The thing is, to the advisor’s point, if he’s making $35 an hour and working full-time, that’s manageable debt. There’s no reason for their day to day bills to be behind if he’s making that.

Her point is that with his income (also the show, which they’re not mentioning), the amount of debt he has is manageable with some discipline - which, of course, he lacks. If he makes $72K a year and $20K from the show (I made that show fee up), that’s $92K in small-town MO. Their mortgage and day to day can’t be that much, particularly since they don’t have child care expenses. (I have an MBA. Personal finance interests me.)
