snarts June 11 Share June 11 (edited) The charter guests find themselves still without provisions, but two deckhands save the day by securing a surprise from a neighbouring boat; Aesha struggles to keep the interior running smoothly as her third stew mismanages the laundry. Aired 06.10.2024 I guess someone has to make the doughnuts... Edited June 11 by snarts 3 Link to comment
Zaffy June 11 Share June 11 No too much drama, and I like it this way. I am surprised they didn't stay at the Temple of Poseidon till sunset, this is supposed to be one of the best sunset spots in the world. I guess they are strict on when the guests have to check out. So, that is why they kept the "no provisions" charade, so they could do the "buy wine from the other boat" thingy. That was kind of sweet. The Chef drama was well "meh". The guests had "late night snacks" in their preferences, so the Chef kind of screw up this one. I am with the stew. The restaurant the crew had dinner at, is located in Lycabettus hill. I always tell people who visit the city to eat in one of the restaurants there. Food is decent, but it is the amazing view that makes the difference. And if you wonder why there are no high buildings and a high skyline in Athens, it is because nothing should be higher than the Acropolis rock. Which has made the city expanded horizontally instead of vertically. As for the sex shenanigans.. well "yawn". Although I did laugh loud when they said "where are no cameras?" in front of cameras! 2 4 1 Link to comment

Oooooh so pretty! Greece is on my list of places to see before I die, I have traveled a lot but somehow not to Greece. I kept waiting for Sandy (after the fact) to say that Ellie was right to wake up the chef because he did not do what he was supposed to do according to the preference sheet but nope, just tell Ellie she was wrong. I also kept waiting for the chef to acknowledge he was wrong but nope. He did sympathize with Ellie so I guess that's something but I think we know Jono thinks Jono's poop don't stink. I am not sure why Sandy would turn away provisions even if the charter would be over, it's wine and there are other charters happening and given how hard it has been to get what they need, she should have just taken the delivery rather than cancel it and then find another supplier to use. 10 1 Link to comment

Of course, we can always be a tad cautious...cause the production can edit what the crew say, so we might not really know what words those two exchanged. The whole provisions... This time the boat docked in the inner spot of the Marina, it was so obvious how many shops, bars, cafe, etc are in the proximity. Actually, there is at least yachting provider in the area, that delivers 24/7. And when I say area I mean 5-10 mins walking away from the boat. Even in the Temple where they asked wine from the other boat, there are big hotels and tavernas and restaurants they could have sent the crew to buy wine from. aghst June 11 Share June 11 (edited) Yes, definitely going to another yacht and offering to pay €75 each for bottles of rose is a scripted thing. Sandy could have paid that before they left the marina. There is also a hotel resort there at Sounion so they could have gone there as well. It sounds like they never got far from port so they could have sent a tender back to port and got some bottles that way. I guess they're allowed to jet ski in that area, surprised there weren't more boats moored there under the temple. I bookmarked Lycabettus Hill but I got the impression that parking was some distance from the side of the Hill that faced the Acropolis. Can't wait to visit but there seem to be many hotels and bars with rooftop terraces facing the Acropolis as well. Forgot to mention, Sandy was on WWHL but they also had chef Dave in the audience and they had him miked up and he said it was no big deal to be waken up, that he preferred to be waken up to make proper snacks if the guests requested it. So more fake drama, they made Ellie sweat. Probably someone prodded her to try to get Jono out. TWICE! Turned out Gael could make some grilled cheese and the guests didn't mind pitching in. So a lot of sound and fury for nothing -- apologies to Shakespeare. Edited June 11 by aghst 7 1 Link to comment
iMonrey June 11 Share June 11 What is this "don't wake up the chef" shit? Didn't they wake up Frenchie just last season on BD when guests were demanding snacks? Notice it was Iain who told Sandy a stew woke them up and she immediately said "Oh that won't happen again." Typical Sandy, jumping to deck crew's defense instead of the stews. I'm team Ellie all the way. Nice job, editors, flashing back to the preference sheet meeting to show the guests had "late night snacks" on their preference sheets, and Jono said he'd take care of it. What an asshole. Nobody else gets their eight hours of sleep, they all have to jump through hoops for the guests, I don't know why he (or Sandy) seems to think he shouldn't have to. (For what it's worth, Captain Lee was asked about this "don't wake up the chef" thing and disagreed with Sandy.) Iain's not a bad looking guy when he's got his hat on and his hair slicked back but in all his interview segments he's got this weird side part that gives him a huge fivehead and makes him look strange. Uh, Aesha, nobody needs to hear how big of a poop you made while they're trying to eat their lunch. I swear, I don't get this girl's weird obsession with poop. Gael has Chrissy Teigen/Melania Trump eyes. Sort of like cat's eyes. 8 1 Link to comment
PaperTree June 11 Share June 11 I'm with Ellie here too. Jono didn't do his job and have snacks prepared like the sheet said, then gets all pissy about getting woken up. Sandy said nothing about the guests doing the cooking (that I remember) Then he says he couldn't get back to sleep. Boo Hoo. He should have just gotten up then. $75 seems a lot for a bottle of wine, seemed very staged. Sandy continues to bug me to no end jumping on Ellie. She actually had the nerve on WWHL to say: "I don't micromanage, I manage!" Right. And I'm The Queen of France. Aesha needs to stop the poop talk. She seems nice and competant enough, but that voice could cut glass. Aaaand we have our first hook-up. Smart move avoiding the cameras, but don't announce it to the cameras. Oy! 8 1 Link to comment

65mickey June 11 Share June 11 Love that the first callers on WWHL called out Sandy for waking up the chef to slice cucumbers for the guest when she is saying "you do not wake the chef." Even Andy said that he had a ton of remarks from fans about that. She tried to deflect by saying she didn't know what that was about. I don't think she liked being called out for this. Speaking of Captain Lee when he saw Rocky in the galley making quesadillas for the guests at night instead of Leon he was not happy to find out that Leon was sleeping. Of course Sandy came down on Ellie and not the chef. It seems like every season she finds one person to go after. 10 Link to comment

Say what you want about the fake drama that happens on these boats but the scenery is worth watching. It's a longer flight than Paris. One thing to research is which islands you would want to visit. There are so many of them. In some cases, flights will make more sense than taking ferries or hydrofoils between the islands. Off season, which is before Greek Easter (different than Easter for us) may still have pleasant weather but the water may not be warm for swimming. But then the ferries won't be running their full schedules yet. As far as Athens, I only spent a couple of nights there and instead visited Mykonos, Santorini and Crete. So I missed out on things like Lycabettus Hill. But I did a coach tour of Sounion, which includes the Temple of Poseidon, below which they were docked when they went and bought the rose bottles from the other yacht. It's a gorgeous coastline there. I would spend a night or two there just to see the temple lit up at night. But there isn't as many hotels and restaurants right there so you might need to drive or take a taxi for meals. They also run a popular tour to see the sunset there from Athens too. 3 1 2 Link to comment

Zaffy June 11 Share June 11 I remember is some BD, they mentioned that the crew must have a minimum of hours to sleep. Maybe that is why they shouldn't wake the Chef? On the other hand it was his fault.. Now, if you want to visit Greece, I really suggest to do during Greek Easter, especially if it is in late April or beginning of May. Athens is relatively empty during easter week. There are plenty of customs, even if you are not religious, and the food is amazing (as long as you are not vegeterian). I know swimming could be tough cause the water would be still cold, but when the water is warm there are a bazillion of tourists in it! Something you gain, something you loose. 2 3 Link to comment

Chatty Cake June 12 Share June 12 (edited) I can’t believe I am liking this season so far. I like Aesha but please stop announcing your bodily functions! Gross. I usually am anti Sandy but I kind of agree with her in this case. Ellie is going on about becoming a chief stew yet she can’t even make drinks and get some grilled cheese going. I’m sure those brats were a pain in the ass but excuse yourself and get their snacks so they shut up! Instead she wasted time timidly trying to wake the chef twice. Sandy did say if the chef is on a break or just went down for the night then by all means go get him but if he’s been down for awhile don’t do it. Jono should have had some snacks ready and he could have been a little nicer to Ellie but he can’t let everyone walk all over him. Bri is in over her head. I think Aesha needs to spend some time with her giving her some training. I don’t care for the boatmances or the narrative that these people are so horny they just have to hump their coworkers. It's the actual "true" master, which we never see. The "master" given to the primary is actually the 2nd biggest room. You can go look up the "behind the scenes" mini doc that Colin did on YouTube if you are so inclined. 3 1 Link to comment

The crew actually does stay/work on a follow boat but I agree that it wouldn't be a larger luxury yacht. To support such an operation, the main charter yacht is accompanied by a support vessel and water taxi, which ferries the camera crew to and from the main yacht. The support vessel, which in previous seasons has been a schooner, catamaran and “mini yacht”, is chosen on the capabilities of its galley to ensure the crews are well fed. The support vessel follows around the mothership but is always carefully anchored out of sight to avoid being in the shot. https://www.boatinternational.com/yachts/news/below-deck-behind-the-scenes 2 1 5 Link to comment

Chalby June 14 Share June 14 I remember in the earlier Below Deck shows, the Chefs would be woken up (but they didn't always comply). I'm glad to see that it's no longer acceptable because the hours the Chef puts in is intense. I did feel the stew should be able to cook something, but again, they don't know the kitchen well enough to not waste time searching for ingredients. I think 2nd stew might become more vocal, but not in a good way. 2 Link to comment
