I think they want the viewers to see it as an aftereffect of Sharon being drugged and kidnapped multiple times. Both she and Phyllis have PTSD but Sharon mistakenly believes she's cured herself.

Especially since the 2025 versions will either be weaker than the original ones, or they'll be a lot more expensive. Jabot likely has a niche set of longtime customers who'll buy the retro stuff but they probably won't buy it more than once.

I think the writers may have taken the classic perfume, Chanel No. 5, as inspiration. Some of the chemicals used in the OG scent aren't available anymore. Or they're illegal.

This post is everything! Sharon Case is getting kind of hard to look at and listen to. Same for Michelle Stafford, though. Both need to go to a meditation center or a psychiatrist together and work on their recurring/never going away issues. They would be off our screens for awhile. 

And yes, One Tough Cookie....a cup of tea at any time makes the day a little better.

I think Michelle looks fantastic honestly, I'd love to look that incredible in my 50's, Sharon is looking rough and she's (Sharon Case) is a favourite of mine so I hate this for her. I also understand the stress on older actresses and can only imagine how much that double, triples, quadruples when the TIIC decide to use high definition to highlight your every flaw. 

Also I love seeing Amanda back! She's literally the only Black Woman on canvas and MM is Canadian like me as well and a fantastic actress with a lot of chemistry so I am psyched to see her. I only pray she's not back to be killed off. JG has killed off 3 non-white characters already (2 off camera), to say I don't trust him is an understatement.

I feel like something might be going on with her. I was never a fan of Sharon until MG came on as Adam. I used to hate Sharon and Nick together, still don't like them together and I was Team Phyllis during the affair but I always recognized Sharon Case as an absolutely incredible actress. I'm not sure what's going on lately but she's been uncharacteristically bad the last few months. She has done some incredible work on this show and has been able to make me feel empathy for her even when I didn't even like the character. I'm not sure what's happening now it's very strange. I hope she's alright.

I really believe JG can't write women for shit. All the behaviour I've witnessed from the women on this show is so uncharacteristic of all of them and feels like it was dragged from 1932. You're right Phyllis would never beg Victor, I didn't even know he did all that awful stuff to her, that's despicable writing. Plus Victor looks like he's ready to collapse any minute, it's crazy to me that they're writing him as this strong, viral business man. It's pretty delusional.

I too feel like something might be going on with her. I am starting to feel uncomfortable watching her. She was acting odd for months before we found out her 'bipolar' drugs had been messed with, but never was back to 100% after that and is still acting and looking a bit odd, but not in exactly the same way.  Such as not really focusing on anything when talking to people and smiling & squinting when the words or situation don't warrant it.  I was talking about this a couple of days ago and then had a dream about Julie Christie's behaviour in the movie "Away From Her", about a woman in the early stages of dementia (Julie Christie has autobiographic amnesia in real life). The fact that I remembered scenes from that 2006 movie so vividly and equated it with Sharon in a dream was unsettling. It makes me wonder if Sharon Case has a condition that they are going to incorporate into a storyline for Sharon Collins Newman Abbott Newman Newman McAvoy Rosales.  I hope she's OK.

I'm gonna guess "only Black Woman on canvas" is referring to skin tone because there's also Lily and Amy. (However, IRL CK considers herself multiracial/multiethnic, not Black.)

OMG, I'd be beyond stunned if they killed off Amanda. Y&R is already looking bad compared to Beyond the Gates due to the relatively poor way they're still handling Black characters. Having Amanda die would definitely not help. (And showing Neil's photo and mentioning his old history at every random opportunity ain't enough either, JG.)

IMO it'll be telling which legacy Newman or Abbott characters Amanda interacts with and which ones she doesn't.

Replying/adding to my above post. The question that Js Nana posted: who would take his place as a main character? No actor/actress that is currently employed on this soap. Show has done quite the job of destroying any new male character that has turned up in the last 10 years or so. They appear, seem to have great backstory, good actors, get viewers interested/invested. Then they disappear and I have to wonder why. Adam could have been that "character" but he has been neutered too much to come back.

I remember reading an interview with MS over ten years ago where she said she's always hungry and that is how she can look the way she does (not eating). I think about that every time she shows up in a tight dress—which is basically every time she's on screen—and it makes me a little sad.

I've been watching for decades and in my recollection her acting oddness mainly started when she began getting noticeable work done to her face, the cheek and forehead fillers in particular. The fillers seem to affect her ability to make a variety of facial expressions which would match better both what she's saying and the emotion being expressed. I think TPTB have tried to help by writing Sharon as kind of loopy, and now having Phyllis act even loopier by comparison.

Frankly, I don't think SC is the only actor on Y&R with this issue but for some reason hers is the most glaring. IMO it's problematic to suggest SC herself has some kind mental trouble based on the way her character behaves.

I think the current Audra storyline is especially grievous. 

What a sick, dirty old man to essentially pay a much younger, attractive woman to sleep with his granddaughter’s boyfriend. And he is 1. the father of whom he supposedly considers his “grandson” though I am sus and 2.  He is alive because of the heart of the guy’s cousin beating in his chest that his family so graciously donated to him. 

And Audra. She has a rich boyfriend and lots of corporate experience. Why on earth treat her like some desperate drug addict living in a seedy motel trying to get her kids back so she will do anything out of desperation? 

This storyline is absolutely demeaning and gross. Audra should have responded with “Fuck you!” 

Victor is not a great soap villain or patriarch, as they keep trying to gaslight us into believing. He is a vile, creepy, evil, sick old man. His “love” for his family is gross. Have some dignity, EB, and refuse these storylines.

Yeah, the way he looks down on Audra is gross.  And this prostitute offer he made to her is even more gross.  But the worst of it is coming from the writers -- that Audra casually accepts this deal, cuz she thinks she can "handle" Vic, while lying to her boyfriend?  Ugh.

Audra is a confident, smart & capable woman -- NOT a lunatic, as too many of the GC women are (and unfortunately written that way).  So why would she accept a deal to prostitute herself to get an investment to start a business?  If she's so confident about starting something innovative in the beauty industry, wouldn't she be able to attract investors in a legitimate way?  Or do these writers believe NO women are capable of this -- that is, unless they prostitute themselves to rich men?  Yech.
