Oh that’s right.  The NY market.....hmmmm...prices in my area are sky high.

News outlets have been reporting that there is a mass exodus going on in NYC and property owners are selling at a lower price because of the high crime rate and astronomical taxes

Correct.  This was what I was alluding to but I'm too afraid to mention anything controversial on forums these days.

They are not censoring us for controversial statements, it's where we make these controversial remarks. It's the getting off topic during a discussion about a certain episode that really disappoints them

Pretty much. And none of this has to do with the media for the show. So let's move on. Thank you!

I think that Meloni buying 3 condos in NYC is a major statement to me. It seems like he is in for the "Long Haul" with the L&O: OC series. So we can probably expect to see him numerous times on SVU in the next couple seasons. Unless he just bought these condos just as a real estate investment.

But the point is, Meloni buying a house has zip to do with the show itself. So let's keep the thread limited to its intended focus. Thanks!

Very much confused here with this news article. It's not about SVU, but another franchise "Law and Order: For The Defense. Has it been cancelled or is this going to be a TV series? This article states it "will not become an NBC series after all", yet in the next sentence it says "it received a straight-to-series order in May."

Anyone else confused?

TVLine also wrote about it here: https://tvline.com/2021/07/15/law-and-order-for-the-defense-cancelled-nbc-spinoff-not-moving-forward/

Still don't really have any details, but it seems like NBC decided to pass before anything actually happened. No pilot had to be reviewed, so they likely were still in pre-production this summer and NBC said no - for some reason. It seems odd given the rest of the article indicates that NBC really wants Thursday night to be all Wolf, all the time, but who knows what happened behind the scenes?

Deadline said in its article that NBC and Wolf are already looking at another L&O show to develop. L&O: For The Defense was given a series order for fall, to air with the other two. But things behind the scenes must have made someone decide the show wasn't going to work, and here we are.

Same happened to Law & Order: Hate Crimes some years back.

I'll believe another new L&O series will make it to air when I see it, at this point.

Hopefully they don't force some For The Defense scripts on OC or SVU the way it seemed some of the SVU plots were repurposed Hate Crimes scripts.

Neither show got as far as scripts as far as I know, so I don't think there is anything to worry about.

Great. (Said in flattest monotone possible.) Hope this arc wraps quickly. I'm ready for something/someone new.

From what I’ve heard he will be in 8 episodes, probably the first 8 of the season, to wrap up the arc. I agree about being ready for new material, I’m sick of the supervillain Wheatley storyline and a lot of it just doesn’t make sense. I hope the show improves in season 2.

I am confused. I thought I read somewhere, that he was suppose to be a regular, but now he is now a reoccurring character. Is he going to be a bad guy that turns good or something?

I think he’ll be a regular just for the first 8 episodes to wrap up his arc, and no there’s no way supervillain Wheatley will ever turn good, we’ve seen him commit multiple murders plus he’s involved in the murder of Stabler’s wife.

My great-nephew just reminded of two examples where a very bad guy turning into a good guy. Darth Vader and Kylo Ren.

TVLine Items: This Is Us Vet to L&O: OC

Law & Order: Organized Crime is putting a face to a name it dropped in the Season 1 finale: Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us) will recur as Congressman Leon Kilbride during Season 2 of the NBC drama, Give Me My Remote reports. The character, who was mentioned by Nick Creegan’s Richie in prison, is described as a “born politician who fosters connections and always plays his cards right.”

Additionally, Vinnie Jones (Arrow, Galavant) will appear in multiple episodes as Albi Briscu, a Eastern European gangster “who is the last remaining member of the organization from the old country.”

Law & Order: Organized Crime returns Thursday, Sept. 23 at 10/9c.

Maybe they will add some "Order" scenes to bring the franchise back to its roots as the "Law" shifts to another target. When I first heard the news I flashed back to Wiseguy where a ghost made a one time appearance as their agent moved on to his next assignment

In other (non-soap opera) news: I know DVD is on the decline, but considering every other L&O show has made it to DVD, and SVU is still being released on the format (albeit downgraded to MOD), I'm rather surprised that OC never had an announcement for S1 coming to DVD, even via MOD.

I mean without context, it looks like the silly photos they would take back when they worked together 15 years ago. I wouldn’t get too worked up about any Benson/Stabler sex scenes yet. This is just how Mariska and Meloni play when they are at work (for some reason).

Most of the comments are against "EO" with a couple rooting for it.  One poster opines that The Letter is actually written by Kathy!  If there is a love letter from "E" to "O" then perhaps L&O's LE should take another look at Kathy's murder.  All the angst, anger and crying from Elliot may have been just a cover!!

What the hell is this, a Harlequin novel?!?!

It is the season opener, so what are the writers and producers going to make more important, the "letter" or the abrupt departures of Garland and Tamin?

Why? Why? Why?

Just deport Stabler back into SVU so he and Liv can be lovey-dovey till the end of time. Then hire a new badass detective for OC so we can focus on fighting crime. Please! 🙄

It seems that many think that the so called romance will kill the chemistry of the show and that the premise will follow the same as "The Mysteries of Laura". Another over hyped mistake made by NBC.

Yeah, in the future, SVU show videos belong in the SVU forum, any Stabler crumbs notwithstanding. Please, in the future, if the video is strictly labeled for whatever show, put it in its proper forum. Thanks! ETA: I have moved the SVU video to where it belongs.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but as a Stabler fan, the episodes and diagloge around his family during his SVU years to me were the worst. His family issues always slowed the show down. The original L&O was the best -- focused primarily on the case at hand.

As much as I like Stabler (face it, Chris Meloni), I still have a tough time with his personal life being a part of Organized Crime. So, hearing now that his mom will be back is really bumming me out. Between that, his 25 kids and one dead wife, I just want him to focus on interesting cases.

I'm also not into the seasonal arcs. Maybe I have an attention span of a toddler, but I like the one and done episodes.

I'm done complaining for now I'll show myself out.

Anyone directing hatred AT Isabel, or tagging her in their Kathy hate, is nuts. That's completely uncalled for and it happens way too often. That said, some of her post struck me as a little much (I thought the Mean Girls thing she put in there was funny, to be honest). People are allowed to dislike Kathy and to express that. I frequently very much dislike characters and it has nothing to do with the actor (although I never tag that actor on social media and in something like Twitter, often won't even name them). Do I personally think in this case, the hatred for Kathy is a bit much? Yes. I think they painted a target on that poor woman's back with the silly letter twist, and apparently they didn't warn her what was going to happen, lol. But I know I've disliked characters on other shows for probably even stupider reasons. I think part of the issue here is that she doesn't really seem to be a full time actress anymore, and so she wasn't expecting what goes on in social media. In general, I think fans are at perfect liberty to detest a character for whatever reason and actors who take that personally are going to have a difficult time on social media, but in this case, I have somewhat more sympathy because I think she's NOT really working as an actress full time anymore and, as she said in the blog, she mostly did this to have fun with her old pals one more time.

I don't think ANY actor deserves such idiocy and vitriol from fans.

Hate a character all anyone likes, but an actor is NOT the character, and attacking the actor is RIDICULOUS. The internet is great in some ways, but it has also destroyed boundaries, rationality, and general decency.

Those who cannot separate reality from fantasy need to take many steps back.

I agree, but some of what she quoted was clearly specifically about Kathy, not her as an actress or a person.

From TVLine's "Matt's Inside Line":

When can we expect Dylan McDermott’s Richard Wheatley to return to Law & Order: Organized Crime? –Emily
Well, this much we know: Angela Wheatley, played by Bones alum Tamara Taylor, will feature “heavily” in the middle pod of Season 2 episodes, which will, once again, focus on Richard Wheatley.

SVU's Peter Scanavino Tees Up 'Fast Moving' Organized Crime Crossover, Indulges Our 'Rollisi' Obsession

Law & Order fans are getting quite the early Christmas present this year: a meaty SVU/Organized Crime crossover focused on everyones favorite lump-of-coal-in-human-form, Richard Wheatley.

The SVU portion of the event, which airs on NBC Thursday at 9/8c, will find Peter Scanavino‘s assistant district attorney Sonny Carisi trying Wheatley for the murder of Det. Stabler’s wife, Kathy. Complicating matters: Wheatley’s lawyer, Rafael Barba — played by a returning Raúl Esparza —, is Carisi’s mentor and a Friend Of SVU… at least, he is before the trial starts. (The Organized Crime hour that follows at 10 is titled “The Christmas Episode.”)

So of course we got Scanavino on the phone to game out the trial. Plus, because we hadn’t talked to him in a while, we definitely chatted about all things Rollins and Carisi, from that monumental kiss at Fin and Phoebe’s wedding to how the fledgling couple might handle some curveballs ahead. Read on to hear Scanavino’s thoughts on the crossover, how he learned ‘Rollisi’ was getting rolling and whether Sonny will be part of the upcoming Law & Order revival. (Oh — and because we talked about some stuff that we can’t reveal until after the episodes have aired, there are parts of the conversation we’re holding back. Make sure to visit TVLine Thursday evening for the rest of the goods.)

TVLINE | Talk to me about how Carisi’s feeling as he goes into this gigantic trial against his former colleague.
It’s a big deal, you know what I mean? It’s a lot of responsibility. He’s also co-chairing with [Bureau Chief Phillip] Baptiste, who’s from the Homicide Department, so, he’s got his superior overseeing him and giving some pretty tough odds during the case. But then it’s against Barba, as well, and that’s always fun. [Carisi has] always got something to prove in front of his former mentor, but it really seems like one of those cases where there’s a lot of moving parts, and is Carisi up to deal with all those moving parts? [Laughs] It’s a fast-moving case. Sometimes, things drop out, and then it’s a challenge for him, for sure, and I don’t think he’s taking it lightly.

TVLINE | Stabler figures heavily in these episodes. On a related note, Carisi is close to Liv, they’re good friends.
Right.

TVLINE | And here comes this man, who has blown up her life in several different ways, right? I’m wondering if there’s any tension there between Carisi and Stabler, on Liv’s behalf.
Well, God, you know, I never knew them together. And I don’t know how open she’s been with me about her history. It’s kind of one of those things, maybe, not let sleeping dogs lie, but you know, the past is the past. But I do think I see, and my character can see, how, in some ways, this might not be the healthiest relationship right now, given what my job is. I think he knows and respects Stabler, obviously, but he’s definitely more protective of Liv because she’s closer to him, she’s more formative in who he was. So, from somebody that’s close with her saying, “Who is this guy? Is this good for her? Is this not?” I think that’s how he’s viewing it.

LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME Scoop: Robin Lord Taylor to Recur

LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME’s next arc is adding another TV favorite to the mix: Robin Lord Taylor has joined the series in a recurring capacity, Give Me My Remote has learned.

Taylor will play Sebastian McClane, AKA Constantine, a notorious hacker, who is one of several high-security convicts on the run after a prison break. To try and track him down, Bell’s (Danielle Moné Truitt) task force—including OCCB hacker Jet (Ainsley Seiger)—is brought in.

And with Richard (Dylan McDermott) now no longer facing charges for the death of Kathy Stabler, Constantine will be “featured heavily” in the upcoming arc and “going to interact inextricably with Wheatley,” ORGANIZED CRIME showrunner Ilene Chaiken shares.
