  1. The two shows last night could have been listed as double bill horror movie ticket. They were that bad.
  2. The most recent articles (as late as today) have ALM admitting that the "engagement" was a hoax.
  3. For me Bergeron and Deeley lap the rest of the field handily.
  4. NIce choices. One more female pro and they've got an excellent dance team. Has it been confirmed that Meryl and Maks and Charlie and Sharna are actually going to dance on the floor? It doesn't seem to be precisely stated in the PR for the show. You would think that if Meryl and Maks don't dance, the audience will be very disappointed. If any of you have not been following the message board on the network's DWTS forum, there's been an air of unreality and almost desparation about Meryl and Maks as "a couple". It's gotten to the point where people are analyzing songs that Meryl likes and assuming that she's not happy because she and Maks are not together. I concluded that whatever Meryl and Maks had, it was geniune but that it was "in the moment" for the run of season 18. Beyond that, I think not.
  5. In regard to Maks (or any of the Pro dancers wanting the MBT), to quote the great Hermann Edwards during his tenure as the New York Jets head coach "You play to win the game!" Nuff said.
  6. Unbelievable episode. The speed with which Malvo dispatched Stephen Root and company in the elevator was Johnny Ringo like. Three down and out in how many seconds? If BBT and Martin Freeman don't get Emmy nominations for this show there ought to be an investigstion. Freeman's transformation of Lester from doormat to killer, coniver and accesory to murder has been outstanding and BBT could convince you that Malvo really is the devil incarnate. Hopefully both will get their just due next week but even if they do, I suspect that the collateral damage body count is going to be fierce.
  7. Oh Maks, Meryl is a major step up from JLo in terms of genuineness and class. It seems to me that if he gets involved with Ms. Lopez, it will be a replay of his time with Karina. That went real well!
  8. I've always thought that Tanith was one of the most beautiful women to ever lace up a pair of skates and remains so today. Good on You Charlie!
  9. I watched Gaga's Madison Square Garden show on HBO and Mark was just teriffic. His quirky dance style was perfect for what Gaga was doing during that tour.
  10. The nice thing is that no matter what your favorites are, a search of Youtube will almost always find them individually or as part of compilations that people have put together. I still rewatch many of the numbers that I've enjoyed throughout the show's history.
  11. Anything that Katee did. Any of Melanie and Marko's routines Rama lama bang bang (love Wade Robson) Neil and Lacy's Time Melissa and Ade doing Tice's tribute to his friend with breast cancer Lacy and Danny's Samba (some of the best side by side hip actions ever) Benji and Heidi's black mambo Kayla (IMHO that season's best dancer) and Kupono's Addiction and a hundred more that I could list. The quality of the dancers and choreography on SYTYCD has always been first rate. In regard to Kayla, I can still vividly recall Kupono and her reprising Addiction on the season finale (after she had been eliminated) and when it was over, them standing there and getting a thunderous, prolonged standing ovation from the audience and the judges. There was a great camera shot from behind them out to the theater that showed the reaction. It was a striking testament to the the two of them, to MIa and the piece itself but I always felt that it was also an appreciation for Kayla's body of work that season.
  12. Absolutely, along with "I let you come inside of me". Major props go to Kate Walsh for being one of the real acting gems of this season and getting to recite two of the funniest and raunchiest lines outside of programming on HBO/Showtime/ Starz that you will hear on cable. Major props also to FX for not watering down the dialogue.
  13. You have to wonder if Lester, having gotten away with a lot of shit, has developed a king sized case of hubris and whether, based on the tease of upcoming events, it's gonna his ass killed. Why would he even want to make any contact with Malvo (unless it's the other way around). Any sane person would bundle up the wife and get the hell out of Dodge on the first available flight.
  14. Thanks for the clip Mason. Never heard of the movie but it's a nice gig for Katee. Good to see her doing well.
  15. There are, of course, all of the SYTYCD alums who have been on DWTS. This year is it was Artem, Whitney, Jenna, Lindsey and Maleece (in one number). In the past, they've had Lacy, Chelsea, Dimitri and probably others that I'm forgetting as well as some alums choreographing some of the pro numbers. The person who seems to be a mystery is Katee. I'm sure that others won't agree but I've always felt that she was the best all around dancer in SYTYCD's history. She danced brilliantly and could really sell a number emotionally. Her partnership wih Joshua was gold but her dances with Twitch (the famous "door" number) and others were also outstanding. You just don't hear much about her these days.
  16. It pretty funny when you see all of the efforts to "skate around" the relationship questions and then you see this picture and the questions and speculation begin all over again. You have to admit though that they have the look of a couple in this shot. Meryl and Charlie's deflecting the question to Maks and Charlie is pretty inventive.
  17. One thing that I would have liked to see this season was more focus on the band's new singers. Except for the one guy who sang Hound Dog when M&M did their Jive, they were never introduced by name. That was a shame since they did a fine job. One thing that puzzled me was who exactly was singing "Latch" during M&M's freestyle. The show has used original recordings at times but the vocal on Latch didn't really sound like Sam Smith's original cut, even edited down. The pronounciation of certain words (especially "enchant") was very different from his. If it was one of the band's singers doing the number, does anyone know who it was? It was a terrific renditon that I liked more than the original. I now have Latch and Close to You on my playlist and they immediately bring M&M's dances to mind.
  18. They do get it right on occasion. When Meryl and Maks did their Tango in week 6, Close to You by Calvin Harris really worked. When the song kicked into its heavy beat, it suited the Tango very well.
  19. Because I don't follow Olympic sports in the off years I wasn't aware of that blogger. Geez, her vitriol towards Meryl is scarily pathological. I did, with great amusement, notice that that there were no screeds for May 19th and 20th. She must have been in mourning after Meryl's win!
  20. Great minds think alike. When it was announced that the father was going to do "the bottle dance" I thought Ok this is going to be unique when he comes out and does the dance from Fiddler on the Roof. Alas all we got was some schlub humping a water bottle placed on the floor.
  21. I have watched Meryl and Maks brilliant contemporary freestyle more times than I can count. On some repeat viewings, there are new little things that are discovered. For instance, at the end, when they almost kiss and then hug Meryl is gently stroking the back of Maks' neck. That can't be planned or rehearsed. It's these very tiny moments that make a lot of us wish that the two of them would give it a shot after the show. If not and they go their separate ways, so be it but they will always be remembered as having the best "romantic" chemistry that DWTS has ever seen. I never really thought of Meryl as particularly pretty and in some of the packages her eyes are very narrow but, when the makeup artists on the show got it right (which was almost always), especially with eye makeup, that girl looked downright amazing. Of course the same can be said of Cheryl and some of the other pro women. DWTSs makeup team is as good as it gets.
  22. The whole contract situation is a mystery. Let's say that one of the familes decided to break the contract based on a pattern of abusive behavior by Abby and, indirectly by the production company. If what we see every week is "real", no state or judicial authority could conclude anything but the fact that there is an unacceptable level of child abuse taking place. OTOH, if everything is staged, nobody would have any reason to break the contract or to reveal that the show is a complete fraud. If and when Kelly's law suit gets to court, there could be a lot of dirty laundry made public. If the criminal charges against Kelly are dropped (probably will be when the hand of the producers in that situation is exposed), I suspect that the production company and the network will make a very generous settlement offer to Kelly which includes very tight disclosure restrictions.
  23. Completely agree with this and Katee (best SYTYCD dancer ever, IMHO) and Joshua had a lot of "best routines" during that incredible season. Thanks Bella for posting Meryl and Charlie's Bollywood routine. Great stuff!
