From Yohoo News 3/31/ 25

MAGA celebrates  the end of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), a federal agency that, among other things, distributed HIV/AIDS medications to children who otherwise don’t have access to them, with a meme that shows Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, and top GOP donor Elon Musk dancing with a casket labeled “USAID.”

Caption reads "MAGA 1 Libs 0"

image.thumb.png.418fa06926307cba76372843e950afda.png

Coffin Dance meme. They disrespected the Coffin Dance meme.

If anything was to happen to these assholes, I bet the fellas from Ghana would fly out to the States and do their thing . . . and not ask for money for transportation. Send those bozos off with the style they don’t deserve.

It's a start.

CNN —

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker has kicked off what is expected to be a marathon speech on the Senate floor to protest actions taken by President Donald Trump’s administration, saying that he will keep going “as long as I am physically able.”

The speech is not a filibuster because Booker is not blocking legislation or a nomination. The Democratic senator’s speech will keep the Senate floor open – and floor staff working as well US Capitol police members detailed to the chamber – for as long as he continues speaking, but lawmakers had concluded voting for the day before he began his remarks.

“I rise with the intention of disrupting the normal business of the United States Senate for as long as I am physically able,” Booker said at the outset of his remarks. “I rise tonight because I believe sincerely that our country is in crisis.” Booker began speaking at 7:00 pm ET.

He’s live streaming it. Right now he’s telling a story about John McCain’s opinion on government inefficiency. It’s actually really interesting.

Who else is there? Is he doing this just to encourage other Democrats to filibuster (when there's a bill they want passed or debated on, or whatever)??

But go ahead, walk lock step with this fascist. He's acting like one more and more every day.

I love the fact that people openly protest everything he does with impunity and then call him a fascist. Go to Moscow and stand outside the Kremlin to protest Putin and see what happens. This is why I can't take the word fascist seriously anymore. It's just another synonym for "what I call people who I don't like".

And the last time any major auditing of the federal government happened back during the Clinton years, it took years not weeks to do.

It you are conducting an audit you hire auditors. Not teenagers with dubious motives and no training in or knowledge of basic financial practice

First of all, they're not teenagers. They are all adults. Approximately 8 men, all businessmen (banker, CEO, etc.) with an average age around 30 years old.

With that many men on the job, they could work faster, especially when it came to cross-referencing fraudulent expenses.

Totally agree. And now "genius" boy is saying out loud that he never wanted kids! Doesn't matter if they're kids with Kim or not. Can you imagine how North must feel hearing her father say she wasn't wanted 😟😞

I hear what you're saying, but the word "fascist" has been thrown around since the Smothers Brothers days. One might say 'well, they're comedians' but we all know better...which is why their show was cancelled.

Politics is really destroying our country. And now we have hired factions who will go out and protest anything, regardless of whether they truly believe what it is they're protesting against. It's to the point where these people are randomly stopping drivers in the streets because of it! The blatant destruction of private property needs to stop. Even if the political arena improves, how do we all come back from the hate and destruction?

5 hours ago, Yeah No said:

Oh, trust me, if he could find a way to punish people that protest him openly like Vlad does he'd do it. But he's found other ways to punish us, like what he's doing right now to destroy the government under the guise of "fixing it". Yeah, he's "fixing it" alright! He's fixing all of us that dared to vote against him and prevented him from stealing the 2020 election, that's what he's doing!

And contrary to what you think, I don't use the word "fascist" lightly. I have never called ANY American, whether a politician or not (and whether I liked them or not) a "fascist" in my entire life until now! So you can take that very seriously. If his followers don't want us to call him a "fascist" maybe he should stop acting like one! I am sure that those here on the thread that love to make lists could generate one a mile long to support calling him that just based on things he has done even since January of this year. It's freaking unbelievable how long it could get at this point!

I feel like "The Road to Serfdom" is a good read for some people. We're well on that road, and I don't know how to stop it.

On this I disagree.  The Women's March in DC in 2017 protesters were accused of being paid.  As if people being outraged enough to protest women's rights being in danger of being lost was not plausible.  And since I don't want to be accused of being partisan as abhorrent as I find it the people storming the Capitol on January 6th weren't paid.  They were simply falling their dear leader's directive.

Did you all hear that the White House "investigation" into Signalgate is now closed?  Trump says the story is "old and boring now."

What's sad and scary is that with this regime every week there is going to be a new screw up of one kind or another that would merit, at the least, an investigation - but would in normal times also result in someone being demoted, fired or charged with treason.

So Trump is right this story is "old and boring now" because something even worse is right around the corner.  For four exhausting years.

Yes. Here in the states there is no equivalent on the left to the Proud Boys on the right.  That isn't to say there has not been individuals on the left who has engaged in vandalism or whatever but there is no organized group that is labeled a hate group.

This.  It's already happening of course.  A day does not go by without some MAGA supporter whining that they had no idea they'd be the one who lost their job.

My MAGA sister has been a TSA at a smallish airport for 20 years.

She says she is retiring in June. Actually blamed it on new staff being hired that were non binary. Said she was nervous about seeing a supposedly trans person in restroom the other day.

This is a woman with a black belt in karate, and 20 fucking years of seeing all kinds of stuff in luggage xrays-- weapons, dildos, drugs, etc.,-- and all types of humanity in and out of the airport. And she says she's scared of a (maybe) trans person nearby?????

I called it BS as soon as I got off the phone with her.  I have learned there's no reasoning with MAGA family.

Then last night I heard Trump is dismantling the union for TSAs.

Yep, she's not going blame him,  but LGBTQ+  people.

I just saw an article about a conservative candidate in Ontario who's had to drop out of the race over a comment he made about Justin Trudeau deserving the death penalty. And here in Alberta the UCP government voted to cut the funding for snacks for kids undergoing cancer treatments. (Sorry, that may have been mentioned here already.) Comparing the extreme reaction on one side to a benign reaction of the other side just undermines any point that is being made.

facism expert left the US because he sees facism rising in the country. So, no, it’s not hyperbole. He’s being called a facist because he is expressing facist ideals. Your point only proves that we are not a fully facist country and not that Trump isn’t a facist. It’s not even a particularly strong proof of that, when you remember that people who are in the country 100% legally and have been protesting have been taken into custody.

I am also pretty over being told a reaction is too extreme after spending years being told that Roe would never actually be overturned or that Project 2025 would never happen.

Conservatives have been "joking" about killing Justin Trudeau for years. I saw a picture of a doll they made, put his face on it, and then hung it from a noose. They thought it was funny. If my side made that joke about PP, the conservatives would be out for blood. The hypocrisy is strong with that bunch.

For some it's racism or some other form of bigotry. They think only the "others" will suffer or be punished.  For some it's religion.  They believe in the Old Testament not the New Testament that features the Jesus they would call a socialist today. For some it's just plain old fashioned greed. They think if they take something away from someone there will be more for them.  Even if they don't need it they want it.

Also the right overreacts to everything.  Even things that aren't real.  When the left reacts to the very real bad things happening we are told we are overreacting.  It's gaslighting and I hope people have woken up to that.

Wisconsin is voting today. Here is what Trump had to say about Susan Crawford who is running for Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Trump said of Wisconsin, "I hope you get out and vote for the Republicans. The woman is a radical left lunatic. The woman will be very bad."

Seems like every who is a Democrat is to Trump, a lunatic. When does him saying that of everyone become slander??

That is something they don't understand. We want our country to succeed.  We want things to improve for everyone. And if Trump was doing things that would cause that to happen we would say ok we were wrong.  Republicans will never do that.  They are still trying to kill the ACA even though it has enabled to get millions of people healthcare that was otherwise out of reach for them.

I hate to pile on, but Trump also recently chose Sara Carter, a Fox News contributor, to lead the ONDCP, which coordinates the federal response to the opioid overdose crisis across state agencies, including public health agencies. Carter has zero background in drug policy, public health, law enforcement, or government.

She is the 22nd Fox personality Trump has chosen for a major government post. Apparently TV experience is most important when coordinating the nation's response to an addiction crisis that has killed more Americans than the Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan wars combined? 😡

Absurd and surreal! People I know in epidemiology are reeling.

What always puzzles me is why is he so angry all the time?  He's led a privileged life by anyone's standards.  He's never had any real repercussions for anything he's ever done.  Even by normal people standards he's done well (good health, successful children, roof over his head, food on the table) and yet he's a seething mass of hatred and resentment.

Dimity, narcissism is usually accompanied by resentment.  The worst narcissist I've known was also wealthy & privileged -- you'd think his developmental years had been fraught with the tortures of the damned to produce such an adult.  I'd feel sorry for the poor beasts if only they didn't wreak such havoc upon the rest of us.

Even though it's a stereotype I think it's true here.  A lot of people that live in rural states don't like (and I'm going to be nice) diverse people.  So Trump doing his level best to make this country white again appeals to them.  And if they have to suffer for it so be it.

This makes it possible for rich people/corporations (corporations are people too) to buy up all the independent farms and control even more.  I think I read or heard that depressions serve to redistribute wealth back to the wealthy.  someone smarter than me will know
