When I looked up there seemed to be one of those blurs on her partner tucked beside her on the train, so I thought they were concealing something - maybe it was a smudge on my glasses. Sorry, Quickbeam. It’s all good! I surprise myself how much I know about these people. Half the initial cast ended up married to each other, sometimes unmarried. I suppose dance is a small world, it probably helps to have a spouse in the business too. Link to comment

That being said, I was totally pissed at CAI's tongue bath over everyone EXCEPT Ilona and Chandler. I guess I am biased, but I didn't think Dwight, Stephen, and Danny were any better than Ilona. Contemporary is total bullshit on this show because it's always overscored. Ilona's scores were ridiculous considering they were the same scores she's been getting and she is much improved. Shoot, they were giving Phaedra 8's for barely moving! I saw an article this week interviewing CAI and she was saying one person's 10 looks different than someone else's because they come into the competition with different skill levels. Well, which is it Carrie Ann? Because based on that logic, Ilona who came in with zero dance experience has improved considerably since the competition started but everyone else is getting a bump except her? Grrrrr....... Joey continues to astound. I love him. Dwight should have gone instead of Jenn, but I just think she was splitting Bachelor votes with Joey. Their faces said they knew it was coming. I think Ilona keeps improving every week and I don’t understand the scoring at all. 6 1 Link to comment
Andiethewestie October 30 Share October 30 Well it's obvious that Carrie Ann is damn misogynist. The 10's for the men was pretty incredible but its head scratching. Either she's tone deaf or production directed her to do this. Dwight did a decent job but it wasn't a 10. Dani should get an 11. What a profoundly creative piece of art. Just wow' However I feel he has massively improved his Latin Ballroom, He won the dance off to me because he did proper basic Cha Cha. Allen is swinging Ilona around and she's not doing the steps with any conviction. Also she needs to get better at Ballroom. Her dance position for the Tango was soft at times lowering her arms. I got bored at Stephen and Riley's comtemporary. Where Dwight was terrifying Stephen was more Boo than Terror. Also it was full of gymnastics and just not appealing choreographically and that needed to be called out. If Ilona gets a note for too many lifts or tricks the guys should too. personally I think for Stephen there was a lot of hype for him but he's not improving and people may have parked their vote elsewhere, maybe with one of the two hunks or likely with the Lesbian wet dream Ilona. Even though she's straight women love her as if she were Harry Styles. Danny is a great forklift, steady and secure everytime but he is still far too stiff. I'd be pressed to give him an 8 please chill on the lifts and let's see how much you can dance. This was probably one of his worst, and when the lift heavy dances go does he? Joey and Jenna had a lot of fun with the Ventriloquist theme that I enjoyed a lot. I still hate the man's feet they are so clunky it disturbs the movement. 9 is generous for this especially because I think he's botched the lifts particularly the iconic Anna Trebunskya lift she and Evan did in season 10. I'll give it to the choreography I was sorry to see Jenn go, but she had plateaued for me. The dance off wasn't that great, slow and tentative but they sent her home knowing she won that and got a 10. Also I think Bachelor Nation decided to only back one horse. Well Chandler is getting the fuck off and die critique from Carrie Ann. Charity got this shit narrative last season when Carrie Ann insisted she made a mistake in the finals on a perfectly great Argentine Tango. Chandler danced that Viennese Waltz beautifully. Her lines, her dance position her movement was quality all the way through and I thought it should have been the first 30. Love her or hate her Chandler is crushing ballroom dancing. On line backlash was swift, so if it goes viral like Danny's lifts then maybe a few more will be pissed off at the overt bullying by Inaba and vote for this team. Ilona has nothing to worry about even if she's one of the worst dancers remaining she's got a ginormous fanbase and probably win the whole thing. 4 1 Link to comment

TVbitch October 31 Share October 31 (edited) I too immediately thought of the iconic SYTYCD number for Ramalama. Really miss the original version of that show. I was entertained by the dancing, and that's all I really ask for. Still rooting for Danny, but he may have plateaued. The pros did a great job all night, but I do think Riley's choreography stands out as being a step below ~but she's young and I'm sure she will improve. Edited October 31 by TVbitch 5 Link to comment

bravofan27 November 1 Share November 1 Jenn seems all over Sasha, and to me, he looks kind of uncomfortable. Jenn is a little cheesy with all her giggles and flirting with Sasha-- I think she's trying to imitate Brooks Nadar flirting she did with Glebb, and teasing the audience that they were dating-- however, Glebb and Brooks are defined by their sex appeal. Jenn and Sasha-- not so much. It's just so embarrassing to me. Sasha isn't trying to be the sexy seductive partner. plus, does she talk without moving her teeth? Her voice is hard to hear and understand. 3 Link to comment
Linderhill November 1 Share November 1 as entertaining as Dwight and Daniella's dance was, that was not a contemporary, it was just a performance of lifts, one right after the other. The height difference between the two is so off putting and the man really has not improved that much at all. Massively over scoring what was basically a demo of how Daniella can be lifted so many ways. It's been said before and I'll say it again, these judges don't know anything about "contemporary" dancing and it never should have been incorporated into the show. 6 1 Link to comment
LennieBriscoe November 1 Share November 1 Maybe TPTB thought the show needed to compete with "So You Think You Can Dance," which is (seems to me) basically all Contemporary. Link to comment

They weren't "purposely obscuring" that it was Val. He even spoke. I assumed they set up this cozy little double date in response to the backlash Jenna is getting for "getting too close to Joey." Which I'm pretty sure is just a bunch of bored pearl-clutchers seeing something that isn't there, but showing Joey and Kelsey hanging out as a couple with Val and Jenna is likely aimed at that crowd. Quote Jenn seems all over Sasha, and to me, he looks kind of uncomfortable. Her voice is hard to hear and understand. She absolutely talks without moving her teeth, it drove me bananas all through her Bachelorette season. It's like she holds her back teeth together and only moves her lips, very strange. Agreed that Sasha looks uncomfortable, which could be for several reasons, including that his ex-wife Emma is right there on the show. Also, maybe it's just her immature vibe, but it seems like a big age gap and like a big brother/little sister vibe. I think it's Jenn or the show trying to give her a redemption/revenge arc after such a humiliating end to her B'ette season, like look at "Jenn finding love on another ABC show...", but she's just not able to sell it as authentic. It makes me cringe a little to watch it. Carrie Ann is definitely being unfair to Chandler, I felt sorry for her when she seemed so frustrated and said "I want to improve, tell me what I need to do." But overall, Chandler just doesn't draw me in. Like many Disney kids, the personality is kind of buffed out of them, they have such media polish that you don't get a sense of who they actually are. That's hurting her in the voting I'm sure, plus she's just less well known in general. Olympians in an Olympics year, the behemoth Bachelor franchise, and the NBA are tough to beat in a popularity contest. 4 Link to comment

Andiethewestie November 2 Share November 2 (edited) I never care about personalities on this show. I want good dencers to entertain me. The "journey" is bullshit. Every dance is different and in many cases you can't build on what you've learned if you did Rumba week one and Quickstep week 2. The only "journey" is remembering your choreography and understanding where the cameras are. I wasn't thrilled with Iman's lifestyle because I can't relate to it but I sure as anything was impressed by his commitment. He brought the concept of her Emmy nominated contemporary to Dani. And then he was instrumental in celebrating the culture on the show with the choice of music to their Jazz, cha cha and their Freestyle in particular. So I got to appreciate the culture. It was dancing that impressed me, and it didn't hurt that the NBA, and his then wife's fanbase decided to watch and vote. 8 hours ago, ljenkins782 said: Like many Disney kids, the personality is kind of buffed out of As for personalities, they are all there to launch future careers or revive sagging ones with higher Q ratings. The more they're known the better they can leverage the next media deal. Nobody has any idea who these people really are.. I really don't care if they're cute I want to know if they can learn and perform. I just vote for good dancing because the commitment to dance speaks volumes to me. So Chandler is someone who decided to compete having not danced ballet in 10 years but retains the beauty of line, grace and commitment to learning. Jordan Fisher is similar, another Disney kid with a small fanbase initially and a rather guarded personality but it didn't matter he's a guy who can dance so much better than the run of the mill stomper so he's amazing and sailed through the competition gaining voters each week.He became a hit on Broadway not through stunt casting for Chicago but being in a number of shows, singing and some dancing Charli D'Amelio is also launching a dance career on Broadway. I see Chandler with an upward trajectory maybe Broadway in singing and dancing. Or in feature films or tv. She looks up to Zendaya as an inspiration and we all know her career took off, within a few years of her time on the show. The problem for Chandler is despite the other Disney kids like Jordan and Zendaya getting a top 3 position we have a lot of stompers with huge fanbases this season that won't allow that to happen. LennieBriscoe November 5 Share November 5 I'm rooting for Stephen, even if unrealistically, because I want to see him parlay his athletic success into as much publicity for men's gymnastics and as much money for himself as he can. I know Stephen can make a good living as an electrical engineer, but isn't Show Biz more fun?! 2 Link to comment
