Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage - General Discussion

I'd rather wait a couple of months and then have a steady stream of new episodes than stop and start for the holidys, the Super Bowl, the inauguration, etc.

No need to stop for 2 of those & even missing 1 episode isn't too bad but 2 months between episodes is excessive in the extreme. When most people have some sort of recording device and/or multiple streaming services it is way beyond ridiculous.

It's been a while since tv has been regular, hasn't it? I miss the days when there weren't so many production stop s and starts.

But first thing sslowed down because of COVID lockdowns. Then the strike. And now the fires in CA.

I don't kno wif that accounts for all of it, but I think some of the scheduling disruptions are from things beyond network preference.

There have always been breaks in seasons because networks have to air 22 episodes between October and May so they can't air a new episode every week. Although I think there used to be more shorter breaks where you'd have one or two weeks without a new episode. Now networks seem to prefer to have less but longer breaks in the season.

Back in the day half-hour comedies would run 30-35 episodes in a season.

I thought we knew in the BBT that Georgie was married multiple times and has become somewhat jaded as a result.

I'm not sure I like the tango and I defo don't like the show's musical puntuation.  In general, I'm really likeing everything about the show except Connor (whose oddity seems formulaic) - nothing against the actor, I just don't think the role should be there.

I am usually pro-tangoes, but the opening tango on this show is terrible and I wish they'd get rid of it. It also doesn't at all fit the tone of the rest of the show.

I couldn't agree more. I wince every time it comes on and fast forward through it. I usually love any excuse to insert a tango into something, but it feels like chalk on a blackboard here.

Any of which would be far more fitting than the tango.

That's a good idea. Have both the younger and older couple do a square dance and Conner play an instrument in the opening credits. Like how on YS, they eventually had the entire family in the opening.

Because the tango is a dance of passion and romance and this show is not it.

eta I guess they don't have enough people for a square dance, but a line dance is good too. With one of them holding CeeCee.

Is anybody else already checking out even while they're watching?  I notice there aren't a lot of comments for most episodes, especially the recent ones.  Compared to Ghosts which follows this show it's even more noticeable.

Does anyone care, at this point, what happens to Georgie and Mandy?  For me I am watching to see if anything actually happens and because I want to care about them.  But so far I pretty much don't....

I have this on while surfing the internet. I know what's happening but I may miss details or a few lines. I pay full attention while watching Ghost. I like this show well enough to pass the time, but I wouldn't miss it if it got canceled.

It's one of those shows that doesn't seem to get a reaction either way, it's just there & isn't much loved or hated by many if any.

Now, Ghosts on the other hand seems to have a love it or hate it vibe if you read the message boards. Those that hate it generally fall into 2 categories, some people just don't find it funny while others think it's not funny because the original British version is 100x better. I've tried watching it but find the British version funnier probably because I'm British & the humor is more me. I can't watch the U.S. version, it's just not funny & tries too hard to be funny for my taste.

Sorry if I’m repeating myself (I know I’ve said this somewhere recently) but I still watch this show and get an occasional laugh. I don’t hate any characters (except when they want us to hate them). I’m sure it doesn’t hurt that it’s on when I’m waiting for Ghosts

I think I’ve checked out all the new network sitcoms from the last season or two, and this is the definite top of the heap (faint praise?). I won’t be heartbroken if it’s cancelled, but I would be annoyed if it’s outlasted by something like Happy’s Place or Shifting Gears

Dimity do you watch the live broadcasts in Canada?  Is it available on streaming or cable?  Just curious about rights for different countries. Some shows don’t air same day in different countries.

It airs the same time here. I always PVR it and watch later though. Yes we can stream it and it is on cable. I think, not sure, though that we can't access it directly from cbs  online.
