make people lose faith in our government telling us the truth was she in coma while she was working for Trump? Her former boss lied about everything.

I'm not clear on the timeline here. Didn't he make his decision over Thanksgiving weekend? Did his press secretary meet with the press during that time?

Look, I understand everyones frustration but Alyssa has always made it clear her opposition to trump was not policy but character and I think the scope of the loss made her feel like she was in a bubble given she convinced herself Kamala would win...she is also likely being advised by producers to represent other side more forcefully bc of trumps win. If she were to leave, they would likely feel pressured to add a full MAGA and redo Hasselbeck days so pick your poison folks.

 

If Whoopi and Sunny would be less dismissive of criticism towards Biden and dems writ large, I dont think Alyssa and Sara would be taking the devils advocate role as much. They have both been visibly frustrated dealing with Sunny. Even Ana has gotten annoyed at Sunny's stubbornness.

Everyone and I mean EVERY.ONE is acting as if Biden is the first president to change his mind and decide to pardon someone. And so what if it’s his son? Abby, just like Alyssa, is ignoring the fact WHY Hunter was charged and a target. Sunny pointed it out last week and again yesterday.

As far as I’m concerned, this pardon does not in any way, change my mind about what and how I think of President Biden.
