dmeets September 11, 2020 Share September 11, 2020 (edited) Yeah the Tomb of Nefer-tee-tee seemed kind of... basic. Even the show made fun of it. Meh. I’d have rather they had a Triple Dutch Courage or something. All season long we could have seen contestants spun on a sort of graviton, have to tee off upside down, and get a pie in the face by clowns for every missed putt? But instead we had to keep enduring that horrible fake diving competition? I feel cheated. Not surprised at all that Tanner won. I still think it was sketchy as hell how he won his first episode despite losing in round 2 so I was disappointed overall tonight. And I’m guessing the producers were disappointed he couldn’t bring anyone in his posse to top Josh Dumahel or Zac Efron. Edited September 11, 2020 by dmeets 6 Link to comment
Maverick September 11, 2020 Share September 11, 2020 After all the buildup to the "mysterious, masterpiece" Tomb hole, it was a huge disappointment. Unlike the other holes, it was nothing like the it was depicted in the Walt Disney-inspired model. I was expecting some massive setup with a course that went inside the pyramid. When I saw the finale, I figured it had to be some multi-stage event only to find out the hole was kinda lame and the second hour was a clip show. And why did they just do the clown hole for this episode? It was odd having three of the groups do previous holes while the other had to be the guinea pigs for a new one. Also, The Distractor is not one of the toughest holes. 3 Link to comment
Rickster September 11, 2020 Share September 11, 2020 I thought the Nefertiti hole was OK, but I agree it was a letdown as the grand finale after all the build up for the whole season. I think the hosts even made a joke about that. But I guess since they decided the winner was going to have to make a hole in one to get the $250,000, which was going to probably take multiple rounds, they were not going to have them potentially fall in the water six times, or take 6 pies in the face, etc. Plus, the only player out of all the finalists I didn't want to win, ended up winning it. 6 Link to comment
CrazyInAlabama September 11, 2020 Share September 11, 2020 (edited) Next week, at 8-9 Thursday (central time) they're having part 2 of the clip show. I was amazed at how close they all came on the last hole. The best part of the clip show was the discussion of the bad weather, including when Rob ended up with the producer's parka, and Joe was freezing to death. I was amazed they would shut down production for a day and a half to build an enclosed booth for Rob and Joe. Edited September 11, 2020 by CrazyInAlabama 2 Link to comment
JTMacc99 September 11, 2020 Author Share September 11, 2020 Man, that guy can putt. Which I suppose, if you're going to win a mini-golf competition, was probably a good skill to bring with you. 1 Link to comment

lynxfx September 12, 2020 Share September 12, 2020 I didn't mind the last hole. It was a joke with all the build up and to then turn out to be kinda lame. Fits with the show. At least they turned it into a hole in one competition. By doing that they really upped the anticipation especially with so many close calls. Shame that the worst putter ended up winning. He didn't win round 2 on his episode and only got called back in. Then in the finale he couldn't putt past the porta potties. I will give him the amazing 2nd putt across 2 humps at an angle to win that round. Too bad he nailed his friend in the face with a thrown putter causing him to bleed. Ouch! He also didn't even make it past the pyramids on his first attempt unlike the other 3 players. Fun season and hope we get more. 4 Link to comment
CrazyInAlabama September 13, 2020 Share September 13, 2020 (edited) I read that Holey Moley Season 3 is probably going to happen. I liked the last hole, once they explained it was a hole in one competition. I wonder how many attempts they had to make to finally get a winner? I'm hoping they get enough money to add the 18th hole this time. I'm also hoping the fire breathing dragon hole goes away, it's just too dangerous. Guest September 13, 2020 Share September 13, 2020 (edited) I was kind of hoping Tanner wouldn't win, not because I had any real problem with him, but because at the beginning of the episode, they showed a red ball going in the hole. Once they started the last hole and I saw that Tanner had a red ball, I was hoping they wouldn't have given it away like that. But, alas. Still a fun show! I had no problem with the "letdown" of the last hole reveal, either. Very on brand for this show. Also: "Feed ma fish!" XD Edited September 13, 2020 by tracyscott76 Link to comment
Rickster September 14, 2020 Share September 14, 2020 I think this show walks a fine line between being a fun competition that still rewards skills (at least to some degree) and being a total parody of competition shows. I think the diving hole tipped too much to parody and some, like Polecano were so hard to do they seemed mean spirited (to me, anyway). I could see the build up to Nefertiti being a bit on the parody side of the line. 3 Link to comment
Suzysite September 17, 2020 Share September 17, 2020 I was wondering if they called the finale episode something different in the listings, because my DVR didn't pick it up at all. I came here hoping to see what was the holdup on showing it. Good thing ABC online had the whole thing to watch. 1 Link to comment
Grizzly September 18, 2020 Share September 18, 2020 Part Deux of the clip show was better. Show me Shatner and I'm a happy camper. Wondered why they spent time on Guttenberg but totally ignored Louganis and Michelle Wei. They should be considered bigger celebrities since their careers are a lot more successful. Pretty much agree with the hole rankings except I'd trade the places of Lovitz/shark with Curry/robot. Can't wait for next season! 1 Link to comment
lynxfx September 18, 2020 Share September 18, 2020 A good Q&A covering some of the behind the scenes and the special. https://collider.com/holey-moley-producer-charles-wachter-interview/ It cleared up how the episodes are shot. The whole season is done in 7 days and each hole is shot one at a time. So no episode is shot in sequence. Didn't expect that. 2 1 Link to comment

I didn’t realize he also wrote Twin Paradox, which I read bc Joe Tess had tweeted about it. Makes sense now. I figured they shot each hole all at the same time since they’d have to light it and get all the camera angles set. Too much work to do more than once. They also wouldn’t need the guest stars for more than part of a day. I didn’t think about how Joe and Rob would have to tailor their commentary to account for the previous play, though. And I was totally lost with those new holes! I’ve watched every episode (though I might’ve been reading or playing games at the same time) and couldn’t figure out how I might’ve missed a clown throwing pies in their faces. He seemed a little out of touch with some of the holes especially on the diving. The gag was supposed to be Guttenberg was America’s sweetheart but now he’s (playing) a raging asshole? And they didn’t clue in during editing that the Uranus jokes were tired after the first round? And then they named it #1 hole? I’d really like to know how they picked the golfers. Some were not good or interesting. Mostly, I want them to have another season. I liked how they made big changes between seasons and hope they do it again. CrazyInAlabama September 19, 2020 Share September 19, 2020 (edited) I liked the review of the holes, there were some I totally forgot about. I thought the problems with things like buns and wieners were interesting (it broke down constantly). However, I really wish the dragon with real flames would never be seen again. I liked the list of celebrities that they showed. I loved seeing the hole-in-one recaps. I love how the competitors support and help each other too. I'm not sure this show would work without Joe and Rob together. In part 1 I really enjoyed them talking about the weather, how cold they were, and Rob finagling the producer's coat (he learned a lot about that in the USMC), but Joe didn't. Then when they took a day and a half to enclose the booth, and Joe had to ask to have his heater turned down, that was funny. Rob as the Star Wars emperor with the hood of the parka up was hysterical. Edited September 19, 2020 by CrazyInAlabama 2 Link to comment

I was extremely disappointed in the Tomb of Nefer-tee-tee, considering the hype they built up all season about it. I was expecting something amazing, like an extreme mini golf hole with moving parts and everything. Like an elevator and roller coaster track. At least something where the ball went into the pyramid. Instead, the pyramids were nothing more than obstacles, they might as well have just put a piece of wood on the floor to redirect the balls. And it was complete crap that Tanner (the "White Buffalo"... how is that nickname considered ok in today's age, and what does it even mean?) won. One, he shouldn't have advanced in his earlier show. But he had famous friends like Josh Duhamel and Zac Efron, so had to keep him somehow and magically have the real winner withdraw. Two, he shouldn't have won his round in this finale. His ball didn't even make it past the portapotties. But they decide that he gets to place his ball in the drop zone? Why? They said that the door would hit the ball and the ball would go in the water. Did the doors really go all the way down to the ground? Most portapotties aren't like that. I feel like he should have had to putt from there for his second stroke right away, and then take a run and fall in. So he should have been on his third stroke when the others were on their second. I didn't appreciate the manipulation. I get that he had a great putt to win, but he should never have been there. 1 Link to comment
Swenson September 23, 2020 Share September 23, 2020 First of all.....I get the "uranus" jokes....but uranus is not the ringed planet..... that's Saturn of course....but it isn't funny. Unlike some of you ...i liked Diving Range ...because i understood it was a spoof of a diving competition, having legitmate diver Joey Cefelli be trashed every time and Sir Goph giving everybody a "fore"......get it? Actually, Uranus does have rings. Not as many as Saturn of course, but it does have them. I think the jokes are hysterical, they are never not funny to me. To me it's like farting. Farting is never not funny, no matter how old I get. I thought Diving Range was funny the first time, but it got really old, really fast. The constant sputtering and yelling of Greg Louganis and Steve Guttenberg... not funny. I would have preferred to have seen Clowning Around all season. How come they couldn't use this hole throughout the season? 95% of the reason why I watch this show is to see people falling in the water. Pies in the face are equivalent to falling in the water. The Distractor hole was boring, even if I really liked that actor during his Police Academy days. Portapotty and Polecano are my favourite holes so I was happy to see one of them getting used. The shocking hole, I guess it doesn't have the same impact to me as falling in the water because the shock can't be seen. 4 Link to comment

Make the legit diver win and get to play. He could have done a failed dive like a belly flop and gotten the high score. Something to switch it up. But it was 3 or 4 times the same exact script. Uranus was best for comedy and Polecano/#2 tied for most brutal hits. Double dutch very close 2nd. 3 Link to comment
Swenson September 24, 2020 Share September 24, 2020 (edited) Everybody likes Double Dutch Courage....but most of the players can clear it. They should have to clear both blades on one run to avoid a stroke penalty, and the putt itself is kinda too easy. Polecano just looks likes something that's crazy to try. Fly down a zipline to try to catch a pole? How does a cookie mom for example?.....be able to survive that without getting knocked out? The pole is padded right? Edited September 24, 2020 by Swenson Link to comment
Rickster September 24, 2020 Share September 24, 2020 I like seeing people fall in the water too, but I thought Polecano was just nasty. I like to see some chance of success, but I think only two people made it on Polecano all season, and one was going half speed. Plus it seemed like the zipline was very fast and minimal if any padding on the pole. Not the same as being knocked in the water by the portapotty door or the windmill blade. I cringed when I saw some of the older contestants have to attempt it. 1 Link to comment
