  1. Geez, this show has gotten more batshit crazy that ever. The best scene was after Eli shot Sandra to "liberate" himself and he launched into one of his classic Shakespearean soliloquies about his power only to have shady short haircut guy and his vicious henchwoman tell him "Whatever Eli and. oh, by the way we'll kill Liv if you don't do our bidding". Seeing Eli get throttled that way was satisfying. So let's see if the all powerful "Control" can work his way out this one and protect Liv. Arrogant guy and nasty girl may have a few 9mm slugs in their future.
  2. Well her real name is Natasha, after all :-) Salt is one of my favorite movies with a knockout performance by Angelina Jolie but I can't quite see Mrs. Kirkman with a similar history.
  3. ++, I was thinking "damn! Mrs. McLeish makes Lady Macbeth look like a benevolent soul. At least she offed herself as well as the Veep. I thought that they were with a ultra right wing group but given McLeish's speaking of his need to avenge the betrayal of the troops, I'm not sure anymore. Maybe a military coup is at work here? It would have to cut across all of the services and include high ranking current and former officers a la Seven Days in May. Let's see what they do with this next week.
  4. I like this show as much as anyone but have been annoyed at the increasing time devoted to the Jack/Rebecca back story at the expense of the current characters. I'm not sure what the writers were thinking about when the entire season finale was almost exclusively about J/R with only a few minutes about the siblings and even that was part a flashback. Hopefully, next season, Jack's death will be covered early so that the show can focus on the living.
  5. Heather Morris was a professional dancer before she was on Glee (where she did a lot of dancing). Early in her career she didn't get past the Vegas round on SYTYCD but went on to be a backup dancer on one of Beyonce's world tours. She also toured with Beyonce when she was publicizing Put a Ring on It. It seems to me that she would be an immediate favorite to make the finals
  6. I thought that Chloe was doing pretty well since leaving DM. She's been in couple of movies (Center Stage On Pointe in particular) and done some other stuff so why in God's name would she and Christi want to have anything to do with Abby at this point? Maybe they are banking on (or have inside info) that there's a real possibility that ALM won't be around for another season (although I have no doubt that if her legal situation looks very bad, a plea deal will be arranged and that she might avoid prison time). If ALM is not around where would that leave the show? Why would Lifetime even consider renewing in that circumstance?
  7. The group dance was a hot mess but Brynn and Kalani did everything they could to make something of it. Kalani is becoming a much better actress and is using her facial expressions more and more to sell the routine. Now that SYTYCD is being renewed and going back to a more traditional format, maybe by the time Kalani turns 18 the show will still be around. She's got the potential to be a great dancer but still needs more intensive training in order to get there. I'd love to see what someone like Debbie Allen could do with her.
  8. And if you recall, Katee had not made the show on her first try. On her second try it came down to her and her closest friend and she said that if she didn't make it this time she might quit dancing. When she was chosen, I can still remember Nigel reaming her up and down for considering quitting after a disappointment. It's a good thing that she made it because her dancing in that magical season was brilliant week after week. She and Joshua were, to me, the best couple in the show's history and Katee's "door dance" with Twitch and her Pas de Deux with Will were also stellar. I still watch clips from that season on YouTube. Other favorites included Chelsea and Mark's "Bleeding Love", Courtney and Gev's Cha-Cha and Rhumba and the group dance to Neo's "closer" but there were plenty of others. Like I said that season was pure magic.
  9. I was so glad to read about the renewal and the format change after the last two disastrous seasons. I would have been just as happy if the show went back to the format of the first block of seasons when it was only the contestants dancing with no All-Stars. I still feel that Seasons 1 through 6 were the glory days of SYTYCD with Season 4 (with Joshua, Katee, Twitch, Courtney, Chelsie, Mark, among others) being my favorite. That's probably because, to this day, I think that Katee Shean may be the best all around dancer in the show's history.
  10. When you have a PhD, I guess you can act that way even if your doctorate is now useless because, after your tenure on this shit show and your turning a blind eye to what is clearly child abuse of even your own daughter, no educational institution in its right mind would hire you.
  11. Just got a chance to look at all of these video clip. Good for Kalani, Nia and Chloe. Kalani is gorgeous in the Capezio shoot. She is the total package and on DM has shown wisdom and maturity well beyond her years. Nia may not be the world's greatest dancer but she is a performer with some real natural stage presence. Chloe has gotten to show what she was capable of once she got out of the clutches of the ALDC and that sleazy exploiter of a production company Collins Avenue.
  12. I liked the opener. All I gots to say is Damn, Connie Britton looked good in that sleeveless T-shirt, baseball cap and those aviator sunglasses. The woman is ageless.
  13. Wow, I didn't realize seeing that it was Barbara Bain. I guess I will always think of her as the beautiful Cinnamon Carter on Mission Impossible. That scene between her and Rob Lowe was stunning. I have to admit that I was a bit verklempt watching it. Even though the technical medical scenes are overhyped at times I really enjoy this show. Ultimately it always comes down to the characters and they hold your interest. Marcia Gay Hardin is a great actress and she looks amazing on this show. Luis Guzman is a huge plus on any show that he's on and the entire ensemble had been very good.
  14. Well at least we know that the conspiracy is more likely driven by internal players rather than foreign ones. It sounds like an uber-right wing group or a corporate cartel (or both) who did not like the direction that the country was going in but killing the entire federal government officialdom seems a tad on the extreme side. Mrs. McLeish is Raymond's mother incarnate from The Manchurian Candidate but nowhere near as scary as the great Angela Lansbury. I would not be shocked of Aaron is in on the conspiracy. There is something shady about him and he did sucker punch Kirkman when he released that video to force him to act.
  15. *cough*Because he had to*cough* Not hardly. FYI, Morrison was part of of the cast that work shopped Neverland two years before it hit Broadway. By all accounts, when he freed up, Harvey Weinstein was thrilled to get him for the Broadway run. Morrison also did many concerts and other performances even while Glee was running.
  16. "As for next live musical....while Damn Yankees would be great for Dove, I'm kinda hoping they do Wicked. dove would make a great Glinda and as who should play Elpheba, I'm thinking Lea Michelle. She's wasting her time on Scream Queens." Wicked would be nice but since it looks likes its Broadway run may not end for a long time, we'll probably not see it on broadcast TV for many years. I get the feeling that Lea is never going back to the musical stage. I'm sure that a producer would love to construct a show for her but pounding the boards 7 to 8 shows a week is a very tough grind and it's been a bunch of years since Lea was in Spring Awakening. On the other hand, you have to give Matthew Morrison major props for jumping right back to Broadway in Finding Neverland when Glee ended. It was so nice to see him return to his roots. Darren Criss as well went to Broadway doing a turn in How to Succeed in Business and then starring in Hedwig and the Angry Inch as it closed its run. I saw Hedwig in San Francisco and Darren was first rate in the lead.
  17. Overall a nice production but the movie version was considerably better. Maddie was very good but she did drop a verse in the the opener and during You Can't Stop the Beat, you could tell that she was having some difficulties controlling her breathing. The former was probably and understandably nerves and the latter can be improved with ongoing training which I'm sure she'll get. Derek was perfect as Corny. The man is a true triple threat. What can you say about Harvey? The show is his baby and his Edna was great. Martin Short was very good as well. Jhud blew the doors off in her big numbers. I love Ariana Grande but she just didn't seem right for Penny. She has comedic chops but after seeing Amanda Bynes in the film, Ariana pales in comparison. The actor playing Link was OK but that's about it. Kristen was a bit more subdued than I would have expected. The sets, colors and Jerry Mitchell's choreography were spot on. There were times, however, when the production seemed to drag and I found myself briefly losing interest. The show really would have benefited from the live audience being there throughout. Some of the gag lines fell flat because they need audience reaction to work. Darren Criss and the all of the cutaways were distracting at best. One thing that really irked me had nothing to do with the show itself. We had the audio coming through our Denon AVR. It was a Dolby Digital + 5.1 sound track that was very good but many of the commercials were excessively loud which had me grabbing the receiver's remote to turn its volume down.
  18. Add Anna Devere Smith to the wonderful collection of great old pros in the cast. She is a terrific actress who is always a plus when she appears on a show.
  19. It's funny how in the commercials and tonight's show, her looks are played down a bit. If you look at her pictures on IMDB, all you can say is Wow! She is one great looking woman.
  20. A very good episode. Yay for Milana Vayntrub, the AT&T girl as Sloan. You knew that she and Kevin were going there. Kudos to Toby for having the guts to cut the cord with Kate. Had to be done. The actor who played the younger William was a natural fit. Maybe it was Comcast tonight but the show looked softly focused and had a sedate color palette. It looked that on my plasma and LCD TVs.
  21. I love this show. The buildup of tension is very skillfully written and acted. Watching the operation with Clare completely unravel was so well done and when it was revealed it blew up partly because some agency (maybe Langley?) was running its own rendition operation without telling Berlin Station was stunning. It's weird seeing Richard Armitage in this after watching him as my avatar in the Hobbit movies. He has been very good as have the always reliable top pros, Richard Jenkins, Rhys Ifans and Leland Orser. I suspect that as Daniel gets deeper into the black site that Julian escaped, er, was released from, the conspiracy is going to take on darker and wilder dimensions. Can't wait for tonight's show to see the aftermath of the blown op.
  22. Couldn't agree more. It's critical if you have ANY family history of colon cancer. It is hereditary.
  23. I loved the scene between William and Olivia. William's gentle lecture to her about how things get beyond our reach was beautifully written and Ron Cephas Jones' delivery was perfect.
  24. They did say that Erin had her own recital that day so she couldn't attend. I thought that Kalani finally got to show more of her true abilities in her solo. She really has become the true "dance mom" to the other girls on the elite team. She's selfless, a morale booster and a shoulder to lean on. She's more mature than all of the "adults" combined. She's a very impressive young lady.
