@Christina, what the heck!?! I totally missed the scene you described!  That was in this episode?  
I am hurt for these young couples being criticized by the old couples about their living quarters.  My parents had my brother and I sleeping in the same room until I was 5 or 6.  And I know people who had their new born baby sleeping in the living room and then in their bed because they wanted them to get used to lots of activity so that when they went to college, they were prepared and desensitized.  I swear to God.  “To each their own.”

I never watch the repeats, but since I watched the last three all together way after the original airings, I'm guessing it was a bonus scene but I didn't realize it.

Ari and Bibi's apartment was fine, cute even. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Works several jobs to afford a nice place, and he's ridiculed for not being home more. Doesn't work and is ridiculed for not providing a nice home.

When we went to visit our tiny country my mom brought it up to a cousin, it was like "well you should start UBER out here" but there was something called a "dollar taxi" that was pretty much a minivan that would pick people up and take them to local venues with other local riders for a dollar, which is what 99.9% of people in the city needed.  The country and the city are fairly tiny, so people aren't using an uber to go a great distance, they just cannot afford a car and want to go to the local market or grocery store.  The internet service is horrible and if you have to really go far, you already know someone with a car who can take you.  The service was the right price, the taxis drove around all day and you could kinda catch one if you needed it (we didn't).  Uber would never make it there.  The rich ex-pats all live on the islands and even if they took the ferry to the city for supplies, the dollar taxi makes more sense, or if you are fancy, the 50 taxis just waiting at the ferry.

In very poor parts of the rural south, where there's no public transport, people do just that--someone with an old beater car, often not registered and certainly not insured, takes local folks to appointments or shopping or whatever, for a few bucks--enough to keep gas in the jalopy and some food on the table.

Remember the old song, "Tijuana Taxi"?  I've been in one!

We (a girlfriend and I) walked across the border to Tijuana, where there were rows of taxis waiting to take tourists to a shopping area.  It's not like the airport where they line up nicely, and each party in need of a taxi gets the next one.  No . . . there are a bunch of drivers out there trying to inveigle you to their taxi.  But here's the thing . . . they don't leave until the taxi is full (but you don't know that if you're a novice).  The driver put my friend and me into the front seat of his cab, slammed the door and said, "Wait here."  Then he went back to the crowd of people crossing the border until he found a party of three.  He escorted them to the back seat and THEN we rode to the shopping district.  My friend - a non-driver - was having a heart attack because of the lack of traffic laws.  It appeared that right-of-way belonged to the driver with the biggest cojones.  At one point I said to her, "You keep screaming.  I'll just close my eyes and pray."  LOL.  

When we were ready to go back, friend and I agreed NOT to get into a taxi unless WE found three people who were ready to go right away.  What a blessing.  Three young guys who looked like part of a college football defensive line came up to us and said, "Would you ladies (we were in our 40s) like to ride in a taxi with us back to the border?"  Oh, YES.  

Each of us paid $1 for the ride.  This was 30 years ago, so I assume the price has gone up.

Yep, we have that here. Several people in my county just hang out at their house all day and take people grocery shopping, to the next town for doctor appointments, etc. Most of their "clients" are either the elderly who can't drive or people who had their license stripped from DUIs. It's supplemental income on top of their SSI or unemployment. There is zero public transportation in my entire end of the state. People get creative.

This appears to be the scene of the apartment that I saw. I remember now thinking how much I would hate that tiny refrigerator, because I hate shopping and it wouldn't hold more than a few days of fish or meat.

He's living the reality of having Jenny in his day-to-day life, out in the open.  Where his parents don't approve, and won't.  Maybe envy wasn't exactly the right word.  But I wonder if it's hitting what he really is giving up to be with her, and if the reality isn't what he thought.

It's definitely an improvement over "we don't do refrigeration."

Also, didn't either of Ari's parents go to college?  Live in a dorm?  Have a starter apartment?  They're a little over-the-top in their expectations.  I remember being SO excited to move out of my parents' house, and that was sharing a bathroom down the hall, having cinderblock-and-2X4 shelving, and orange crate "end tables."  Ya gotta start somewhere!  Don't be so critical!

Right now, Jenny is working overtime to try to act young and amenable, because Sumit won't even put a promise ring on it.  She doesn't want to lose him.  I give it a year after they get married before Jenny drops the act and starts being real.  If "clip my toenails" is the honeymoon phase, the "real me" phase is going to be awful.

I think she loves playing the rebellious, independent, adventure loving gal and making her parents worry about her. Of course, she can only do that because she knows she has their safety net to fall back on.

Its very clear to me that Ari is thirsty for her father's attention.   Fred seems to work a lot, so even if she was there working in his office he probably didn't pay her very much attention.  

But she had a baby in another country.  And now look at all this attention that she is getting from Fred.  She got fred on a plane, to come to a country to see HER!  Fred is going to be worried about HER, his little girl!  Ari doesn't have to compete with a patient, she doesn't have to complete with the television, she doesn't have to compete with the rest of the family.  All his focus is on her and making sure she is cared for.  He is proving he cares with all this concern.  

Its like those kids who will fuck up just to get some attention.

Ok, I think I missed this scene, thank you for sharing, @Christina. What did Mother Ari mean when she said "I can tell Bini wants me to move in." Was she being facetious because she knew she was being nosy and critical? Mother Ari had something negative to say about everything she touched! Newborn babies are absolutely helpless and not into rolling over or climbing out of their quarters.

I suspect there was some producer manipulation with that scene, where they told them to be overly critical and it would come across as funny. You could see the way they were laughing at themselves with the comments about how small everything was, the show is notorious for doing this type of thing, and they ended up cutting it from the broadcast episode (what I posted was a bonus scene), which is something they wouldn't do for someone who wasn't a doctor, imo.

Bini clearly wasn't finding it funny and I think her little joke was supposed to be an ice breaker when they realized it. They are still snobbish and rude, though.

Brittney's friend seems really nice and gives good advice. A rare occurrence on 90DF. The fact that she seems like a decent person but is friends with Brittney gives me hope that Brittney might be a nice person underneath it all.

I don't think Brittney's "friend" ever met her before the show began.  I think she's a production assistant who was assigned to act like Brittney's friend.  It's hard for me to believe that Brittney would have any friends who "seem like a decent person."  What decent person would want to be friends with her?

His English could be better given this is his second relationship with an American woman and clearly all dialogue with these women have been in English. I don't care for either of them. Ari living in Ethiopia is a charade, nothing else. She will be back in NJ shortly either with Bini or without him. Ari being out of touch with reality is nothing new. She annoys the crap out of Bini and I see that she is finally realizing that raising a kid there is not as fun as having flings with local men in developing countries.
