When Cain's elective surgery patient returns with complications, Mina and Raptor butt heads over how to handle the situation. Conrad and Devon treat a local Congresswoman who withholds information that could prevent her from receiving proper treatment, causing Devon to open up about his grief. In the wake of losing many colleagues to the virus, Bell worries who would be there for him in a moment of crisis and finds himself mining his own past to find his estranged former stepson, elite plastic surgeon Dr. Jake Wong. Meanwhile, Logan Kim finds himself on the chopping block when the doctors are questioned about his actions during the pandemic.

Well I enjoyed it. I felt for Devon and him being haunted by his father.

I thought the Cane/AJ/Mina storyline was interesting and well done.

Nic and Conrad are expecting. Hopefully it won't be the death of the show. Babies can bring everything down.

I liked Bell trying to make amends with his former step-son.

Oliver from How To Get Away with Murder! How many episodes until he joins the staff at Chastain? That’s if there is a hospital since there is no CEO. Weird to see Jack from Dawson’s Creek play some big wig Red Rock CEO.

I understood both Mina and AJ’s point of views with Cain. At least he’s an excellent surgeon. What irritated me is that they assumed the patient got COVID from the OR. There are other ways he could have gotten it, and it was never discussed when he was diagnosed. Wouldn’t the family have sued earlier if they thought they got it from the hospital? At least now they have the whole fake emergent surgery angle.

I’m glad they didn’t ignore Devon losing his father. The healthcare system is broken.

Also hoping that the pregnancy/baby storyline doesn’t bring the show down. No dramatic miscarriage or preterm delivery please! Let Nik have a normal and boring pregnancy because there is enough drama already.

Aww, Nic and Conrad are having a baby! I expect plenty of drama, especially after Nic's miscarriage the first time they were together, but hopefully it is mostly smooth sailing for them. They deserve some form of happiness.

Devon being haunted by his father was well done. I'm glad we got to see that it's still affecting him and I loved the acknowledgement that other, poorer hospitals are understaffed and not as well off in terms of patient care.

Mina and AJ's conflict was interesting enough. I'm obviously 100% on Mina's side, but I also see why AJ was so hesitant to turn Cain in and why he wanted to give him another chance to change. I don't think Cain can change, though, and that's the issue. He IS a danger to patients and I don't see AJ being right on Cain changing. Cain's gonna cause some irreputable damage one of these days and the doctors are going to be semi responsible for that if they continue to allow Cain to do these things. Not when they have a chance to try to get him to stop, at the very least. He may be an excellent surgeon, but he's a dangerous one.

So, we meet Bell's former stepson, who is Oliver from How To Get Away With Murder. I will say, the actor isn't my favourite but he did a decent job here. And I fully expect to see him working at Chastain in the near future, or he's a doctor at the hospital where Devon's father died and that's how we see that story tie in.

He would have sued based on the false justification for needing surgery. The falsehoods were in the patient records so would be easily provable.

Just getting Covid wouldn't be enough to sue because there wouldn't have been malpractice.

The issue was twofold - most people (especially when the episode was theoretically happening) were avoiding any kind of elective surgery which did produce the paradox of hospitals losing money. So this patient would not have gone in for surgery unless Cain had lied to him. That's the basis of the suit.

Also elective surgeries were prohibited at that time because theoretically they didn't want hospital resources being used when they were overflowing with Covid patients. Every bed - especially ICU bed - taken by someone who had elective surgery is less for Covid. And of course there are medical personnel who are especially needed for ICU - patient care is worse when non-ICU personnel were recruited to care for ICU patients.

I wonder if Emily Van Camp is pregnant - my only reason for this is that I didn’t think we’d get a baby this early on. All Rise added a pregnancy to accommodate the star expecting in real life.

Well, there hasn't been official confirmation on the All Rise actress pregnancy, but even so, I do think that they planned for this. I was expecting a pregnancy at some point and I guess, with how this year has been going, they wanted it to happen this season. She COULD be pregnant, sure, but I think this was a planned storyline.

Mild Baby Spoilers

So a baby!! I'm excited, but assuming everything goes smoothly, I hope the baby takes a back seat because there is nothing more boring than baby drama!  Don't want to see them struggling to find a good babysitter, for date night, ugh!!  Just no!

I can’t look at Bells stepson without being reminded of how annoying the actor was on How to Get Away with Murder. By the scenes we’ve had so far I’ve a feeling he’s going to be more or less the same.

Devon was right in telling the congresswoman that she wasted their time by lying to them. I feel like season one Conrad would have said the same but St. Conrad of season three onwards of course understands all issues.

Very strange, I agree. Haven't seen him since watching Dawson's Creek way back in the day.

Loved this! She was ridiculous.  Reminds me of the movie Something's Gotta Give where the Jack Nicholson character has a heart attack and is reluctant to tell the doctors that he uses Viagra. He has subsequent heart attacks or anxiety attacks and learns to tell them everything that he is taking and his medical history.

Please, can Nic and Conrad have a normal pregnancy and baby? Keep it as almost a non-story.  So funny on TV how people keep the pee-pee stick somewhere to show their partner. I know urine isn't the grossest liquid, but still. You peed all over that stick!

AJ and Mina were on the same page until Cain raised the racism issue. I felt Cain was just being manipulative and AJ fell for it. Cain will say anything to get his way, and he lies all the time.
