The sanewashing of Trump pre-election and capitulation to him post-election is a new low, but not new altogether. That was really stupid of him to be using the word, "rape", when the jury convicted DJT of sexual assault (& that wording was discussed a lot at the time). NY media has been well aware (for a long time) of how litigious Trump is, ready to sue at the drop of a hat. But George S wasn’t basing his statement on what the jury found. He said clearly that it was based on the judge saying that 45 committed rape. Judge dismisses 45 defamation suit Most of the lawyers I’ve seen on BlueSky say it’s completely stupid that ABC capitulated like this. They could have won the case. And, at least, they could have let 45 get deposed since that was scheduled for this week or next week. 6 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/63/#findComment-8533353

People have been trying to convince others for years that media was liberal run and owned but I've never been convinced. All the in major news units have always had that slight conservative slant (even MSNBC has their conservative outputs). And now with corporations buying up news outlets and pretty much dictating how they can or can't tell the news, social media outragists don't have a leg to stand on when they accuse the news of liberal bias because it's not there. The sanewashing is atrocious but not surprising. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/63/#findComment-8533364

Heard that Trump went to the Army/Navy game and Daniel Penny was his guest. I wonder how much of what he does is out of genuine feeling and how much is about looking like the absolute worst person ever. Perhaps this will help, (thanks to Google): Quote Narcissists are often considered insecure because their inflated sense of self-worth is actually a fragile facade used to mask deep underlying insecurities, which they try to compensate for by seeking excessive external validation and admiration from others, often through manipulation and self-aggrandizement; essentially, they rely heavily on how others perceive them to feel good about themselves, making them highly sensitive to criticism and rejection. Key points about why narcissists might be insecure: Fear of failure: Due to their inflated self-image, narcissists may be particularly afraid of failure or criticism, which can trigger feelings of inadequacy and shame. Childhood experiences: Some experts believe that narcissistic behaviors can stem from childhood experiences like inconsistent parenting, excessive praise, or a lack of validation, leading to a distorted sense of self-worth. Fragile self-esteem: While narcissists may present a confident exterior, their self-esteem is often fragile and dependent on external validation, making them vulnerable to insecurity when that validation is not received. Need for constant validation: Narcissists often require excessive praise and attention to maintain their self-esteem, which can lead to feelings of insecurity if they don't receive it. Which made the loss all the more crushing. On the subject of women candidates one of the pundits was on a Canadian news show today sneering (as they usually do) that the Liberal party is the only federal party that has never been led by a woman. Came right and said this made any of their claims about equality and women's right hollow. Of course what he didn't mention is that the only reason the Cons ever had a woman leader was because Mulroney stuck Kim Campbell with the role of PM when he stepped down and the Cons self destructed. Other parties have had women leaders but, so far, have never formed the govt. His useless point was as usual really just another way to own the Libs. 3 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/63/#findComment-8533598

PRgal December 16 Share December 16 Since this is kind of leaning political, I'll keep it here rather than over on Peeves or the main Chit-Chat board. Canada's "tax holiday," meaning certain goods, including restaurant non-alcoholic restaurant meals, snacks and things like that would be tax free for two months, began yesterday (December 14). I went to pick up cake (small, individual ones) at a bakery/patisserie yesterday and the server said that it would be tax free if I bought six (this is standard, tax holiday or not). I mentioned to her that I thought everything was tax-free since it was December 14th. She said she didn't know what I was talking about (it was all over the news). An older gentleman (manager, perhaps?) was at the counter as well and told me that the store "wasn't alerted." Sounded like some kind of excuse. If they weren't ready/their system wasn't ready, then that's what he should have told me. And since I wasn't aware I could claim it myself, I didn't ask for a receipt (they're cashless, and being cashless, their system should really also prompt me for contact info so a receipt could be sent if I opted in). I posted about it on Threads and more people thought I was a Karen than siding with me. At least I didn't go Karen at the store? PEOPLE HAVE BEEN DOING THAT AND ARE STILL DOING THAT AND IT'S NOT GETTING US SQUAT. Michelle's been nothing but classy and hasn't once stooped to Trump's level and what's it getting her? More racist vitriol from the dumbasses out there. And yet we can't call MAGA suporters stupid 'cause that might hurt their precious feelings. Fuck that. When the right gets the same lecture to tone down their language and reach across tha aisle and try to understand those of us who aren't Trump supporters, then maybe I'll give a damn about playing nice. Until then, people can shut up with the "tone argument" BS. 1 hour ago, bluegirl147 said: .Speaking of Republicans I read an article tnat said Democrat pollsters concluded going forward Democrats should distance themselves from "wokeness" In other words try to be Republicans. The same pollsters who either lied about Harris's chances this year or were clearly inept at their job. I hope like hell nobody listens to that nonsense. No, the Democrats should not even try and abandon their support for women and minority groups and anything that resmebles "wokeness". They need to keep pushing that and pushing it hard, and Democratic voters need to come out en masse and keep pushing to make this stuff a reality, too, instead of just sititng home because they think they're too good to bother casting a vote for a candidate that may not fit their "perfect checklist". It's so fucking depressing that in 2024 people are still so bugged about the idea of a woman being presdient. Get over yourselves, you pathetic babies. 14 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/63/#findComment-8533725
annzeepark914 December 16 Share December 16 Women's achievements have been hidden for decades, so no wonder a lot of voters just don't believe a woman could be a strong, successful commander-in-chief. Who knew that women enabled male astronauts to get up into outer space (& saved John Glenn on his firey return to Earth?) That certainly wasn't taught in high school back in my day. Who knew it was a group of CIA women who found Bin laden (when no one else could), enabling male Seals to go in and kill him? Is there a book describing female accomplishments like these that should be taught in schools today? Why is it always such a surprise? 10 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/63/#findComment-8533751

annzeepark914 December 16 Share December 16 (edited) Maybe Hollywood could get up to snuff and produce an updated version of "The Right Stuff" featuring female astronauts, engineers, test pilots, etc. Or, would that threaten young males and their moms? (I can't get over the number of posts on Facebook about how boys "are being held back"). I had a son and a daughter and no one is ever going to convince me that he was disadvantaged by being born male. Please. Now if you've got an hour or two to spare I'll give you a rundown on the hurdles my daughter and her friends were STILL facing long after women were supposedly considered equal to men. 7 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/63/#findComment-8533875

I thought we'd killed that a few decades ago. This makes me all the more glad that I work in a place where my boss and co-woerkers are all women (there are men who work at the clinic, too, but they're not in the business office, they work in other departments and we don't often interact with them directly. My boss does, though, and she has talked about how she's had to deal with that with some of them, too). Quote It's even within families. My daughter and I keep telling her in-laws the granddaughter is fine with her brother's not pink and sparkly hand-me-downs. In fact she prefers them. She wants black and olive green not pink and purple. So years ago, back when we were living in another state (I want to say it might've been Nebraska or Wyoming?), my mom worked for a time at a Hallmark store. She liked the job itself, but she would sometimes talk about how her bosses, who were a married couple, were kind of...odd. One day this couple comes in to buy something for their baby. My mom goes to wrap the present and just grabs some pink ribbon, 'cause it matched the color of the wrapping paper and she thought it would all look nice. The...wife, I think it was, who was her boss literally came over and ripped the package out of my mom's hand and started snapping at her, because the baby was a boy and so the ribbon needed to be blue. The couple buying this present? They did not care one bit about the color of the ribbon on the wrapping paper, they were totally fine with the pink ribbon. So they were just standing there, staring in shock, at this super awkward scene playing out right in front of them. Anyway, my mom's boss changed the ribbon and the purchase went through without futher incident, but my mom decided shortly after that that, yeah, she was done working at that place, 'cause what the actual fuck. I just...truly do not get how supposed grown adults get so bent out of shape over this stuff. They're babies/children. They do not care. YOU (general "you") are the ones who care, and you care WAY too much and you need to get the hell over it. It's a freaking color, for cripes' sakes. More than 10,000 women were recruited from colleges to do this top secret work. It was so secret, their story was largely unknown until a book was published on it in 2017 entitled "Code Girls: The Untold Story of the American Women Code Breakers of World War II". This same friend's mother worked for the CIA when he was a kid, something so secret even he didn't find out about it until after her untimely death. Also, related to the thread, does anyone think trump sends his people around to threaten all those who have dropped out, recanted, resigned, etc. What happened with Wray? Was he afraid of something? As in someone came to see him and said "we have evidence of you misusing a postage stamp back in 1993", etc. or maybe they know what is coming is a huge bank draining legal issue? I kind of wonder and hope that all the people involved with the Jack Smith proceedings will help each other out legally, if that is a thing. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/63/#findComment-8534139

Like they did with the female Ghostbusters. Or the female Dr. Who. Hillary and Chelsea Clinton wrote the book Gutsy Women a few years ago. It was a really good read and I'm sad to say there were many women in the book I had never heard of. Here is a link to Wiki page and a list of the women featured. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Book_of_Gutsy_Women And on another note LIndsey Graham says Pete Hegseth will release his accuser from the NDA she signed. If the woman does come forward how long before Trump supporters attack her? Online and in person. 7 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/63/#findComment-8534184
PRgal December 16 Share December 16 Boys face different types of disadvantages. School wants kids to sit still at young ages and girls tend to be more ready for that than boys. My son, for example, along with many of his (male) friends only recently started doing so (I’m proud of him - he actually sat through Home Alone yesterday! I think a movie featuring a boy not much older than he is helped. We tried Oliver, but that was a few years ago and can be scary (hey, orphans and mean adults can be. Carol Burnett’s Miss Hannigan traumatized me and I’ve only seen that version of Annie ONCE)). Some still have issues. Boys and young men also statistically have higher suicide rates than girls/women. And the current view of masculinity, that they are not encouraged to show feelings and and express the need for help because it’s “unmanly” doesn’t help much. I’m seeing this in my son already and he’s only 6. We’re trying our best, but society is cruel. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/63/#findComment-8534199

I can only speak for myself but I think that view of masculinity is unhealthy and in a lot of cases dangerous. My son is 32 and when I was raising him I wanted him to show his feelings and be respectful of other people's feelings. I don't think that should be considered not masculine. I think that is being a decent human being. Wannabe "macho man" Trump and his merry band of fake "real men" are overcompensating for their shortcomings. Whether that is intellectual or some other shortcoming they use the power they have to try to make everyone else feel small. 14 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/63/#findComment-8534217

bluegirl147 December 16 Share December 16 Just now, Dimity said: I am always reminded of the Gloria Steinem quote: “Though we have the courage to raise our daughters more like our sons, we've rarely had the courage to raise our sons like our daughters.” It's true. You can find toys that are stereotypical for boys that are aimed at girls. But do they always have to be pink? But you don't see toys stereotypical for girls aimed at boys. When my son was young Power Rangers were big. He had their actions figures. They were just boy dolls right? But of course they weren't marketed that way. Same with clothes. Boy clothes have dinosaurs and trucks on them. Girls clothes have unicorns and rainbows. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/150441-chit-chat-the-feels/page/63/#findComment-8534230
