In the June 27th episode of DC's Legends of Tomorrow (6x08-Stressed Western), David Ramsey directed and guest stars as Bass Reeves, who was "the first Black Deputy U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi River" - you can see promo pics for this episode, including pics of DR as Reeves at the following links...

From their own SM he and his wife seem to be in the habit of disagreeing with each other and drinking heavily. Those two things don't mix well on a plane. It must have been loud/aggressive for him to get escorted off.

This isn't really the press he needs with a new show coming soon.

I can’t imagine a video not surfacing. Sounds ugly. Says something to me that his wife choose not to exit the plane with him.

Side note, RIP Jar. Aisha and Carnia unfollowed him on SM and it looks like they both deleted pictures with him on IG. I wonder if they are going to get their Jar tattoos removed.

I don't think The Jar was ever going to stand the test of time, especially once Arrow finished. Just out of curiosity I wonder if he and Emily are still friends or if that's gone by the way side after everything last year as well. Of course Aisha and Carina were part of a LOT of stupidity with him last year.

I also think it's hilarious/annoying that on several of the gossip sites I've checked for the news there are comments about "batshit crazy Olicities who hates his wife and forced the writers to change the love story of the entire show".  Not sure what that had to do with an article about him having a row with his wife but hey, we're famous for "forcing" the writers to write Olicity. Because we all loved 4B right? ;)

I know there is a distinction between being forcibly removed and leaving of your own recognizance, but there's not much difference in my mind. How do you ever let it get so bad on a plane that you get asked to leave? Besides alcohol.

This is probably the most press his show will get and just looking through his tag, there are plenty that are in support of him so I dont think it'll do any harm.

It's getting to be a habit - KL joined the regular cast in the final season of Hawaii Five-O and now she's joining the regular cast of what might or might not be the final season of NCIS...

NCIS: Gary Cole Officially Joins Cast, But Not as Gibbs 'Replacement' — Katrina Law Upped to Series Regular
By Matt Webb Mitovich / June 22 2021

Additionally, CBS has confirmed that Katrina Law, as indicated with her initial casting, will return for Season 19 as a series regular, as Special Agent Jessica Knight. Introduced in the last two episodes of Season 18, Knight is a REACT (Regional Enforcement Action Capabilities Training Team) agent who specializes in hostage negotiations and handles daily high-risk operations with skill and precision. Sharp, athletic and tough, she is fiercely tenacious and with a wry sense of humor.

“We haven’t shot a single frame quite yet, but with the addition of Gary Cole and Katrina Law to the cast, this is already shaping up to be one of the best seasons yet,” NCIS showrunner Steven D. Binder said in a statement. “Going into Season 19, we are excited to have new characters and stories to tell that adds to and re-energizes the world we’ve come to love over the 400-plus episodes.”

It can't be great, moving your family to a different city only to have the show close in your first season. Hopefully she'll get on an NCIS spinoff if the mothership ends.

I really wish SA would get some professional help for his drinking and the other issues before he tanks his life and Mavi's too.

I only transcribed KM's Arrow-related comments in this Collider interview...

Katherine McNamara on Shadowhunters, Arrow, and Untitled Horror Movie
Collider Interviews   Jun 24, 2021

-- KM: "Joining the Arrowverse in and of itself was such a pleasure. I mean, coming off of Shadowhunters, I was so bummed, thinking that I wouldn't - my next job probably wouldn't be as, uh, active or as stunt heavy, and I wouldn't have a chance to use those fighting skills at work every day or to be immersed in a fandom in a world like Shadowhunters. And then Arrow happened and I was so thrilled to be able to dive in head first. Granted, I didn't know until after I was cast that I would be playing Oliver and Felicity's daughter, which is once again a whole level of responsibility that I was not expecting, but was very excited and - and ready for the challenge of diving in and going, 'How do I take these two characters and this relationship that is so beloved by the fandom and do justice by it and - and create a character that's an amalgamation of these two really specific, really wonderfully developed humans?' Um, and I was just so grateful that Stephen and Emily and everyone on the show and in the - in the whole Arrowverse welcomed me in with open arms and - and just made me feel so at home - including the fandom as well. You know, I was a bit nervous to see how - how they would accept me and what they would think, because the take that - that we took with her was - was very distinct, and there was really - you were either - you either loved it or not. And most people really took to Mia and I was so grateful for that."

-- When asked about Green Arrow and the Canaries not going forward and not being able to continue Mia's story, KM: "Um, but yeah, I mean, look, the one thing you're always sure of in the entertainment industry is that eventually a job will come to a close. Um, but the great thing about the Arrowverse and the great thing about Mia is that, you know, the - the Arrowverse still exists and Mia lives on, and comic cons, and as people re-watch the show, and - and all of these things that, you know, continue to happen. And as much I would have loved to continue her story, I was just so grateful to be a part of it."

-- When asked if she was told why the decision was made not to go forward with this spinoff, KM said that, in her experience, the actors are usually the last to know and that she doesn't know why. She added that she wished the spinoff had gone forward and had been "excited to see what the future held," but "that's how the cookie crumbles."

-- When asked if she was "game" to return to playing Mia in some capacity, especially if the Legends find themselves in 2040, KM said that she has no idea what their plans are, but that she would "jump at the chance to play Mia again."

David Ramsey on Directing Legends, Bass Reeves & John Diggle’s Destiny
Craig Byrne   June 25, 2021
http://www.ksitetv.com/interviews-2/david-ramsey-on-directing-legends-bass-reeves-john-diggles-destiny/217090/

Quote

When you heard that you’d be playing a different character from Diggle on Legends, did you kind of expect it to be Green Lantern like the fans did?
Yes. I’ll say this: There were some very specific plans. I won’t go into what those plans were, but the plans when the appearance of John Diggle were pitched to me in 2019, they were different than what we’re seeing now. But then 2020 happened, and there are logistical challenges, and as you know, there was no big crossover. A lot of things changes in terms of the storytelling, and in terms of how John Diggle fit within that story, in a larger sense. So what came out of that was talking about the consequences of John Diggle refusing whatever was in that box; to start there.

Ultimately, John Diggle’s destiny is to be part of the fraternity he’s always been skeptical about; this otherworldly fraternity. He’s always been skeptical. Look: John Diggle is an army serviceman. He’s done three years of Afghanistan. People who can run faster than lightning and move faster than light, that’s not of his wheelhouse. We’ve gone to great strides got to tell that story with John every time he runs with the Flash, he throws up. He had a particular reaction to Supergirl when he saw her fly. He lost his best friend to the Spectre. He lost his daughter to Flashpoint with Barry Allen, and then he got his daughter back. So the last thing he wants to do right now is to be part of some intergalactic fraternity.

But ultimately, John Diggle’s destiny is bigger than being Earthbound. So to kind of deny that right now is, is what we’re telling. So I’m being very long winded. We’re trying to skirt something and tell you on the things. But at the end of the day, this story that we’re telling across these five episodes of John Diggle, or four episodes outside of Legends, is about the consequences of denying whatever was in that box.

To speak about the character you are playing in Legends, how familiar were you with the real Bass Reeves?
Not as much as I probably should have been. I knew about Sheriff Bass Reeves, and I saw a documentary on him. I saw him like everyone else being portrayed on The Watchmen. I didn’t do much research on him, but I did once I was told I was playing him. My expectation when I was told that I would appear on Legends, was that he would be at least some version of John Diggle. But we’re going to say that some place in John Diggle’s lineage, Sheriff Bass Reeves was there. I just think that really fits into the irreverent tone of Legends. I think that’s a lot of fun.

What I hope is that somebody Googles him and says “hey, I’m a little more educated about Bass Reeves!” I think that’s great. I think that’s one of the better things that television can do, is educate and entertain. That’s my hope.
*  *  *
If John finds out about Luke Fox becoming Batwing, would he have any fears of Luke running into some of the same kind of challenges that Oliver Queen ran into?
I think so. I think part of John Diggle’s refusal of whatever is in that box is his attempt to hold on to his own humanity. It was the same, if you will, compelling that John gave to Oliver Queen. He met Oliver Queen as a cold blooded murderer, if you remember the first season, and part of his compelling to Oliver was to hold on to his humanity. And that each time you do kill, part of it is stripped away. That’s part of what he told Oliver Queen in the first season. He along with Felicity Smoak kind of helped form him into this hero. To me, that is part of the superpower of John Diggle. This an Army serviceman. Every person has their own kind of power, and he’s stepped into this superhero role as a human. And kind of keeping his humanity intact, and spreading that gospel of keeping your humanity intact to every single hero that he meets… I think that’s part of what makes him unique and beloved by the people watching, to some degree. So, I think by keeping Luke Fox on that trajectory is very compelling, particularly in Gotham, where it’s very much as dark and seedy, even more so, than Star City. And also Luke has been injured by life. He was shot. He saw the other side. Some of that stuff gives a weight to Luke Fox that challenges his humanity as he becomes a vigilante, that a character like John Diggle can help him stay on the path of.

If the producers of the Green Lantern show asked you to come in as John Stewart, would you want to do it?
That’s another good question. I would I would say that, like everything, it’s always about story. Always.

The short answer to that is that Greg Berlanti’s track record speaks for itself, so any time he calls, you listen. So I have no doubt that if I was asked to step into the John Stewart mythos that it would be something that’s incredibly layered and incredibly well thought out. So the answer would be yes. I took a long time to say that, but the answer would be yes.

Anna Hopkins talks about Arrow starting at around the 27.05 mark...

The Very Creative Podcast w/Gabriel Veiga EP24: Anna Hopkins
The Very Creative Podcast    Premiered May 4, 2021

-- Anna Hopkins: "Right as I moved to Toronto, I got an audition for Arrow and it was for, um, I think - I think I know now - well, I know it was for, um - I forget all the names - Black Canary, I guess. So it would've been - yeah, so I got this audition - I got a callback. And actually, I was doing - it was right at the time I was doing a Québécois movie called Limitless [unintelligible words]."
Podcaster Gabriel Vega: "Was it after Katie Cassidy's, uh, character's death or -"
AH: "No... I believe it was for Katie Cassidy's role... So it was back in - I want to say like 2013, 14? Okay, so, yes, exactly. Katie Cassidy ended up getting that role... I had callbacks for that role. And, um, they never tell you what you're auditioning for. But I remember there was many, many scenes where they made it - um, the scenes were between a brother and a sister... Is that - are they -they're not - ?"
GV: "No, no, no. There's no brother and sister."
AH: "They're not real scenes, right? So - but they were just trying to get this dynamic of, um, sort of a past. And they're very emotional scenes. And - and I got - "
GV: "It's because she has a sister on the show... played by Caity Lotz."
AH: "You know what? That's the - that's the role. Caity Lotz - yeah, she's the one. Katie Cassidy was already cast... Yes, it's Caity Lotz that got this role. So who does she play?"
GV: "The White Canary."
AH: "Yeah. So that's who it was... Anyways, yeah, it got super close. They said it's between you and one other person... I had a new agent in Toronto and she said, you know, this is huge, this is a big role, because I didn't know anything about the show. And then finally I got the call saying, it's not you."

(tv echo: In a previous TVLine interview, AH said that she auditioned for the role of Sara Lance.)

-- AH: "A year goes by, maybe a year and a half - I don't remember - and I go down to Los Angeles, because I start going every year to go audition, audition, audition, audition... for pilot season. And, um, the casting director of Arrow give me a - sends me an audition. And they say, you know, we really liked you two years ago or whatever, we'd love to see you... And, uh, yeah, auditioned for - they didn't tell me who it was - at the time the - the scenes were - I remember, she was - I was playing a journalist. And, um, had another callback. The second time I went in there was all the - all the execs, the creators, everybody. And they said, yeah, you got the part, we're still not going to tell you who it is and, um, you're going - we're going to fly you to L.A. - uh, we're going to fly to Vancouver. So I go to Vancouver and, I think, yeah, a couple of days before, they - they finally tell me, like, this is your character and and you - uh, this is your backstory, and you, you know, had a baby with Oliver Queen. I was like, what? This is crazy... My first episode was with, um, Oliver's mom, where she gives me the check. And that began the - the Arrow experience."

-- When GV asked what it was like working with Stephen Amell, AH: "Oh, it was wonderful. It was - um, yeah, again, like my first day was, um, I didn't meet him yet. But once we finally met, we became friends really quickly. Such a nice guy. Um, really welcomed me in very - you know, he - he - everyone says this, but he sets such a great tone for the whole set."

-- AH: "So, yeah, after that, they - they would just - I would just get these calls out of the blue, saying, you know, are you available next month, today we're gonna fly you out, we have another episode or something. And I'd say, okay... There were certain periods where I couldn't, and so I missed out, they wouldn't write me in... And then sometimes they would ask for my availability and I was available, and they would say, never mind, we're not doing it anymore. So you could tell that they're - the way that they were writing was very fluid. Like, sometimes they would play with the idea of bringing me back and they didn't, or they did sometimes. So it was always very, very - it was a very fun kind of thing in the back of my mind that sometimes you just get a call and you're just off to Vancouver. ... Yeah, I would go straight into my routines when I got there. I would go straight to Stanley Park. I would run on the seawall. It was such an amazing job that just once in a while you just head up there."

-- AH: "And Stephen, yeah, was always the best. And I remember, you know, nearing the end of the series, um, he was talking to me about how he really wanted, uh, Samantha to stay, because he liked the idea that Oliver had, um, a relationship with a female character that wasn't romantic. He thought that was like a really - and I agree - like, it's a really interesting - it's very different from all of the other, uh, you know, relationships that he has. So he wanted to explore that. He liked the idea of that sort of co-parenting, you know, idea for his character. Um, and he was like, you know, I'm rooting for you to live, like, I really want you to live. And I was like, me, too. And I think, yeah, he said that when we all did that big, big - I guess it was a big crossover, like, I was kidnapped and - yeah, I don't remember."
GV: "Was that your last episode? 'Cause when you went out, uh, when your death scene - spoiler alert - uh, it was in the Season 5 finale, right? So... that was favorite episode of the show, by the way."
AH: "Yes. That was my final - yeah, so - so I guess - yeah, I guess he brought that up before that. And I remember he was in Toronto doing Code 8. ... So, yeah, he was town and he was shooting very close to my house. So I was like, oh, I'll come by and say 'hi.' And I went over and - and I was like, so any news? And he goes, 'It's not good news.' (Laughs) And he told me. And I go, 'So how do I die?' And he goes, 'Very badly.' ... And we laughed, and I was like, 'All right.' Well, you know, like, that's just how, you know, this story will go. And - and so then I finally got the next episode, and I read it. And, uh - and, yeah, we shot that. And then that final - you know, he's holding me and - and I die. And, you know, that was it. And so it was the end of an era. It was a couple of years of really interesting - um, you know, I'm so glad I could be a little bit part of this - of the universe. It's an awesome, awesome show."

-- AH: "I remember when I first - when my first episode aired, I got a taste of - of some of the - the dark - the darker part of the fandom. Everyone hated me because I was, you know, apparently putting some sort of wrench between Felicity and Oliver. But by the end, I was - you know, people seem to have - they - no one really loved - like, there's some people that love Samantha, but most people are like, you know, why did you, like, get involved? And you should have done this and you should have done that. But by the end a lot of people were saying, you know, actually, we have a lot of sympathy for her, and she should have lived. (Laughs) And I'm like, thank you. I appreciate that."

The Arrowverse is struggling. Can its creators rebuild?
By Joshua Rivera   June 20, 2021
https://www.polygon.com/entertainment/22539110/flash-supergirl-superman-lois-arrowverse-episodes-problem

Quote

In order to make the drama feel distinct, the showrunners behind the Arrowverse tried to assemble dramatically different casts of characters — but it proved to be a struggle. Arrow set a template: Over time, the hero of a given series builds out their own team — there’s someone to do tech support (Felicity on Arrow, Cisco on The Flash, Luke Fox on Batwoman, etc), along with another costumed hero or two to support or serve as mentee — and the assembled crew serves as extra-judicial crimefighters covering their city. The differences, then, became tonal. Arrow was grim and didn’t really feature superpowers, while The Flash was bright and infused with the fantastic. Supergirl continued the trend, having its hero work with the government’s Department of Extranormal Operations, but suffusing the series with a strong focus on LGBTQ characters and plots that often featured aliens as an immigration metaphor, striving for real-world relevance in a way its predecessors did not. Then Legends of Tomorrow skipped a few steps and had a time traveler gather a random assortment of supporting players together from the other Arrowverse shows to have them go on adventures together.
*  *  *
A decade ago, when Arrow premiered, the show’s creators weren’t necessarily trying to distance the series from comic books or the MCU, but Smallville. The teen soap about a pre-Superman Clark Kent wasn’t just one of the most successful small-screen takes on superheroes at the time, but also the first live-action iteration of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, played by Justin Hartley in the latter five of the show’s ten seasons. It had also just ended the year before Arrow premiered, and the new show had to overcompensate to distinguish itself with grimness and characters that felt a bit more “adult.”
*  *  *
But despite its aggro aspirations, Arrow was a CW show through and through. At its creative peak in season 2, the series embraced its four-color source material and broadcast home in equal measure, dialing up both the soap operatics and vigilante action. This was, and remains, the pleasure of the Arrowverse — seeing superheroes where they arguably belong, on a network that specializes in the same kind of lowbrow pulpy fair that is equally eschewed by a critical establishment that prides itself on its more refined tastes.
*  *  *
None of these shows are showing a hint of crossing over, giving them the space to thrive or flounder in their own identities. Granted, there is a soft thread running through the Arrowverse in the coming weeks — former Arrow character John Diggle (David Ramsey) will be appearing in a mysterious capacity on each show — but it sounds less like a crossover than a reminder that these shows all take place in the same world. Frankly, that’s what the Arrowverse needs right now: Less ambitious crossovers, more stories about people we care about. There is nothing left for superhero media to prove — only that it can tell stories about a wider spectrum of people in all sorts of ways that feel authentic and relevant.

Legends of Tomorrow: David Ramsey Teases His Coen Brothers-Inspired Western
BY MEAGAN DAMORE    JUNE 26, 2021
https://www.cbr.com/legends-tomorrow-david-ramsey-preview-interview/

Quote

CBR: Welcome back to the Arrowverse! What was it like to be back in the middle of the DC Universe again?
David Ramsey:
Well, it's like the mob, right? You're never really out of it. So there's that. But it's great. It's great. I like to think that we hold the name Arrowverse, because Arrow started it all. That makes me feel great, right, to still be a part of that.
*  *  *
At what point did you discover you'd be playing an entirely new character in Legends of Tomorrow? How was that pitched to you?
When I was pitched, "Hey, David, we want you to direct and reprise Diggle across the Arrowverse, and some of these episodes, we actually want you to direct and guest star." I loved Diggle. I love the fans. I love CW, love Warner Bros, love the Arrowverse. And direct?! It was a no brainer, right?

Well, COVID happened. 2020 disappeared, and some things changed as to how we're going to approach Diggle across the universe. One of those changes was what we were going to do on Legends. So I was approached by the showrunners and the writers and they said, "We think we have a great idea with Legends. We don't want to touch John Diggle at all. We're on a timeship. Wouldn't it be interesting that, if someplace within John Diggle history, he's a distant relative of Sheriff Bass?" And I said, "Well, that's interesting! What's the story?" They told me that Sara would be coming back and it'd be the first time we see Sara and Bass would be part of that, but it'd be kind of mixed up. He'd be a bad guy, but not really a bad guy, just because of this alien. Well, then they go into all this Legends stuff. Fantastic!

So yes. The answer to your question is yes. This is the first time I'm ever playing a different character, but it was pitched to me: "You play Bass Reeves." Absolutely I'm going to play Bass Reeves! That's the funniest thing in the world! He just so happened to be someplace! In pure Legends fashion, we don't spell it out. We don't say, "Hey, look, he's a distant relative of John Diggle." We just have John Diggle playing him, or someone who looks like John Diggle but was really Bass Reeves playing him, and it's fun! It's very Legends.

Also, I think there was a certain expectation: "Oh, you're in a timeship! Last time we saw John Diggle, he encountered a green box. Maybe that's what we're going to talk about on Legends!" I think, in pure Legends fashion, it turns it on his heel: "Nope, it's not what you expect! It's actually something totally different!" I think that's the fun, the continued fun and irreverence of Legends. So I think Bass Reeves, played by John Diggle, is completely the story you want to tell on a show like Legends.

For the Love of Superheroes: 15 Best Couples of the Arrowverse
Charles E. Henning   June 14, 2021
https://telltaletv.com/2021/06/for-the-love-of-superheroes-15-best-couples-of-the-arrowverse/

Quote

Every week on our favorite shows of the Arrowverse our heroes get beat down, bloodied, and outwitted until the very last minute. They have their team to back them up, but they are no substitute for our hero’s one true love. Romantic love can be the thing that gets you through the toughest of times.
*  *  *
A hand to hold during the darkest of nights or lips to kiss amid the bleakest of plot twists can be all it takes to give our heroes that extra surge of energy to make it to the finish line.
*  *  *
That brings us to this list. A comprehensive guide to the top-tier lovers who we have watched with bated breath. A catalog of twosomes that defy relationship standards — making their impact in our hearts for eternity.

Or to put it more simply, an inventory of couples we are enamored with (in no particular order, of course).
*  *  *
15. Oliver and Felicity (Arrow)
...
Oliver and Felicity rewrote history.

In the comics, Oliver Queen has always been seen by Black Canary’s side, making them one of the best superhero couples of all time. But through what appears to be fan participation on social media, the script was flipped and the titular hero ended up with someone completely different.

Felicity Smoak, a quirky computer hacker with the knowledge to upend corporations without a second thought, and Oliver Queen, the grittiest vigilante outside of Gotham, snuggled up to become the beauty and the geek.

Their relationship gave people everywhere hope for the unexpected, and the idea that a happy ending can come from anywhere — even a mundane day job.

Legends of Tomorrow: David Ramsey Reckons With Diggle's Past & Future
BY MEAGAN DAMORE   JUNE 27, 2021
https://www.cbr.com/legends-tomorrow-david-ramsey-post-interview/

Quote

[CBR:] What can you tease about your next Arrowverse appearance as John Diggle?
[David Ramsey:] Yeah, John Diggle has... Let's see. He's appeared on Batwoman. Here's the story we're telling with John Diggle -- and obviously Legends, as it should be, is the exception. Legends is just so irreverent; it's so awesome.

But John Diggle has refused the call of whatever it was in the box that he saw in the finale of Arrow in 2019. Whatever was in that green glowing box, he has denied. There are consequences to that. The next time we see him, which will be I believe either Superman & Lois or Flash, we continue the story of what those consequences are.

This is just the beginning of really honing into John Diggle's ultimate cosmic destiny, and it is a cosmic destiny, ultimately. But we're taking our time doing it, and I applaud the writers and showrunners for doing that. The next time you see John Diggle, he continues the storytelling of what those consequences are for denying what he saw in the box.

In honor of Pride Month, DC spotlighted LGBTQIA+ superheroes on TV - here's an excerpt from their interview with Caity Lotz...

DCTV Pride Profile: White Canary
By DC   June 29, 2021
https://www.dccomics.com/blog/2021/06/29/dctv-pride-profile-white-canary

Quote

Is there a moment from White Canary’s appearances in the comics that inspired an aspect of your character?
Not really because I think it was largely Laurel Lance who was the version of Black Canary that you mostly see in the comics. I think Sara Lance was kind of her own little thing. She had her own story.

EXCLUSIVE: Neal McDonough (Captain America: The First Avenger, American Horror Story) has signed on to star in Dominic Scott Kay’s debut feature Drops of Jupiter.

The film, penned by Kay during quarantine, examines the deep connection between a blind boy named Lion (Kay) and an Australian girl with hemophilia named Eloise, watching as the pair live vicariously through each other’s perspectives.

In the “romantic psychological fantasy,” which is said to blur the lines between reality and imagination, McDonough will play Dia, the king of a world known as Tara. The actor will also produce the pic alongside his wife, Ruvé McDonough.

Like the Hulk in the MCU movies, Diggle seems to have a character subplot that has him hopscotching through most of the Arrowverse shows (except LoT, where DR played a non-Diggle character). Diggle has now showed up in Gotham City on Batwoman and in Central City on The Flash. Diggle still has to appear on Superman & Lois (next week) and Supergirl (TBA), so those two remaining episodes should complete his story arc. It does not look like DR will be showing up on Black Lightning, probably because that show shoots in Atlanta.

The Flash: David Ramsey Teases Diggle's "Galactic Destiny"
By NICOLE DRUM - July 6, 2021
https://comicbook.com/dc/news/the-flash-david-ramsey-diggle-green-lantern-galactic-destiny/

Quote

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Ramsey explained that while each of his appearances as Diggle this season on the various Arrowverse shows have fit into those shows' storyline, Diggle's also keeping his own secrets. As fans will recall, during the Arrow series finale, Diggle was last seen with a mysterious, glowing green box that had fans thinking he would be going on to become a Green Lantern. However, Ramsey explains that Diggle refused whatever that box was inviting him to and it has consequences, consequences that they will get deeper into on The Flash.

"Obviously he has the deepest history with Flash because he knows all the characters on Flash. So, every time he appears on these shows, he fits within the storytelling of that specific episode," Ramsey said. "But he's kind of hiding something in his back pocket. And we started telling that on Batwoman. They kind of have these headaches that he's kind of there to see a doctor. Ultimately, what he saw in the box, he declined the invitation to. That decision has consequences. And we start telling ultimately, his cosmic destiny if you will, his kind of galactic destiny if you will. We begin to tell the consequences of denying that through this kind of crossover that we're doing."
*  *  *
Of course, while The Flash will take the story the deepest, that doesn't mean we'll see Diggle suit up as Green Lantern. Ramsey still has appearances on both Superman & Lois and Supergirl coming up as well that will continue his character's story. While Supergirl won't return for its final batch of episodes until Tuesday, August 10, Ramsey's Superman & Lois appearance is in next week's episode "Through the Valley of Death" which will air on Tuesday, July 13.

The State of the Arrowverse – Past, Present, Future
By Eric Frederiksen -July 11, 2021
https://batman-news.com/2021/07/11/the-state-of-the-arrowverse-past-present-future/

Quote

There was a time when the Arrowverse was, for me, the most exciting thing on TV. It was weird and ambitious. It was silly and comic-booky. Fresh off of Deathstroke on Arrow, the Flash started boldly with Reverse-Flash. Crossovers grew in size and scope with Invasion! and then Crisis on Earth-X. Then, Crisis on Infinite Earths happened. It was huge, exciting, and worked incredibly considering what it was attempting–but like Avengers Endgame, it was so big that it kind of let all the air out of the room. We’re now deep into the first post-Crisis season and it’s worth taking a look at where the Arrowverse–call it the CWverse if you like–is at.
*  *  *
And yet, some of these problems have been brewing for years, and we can put only so much responsibility on COVID before the shows themselves have to start taking it on.
*  *  *
Arrow‘s ending was special; despite some really bumpy seasons, the show finished strong with a great, shortened eighth season that gave the show a great chance to say goodbye to the characters and world. It was a celebration of a show that kicked off something special, and it felt like a complete–if slightly stretched–arc for the Green Arrow himself and his story.
*  *  *
Despite the hate that the Arrowverse often gets, it should go without saying that it’s something truly special. If you’d told us a decade ago that we’d have 628 episodes and 471 hours of television (to date) specifically devoted to heroes like Supergirl, Superman, the Flash, and more, we’d never have believed you. It’s a miracle that the Arrowverse exists, and that as much of it is as watchable as it is–it’s hard to make this much television.

With that said, the Arrowverse is in somewhat of a transitional state. Arrow is over, Supergirl is ending, and the Flash has been struggling for years–those shows where every civilian character eventually develops superpowers and they all hang out at an inexplicably huge base that no one is paying for are dying out. Superman and Lois shows us that there are still things to be done with superhero shows on television, but the Old Ways are on their way out. Batwoman needs an overhaul, and I can only hope that Legends is able to keep things as fresh as it has.

A few years ago it seemed like the Arrowverse could go on forever. I still hope it does–I love these characters and this world. But right now, the CW, Greg Berlanti, and the rest need to be doing some major soul-searching to figure out what the future looks like.

DR appeared as John Diggle in last night's episode of Superman and Lois (1x12-Through the Valley of Death). What did he do? Not much...

John Diggle shows up, telling Lois her father needed “special tech” so they sent him over. Lois puts two and two together and storms into the room where Sam is. Diggle is just as mad, saying that he never would have agreed. Lois also tells them it’s possible to fight against the eradication. Jon and Jordan rush in needing to speak to their mother immediately.

Which Is Your Favorite David Ramsey 2021 Arrowverse Appearance So Far? (POLL)
Meredith Jacobs  July 14, 2021
https://www.tvinsider.com/1005594/david-ramsey-batwoman-legends-of-tomorrow-flash-superman-lois/

Arrow may have ended in January 2020, but fortunately, fans haven’t had to say goodbye to all of its characters just yet. David Ramsey, who played John Diggle/Spartan, has popped up on four Arrowverse shows in 2021 so far (with a fifth appearance coming on Supergirl in September) and directed a few episodes.

Last we saw Diggle in the Arrow series finale, he came across a glowing green box (presumably a Green Lantern Corps tease). “He’s hearing voices and having terrible headaches,” Ramsey told TV Insider in May. The voices are debilitating and they become louder and louder and louder. We eventually hear what the voices are saying to him. And the assumption is that it’s coming from part of the consequence of rejecting this cosmic offer.”

The 10 Funniest Quotes From The Arrowverse
BY DAVID STEWART    JULY 12, 2021
https://www.cbr.com/arrowverse-funniest-quotes/

Quote

8/10  "It Feels Really Good Having You Inside Me"
...
Felicity Smoak, portrayed by Emily Bett Rickards, was a light-hearted addition to the darker world of Arrow. In her early appearances, she would often ramble on and keep talking whenever she felt nervous and this led to numerous slip-ups that left audiences in stitches.

In the first season episode, "The Undertaking," Felicity goes undercover to help the team gain much-needed intel. While trying to remain cool, she communicates with Oliver through an earpiece and comes out with the doozy "It feels really good having you inside me." Her attempts to fix the mistake only made things more awkward.
*  *  *
4/10  "I Was Gonna Go With 'Oracle' But It's Taken"
...
In season 4 of Arrow, Felicity worked as full-time tech support for Oliver and the team and until then, she didn't have a unique codename like everyone else. During a mission, Oliver refers to Felicity as "Overwatch" as they speak via his headset.

Confused, she asks for clarification and Oliver states that it was about time she had her own codename. She loves the new title and he quickly states that his original idea was "Oracle," but it was already in use. This was a great nod to the as-yet-unseen Batman side of the Arrowverse and the character of Barbara Gordon.

10/10 "Quiet, The Marshmallows Are Talking" (Nate Heywood, DC's Legends of Tomorrow)
9/10  "Is This Cosplay?" (Ezra Miller's Flash, Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover)
8/10  "It Feels Really Good Having You Inside Me" (Felicity Smoak, Arrow)
7/10  "Are You Puffing Out Your Chest?" (Barry Allen, Elseworlds crossover)
6/10  "Bunch Of Superheroes In A Farmhouse? Feel Like I've Seen That In A Movie Before" (Thea Queen, "Legends of Yesterday," Arrow)
5/10  "You're Trying To Turn Me Into Spider-Man?" (Jefferson "Jax" Jackson, Crisis On Earth-X crossover)
4/10  "I Was Gonna Go With 'Oracle' But It's Taken" (Oliver Queen, Arrow)
3/10  "She Really Kinda Looks Like My Cousin" (Ray Palmer, Invasion! crossover)
2/10  "How Can You Have Super Speed And Still Not Be On Time?" (Oliver Queen, "Flash vs. Arrow," The Flash)
1/10  "Beebo Want Cuddles" (Beebo, DC's Legends of Tomorrow)

Instead of putting a lot of time and effort into reaching out to reps who aren’t likely to take on a brand new writer, Guggenheim encourages writers to put their energies into creating their samples. As for what he’s looking for in a sample, Guggenheim remarks, “I’m looking for something that shows how their brain works. If you want to be a writer, I take it as a given that your writing is good. What I’m looking for is, how does this person think? In many ways, it’s got to be present on the first five to ten pages.”

“The problem a lot of writers have is they’re writing pilots when they should be writing samples. A sample does a different job. You’re trying to get someone to read past page ten. You’re trying to get someone to like your writing enough to meet with you.”

While showrunners have a variety of approaches to staffing, for many, the biggest source for finding new talent is through the assistant ranks.
