Snazzy Daisy January 6, 2023 Share January 6, 2023 CSI: Vegas: Jay Lee Previews Chris’s Side Hustle & Praises Legacy Actors Can you give us any hints on when Greg Sanders is coming back? I probably can't say, but I will say that when Eric and I first worked together, it felt like a reunion from my past life, knowing that he and Jorja Fox have remained pals and are good friends. Jorja and I go surfing together, and she speaks so highly of him, so it's good to meet him in person finally. But aside from that, I probably shouldn't reveal his return date. How many more episodes of CSI: Vegas do we have? We're going to have 21 episodes total for the season. So, this Thursday is episode 10. So we've got 11 episodes for the rest of this season. 2 2 Link to comment

It’s a little bit less a puzzle box and a lot of moody speculation about a big case and it’s a lot more with our characters. slowpoked April 22 Share April 22 Aww, this is too bad. I have the feeling it’s on the bubble after it was moved to Sundays, and with so many procedurals right now, it just didn’t stand out, even for nostalgia purposes. Sad we didn’t even get to see what Nick Stokes is up to now. I know there was a throwaway line in S1 that he’s in LA(?), but at least make up a story that will bring him to Vegas. 1 Link to comment

CBS released synopses of final episodes for all their series. Here's the one for CSI: Vegas (under the spoiler tag). May 19th. Spoiler After an explosion in a bio lab, the CSI team races to determine which nerve agent left one of their own unconscious, while the others explore a dangerous underground tunnel to find another CSI who got kidnapped during the blast. Certainly sounds like it can't be finished in the hour to me. 1 1 Link to comment

They tried to recreate the Sarah-Grissom storyline and it just sucked! Allie was annoying, and Josh was too brooding. I’d rather see Penny and Jack’s wedding. One of the previously unsolved cases, that I personally would like to see revisited, was that of Catherine’s ex-husband’s homicide. I thought that case would have been nice to actually get its own episode, rather than stashed with another Lady Heather case. The ending where Sara just sorts of throws her hands in the air and gives up seemed abrupt, and highly unusual to me. Edited April 25 by slowpoked 1 Link to comment
GiandujaPie April 25 Share April 25 Well that's disappointing. Seems like a lot of the shows that I watch on regular broadcast TV are getting cancelled despite decent ratings. I know the networks complain that viewership overall is down, but when they keep cancelling shows that do decently in the ratings, it makes it hard to invest in new shows. It's like they are pushing us to streaming platforms or to just not watch at all. 4 Link to comment
Bookworm13 May 6 Share May 6 I’m not sure why they couldn’t transition this show into being more COTW instead of creating an entire new show or where they think could be more interesting than Vegas. I’ll give it a chance, though. Nothing could be worse than Miami. 3 Link to comment
milkyaqua May 6 Share May 6 Agree, why not just leave this CSI and go over to COTW stories. Heck, most of the time when shows do these long drawn out storylines, TPTB don't bother keeping track of the plot points and consistently retcon and assume the audience is as dumb as a box of rocks. COTW makes it a lot easier for folks to follow in general and TPTB don't have to look like complete idiots trying to juggle multiple threads. And yes, nothing could be as comical as CSI Miami. 3 Link to comment

I imagine Marg commands $$$, and they probably just can’t fire her and continue in this current iteration. This cast coming into S4 may also probably want a raise. I like COTW formats. I don’t have to worry about missing episodes and then feel like I have to go back 2-3 eps just to get current. Two-part season finales work, or even in-season, like the original CSI did sometimes. But I can always catch episodes in my own time because it won’t affect the upcoming episode. 3 Link to comment

The original CSI did “arcs” pretty well, IMO. They didn’t beat you up with it in each episode, but once every now and then they revisit their storylines - Paul Milander, Lady Heather, Tammy Felton, Kelly Gordon, to name a few. The only one that sort of tired me out was the miniature killer, I probably ended up checking out of that storyline by the third miniature model. And yes, I am deliberately not counting the abomination of Ray Langston and Nate Haskell. To me, that was just a nightmare and not real CSI. 4 Link to comment

I like both for different reasons, but for me, the writers of this version of CSI cannot do multi-episode arcs well. They’re great at build-up, but IMO, the conclusions always fall flat. OG CSI had some great arcs that flowed well, and were able to weave into episodes easily. 4 Link to comment

Bookworm13 May 19 Share May 19 Of fucking course it ends with a cliffhanger. I’m 2 for 2 this week with series finales ending with cliffhangers. I’m not sure in this case, if like with So Help Me Todd, the writers were told to leave it on a cliffhanger or it’s just what happened given how late they cancelled the show that there was no way to alter/edit the ending and re-shoot a few scenes.
