  1. One thing that I wonder about is why anyone agrees to speak to Wiley, or Kalinda for that matter. Why not say "show me a court order or get the hell out of my office" Are possible suspects that cooperative with PIs in real life? In regard to the episode itself it was just more blah, blah St. Alicia, blah, blah Sleazy reporter, blah, blah, Eli acting like an asshole, blah, blah. The part that I enjoyed was Diane's involvement with the the anti-LGBT rich conservatives, both her Q andAs with them and the mock court (nice to see Richard Mazur as the judge). It was current, relevant and very well done in regard to both viewpoints. Oliver Platt and Christine Baranski are both strong actors and they play off one another well.
  2. Watching Connie's scenes with Charles last night was like sitting in on a master class in acting. They were absolutely gut wrenching and Connie was brilliant. I've always loved her as an actress. Friday Night Lights added to that and last night was yet another reminder of her ability to be totally real and truthful onscreen.
  3. That picture with Kalani is something. She is young beautiful young lady.
  4. Not hardly. Many of the SYTYCD contestants go on to be working professional dancers and quite a few have also become choreographers. The show is a well known gateway to a career in dance.
  5. If you had a drinking game for every mention of Maddie, you would have been blitzed before the first 15 minutes had gone by. It's all so very sad. This artificial bubble of "stardom" and entitlement that has surrounded Maddie is going to get punctured at some point and then where will this kid be? She will probably not be a "star" and if she wants to be a professional dancer, it's going to take more than the kind of training that she's getting now. Think about some of the younger contestants on So You Think You Can Dance. Does anyone see Maddie being as good and well trained as any of them? Does she and her horror show mother really understand how difficult a dancer's life is and how often rejection occurs? Perhaps Melissa thinks that professional jobs are just going to be thrown at Maddie's feet. Not likely, especially once the sheen of DM wears off. Who knows, but some choreographers might shy away precisely because of the DM exposure.
  6. Just another typical "Maddie is the bestest in the whole wide world and the rest of you suck without her here to secure the win" episode. JoJo is a much better dancer than Mckenzie will ever be and her showmanship is light years better . JoJo's mother was right when she said that Mac's tricks don't cut it anymore and that at some point you have to be able to dance. Those CADC moms were hideous. One of them looked like a walking lawsuit against a plastic surgeon for whom "incompetent" would be a compliment. God lord, what do these women see when they look in a mirror?
  7. Just a great season finale but it was painful to see Miranda's corpse being desecrated by the local yokels. If Flint had an ounce of feeling for "innocent civilians" I suspect that it went out the window as he witnessed that and his rage increased. The shelling of Charles Town was epic and the Dolby 5.1 audio track was as well. My surround speakers were just singing with each volley of canon fire.
  8. Wow! That kid, as they would say on SYTYCD, really hits it hard. She's terrific.
  9. If I was Alicia, I'd be trying to figure out a way to get rid of Geneva as soon as possible even if the optics look bad. Her actions and behavior as an ASA have been, at the very least, questionable and at worst malicious. Is there any doubt that she had it in for Cary after he was advanced in the SA's office ahead of her. She had to know that the case against him was a crock but seemed a bit too zealous in prosecuting it. The SA's office seems to be populated with lawyers who use their power to wage personal vendettas (remember Wendy Scott-Carr) right up to the departing SA James Castro. If she's smart, Alicia will put an end to this practice and try to run a clean shop.
  10. There's been a lot of speculation about Lea playing Elphaba when the film version of Wicked is cast. At first, I didn't think she would be right because she's pretty tiny. After listening to her solo version of Defying Gravity, my feeling is that she can definitely do it. She's got the vocal chops for it and good camera work can solve any perceived physical stature issues.
  11. This kind of writing has been one of the great strengths of Black Sails. When a back story is revealed in part or in whole, not only is it surprising but it makes absolute sense in the context of what is happening currently. I have seen few, if any, continuity errors this season.
  12. I hadn't really browsed through this thread and have found it very interesting and informative. I'll say up front that I think that Lea Michele has got one of the best voices of her generation and her solo's have almost always been major highlights of various Glee episodes. It's unfortunate that quite a few of them get edited when they air, at times very poorly which is pretty shocking for a major sound engineered show. Some may disagree but, to me, Lea's definitive performance was "Being Good Isn't Good Enough" even with one whole verse edited out. Everything about it was world class. Her dress, makeup, stage presence and a spectacular vocal made it one of the songs/video clips that I watch over and over. The studio recording of the complete song is stunning. There was another song that she did which, unfortunately, was butchered by the editors as well. It was Joni Mitchell's "River", one of the most beautiful numbers in her distinguished songbook. It was just Lea alone "onstage" singing with her stage training on display. It was marred by a not very seamless sound edit but that didn't take away from the beautiful simplicity of the performance.
  13. Very sorry to see Miranda buy the farm, especially in the way that she did but then again, Rhett made it very clear from the outset that he would use any excuse to put a bullet in Flint and/or Miranda and I doubt that it was entirely so in order to protect Ashe. Rhett appeared to have deep seated hatred of all things Nassau and pirate. Flint will, no doubt, rain retribution on his sorry ass. I've thought all along that Charles Vane is no fool, nor is he naive. He has shown flashes of a more sophisticated thought process at times and did so last night when he added things up. He and Flint will now most likely be bound by "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" concept, at least for awhile. The show, as it usually does, left open so many possibilities that it's hard to believe that next week is the season finale. That should be fascinating.
  14. I was pleasantly surprised that they pulled it off last night. 2009 was nicely done although it did have a reminder of how little Jenna Ushkowitz was actually featured throughout the six seasons. Here's a flash Ryan. Jenna has a great freaking voice and should have had far more prominent solos than she did. Whenever she actually got to sing out front she nailed it. I laughed out loud at the Tony nominees: Maggie Smith in Miss Jean Brodie's Second Prime. From the show's Playbill: "Always known for her great singing voice, Miss Smith, despite being 105 years old hauls her crinkly old ass out on stage for eight shows a week! When asked how she does it, Dame Maggie replied :"if that old bag Lansbury can do it, by God, so can I". Willow Smith in Cabaret (could happen in some demented world I guess). Anne Hathaway in her one woman show Anne! Pretty funny dig at Hathaway's reputation. And finally Rachel Berry in Jane Austin SIngs. I'd pay at least $5.00 to see that one with such an exciting story line.
  15. Diane and Kurt may be adults but they sure regressed to hormone crazed teenagers in the car didn't they? Hell it was some of the best "feeling each other up" acting that I've seen and just laugh out loud funny. And once again we have the specter of Louis Canning possibly exaggerating the severity of his medical conditions to play Alicia. I still wonder about why Michael J. Fox, a passionate advocate for those suffering from Parkinson's and other neuromuscular diseases allows himself to play Canning, who routinely plays up his medical issues to play and/or screw people.
  16. For an irresponsible, reckless putz like Fitz, they are probably one in the same.
  17. I enjoyed this one more than any of the prior umpteen episodes. There were some decent story lines and some wit. As others have said, Marla Gibbs was magnificent. She can still still bring it as an actress big time. Diego rolling over on B613 for his wife and son was well done by Guillermo Díaz. It's too bad that they didn't didn't show Fitz' meeting with the Democratic Caucus. Did he fess up, grovel, lie through his teeth? Did he tell them about the war cabal conspiracy (conveniently leaving out Olivia of course)? Perhaps he promised to sign any bill that they sent to him. Maybe they'll show some of it in flashbacks but I'm not holding my breath for that. It will likely fade from sight as though it never happened. I kinda of like Red and sleazebag political consultant They are both so warped that they are pretty funny together and it sort of works. I did laugh at his line regarding her wearing the boots as part of their sex play. Just thought, "yup, that makes sense". I also with those who think new VP Snorting Laugh is somehow going to pan out and leave Mellie on the outside looking in. Now that will be fun to watch.
  18. Oh yeah. Maddie is with The William Morris and Rothman Andres. The chances of Abby actually being her "manager" are about the same as they are for my cat becoming my next US Senator. Check that, my cat being called Senator Molly has better odds in its favor.
  19. Stunning piece of work. Just Jess Goodwin playing and singing her beautiful song and Chloe dancing her heart onstage with the additional artistic/story punch of her watching herself perform. This is so much better than Maddie's Sia video. For one thing, you can actually see Jess Goodwin giving a very emotional rendition of her own work. Thank God that there are real, upper echelon choreographers who recognize Chloe's abilities as a dancer and a performer, are stepping up to nurture her and show the world what this young lady can really do now that she's out the clutches of the ALDC. I can only hope that Abby's (and maybe Melissa's as well) head exploded when she saw this video.
  20. Good lord, for Maddie's sake that should be that last thing that anyone wants. The show about that brat Asia was horrendous. More singular exposure at this age would do Maddie more harm than good, especially with that horse's ass of a mother she has. Melissa's ability to make choices that would not harm her daughter is seriously in doubt. Then there's the impact on Mckenzie to consider.
  21. I was very impressed with Maddie's solo. Whatever else she is or isn't, the kid can perform and has real stage presence. I didn't think that Brynn's solo was quite on the same level but that girl's extensions are something else. She is very much like Kalani in that way. They can pull off moves that look like the famous Beillmann spin in figure skating (kind of an illusion move) and look great doing it. I thought that Kathy's group dance was a hot mess. The staging overwhelmed the dancing at times and the gold drape was a distraction. Kathy is almost a borderline psychotic at times. This nonsense on the part of Kathy and Abby about some kind of a firewall having to exist between their moms is insane. Be competitive, sure, but lose any sense of civility or basic humanity, nope. Lucas is a pain in the ass at times but he's way better off being away from Kathy, Abby and the whole crazy clown car that is Dance Moms.
  22. Love Mary McCormack on the show. The sex scene between her and Don Cheadle was hilarious.
  23. As much as I like Michael J. Fox and admire his determination to continue his acting career while dealing with Parkinson's, it got to point that anytime Louis Canning returned, I cringed. They went to the well far too often with the character and there were always thinly veiled hints that he was playing up his medical condition to gain sympathy from judges and juries and was just plain manipulative. Even last night, you had Alicia making snarky comments about how long he's been dying or had liver or kidney failure. There's just something distasteful about it all.
  24. I don't really know what to make of this one. It was a stream of consciousness jumble. The best moment was when Peter was with Kalinda and said to Alicia something like "you know we really don't speak this way". That was actually funny. One thing that stood out was that Makenzie Vega, who plays Grace, has grown up to become quite a beautiful young lady.
  25. Fitz is now the dumbest, most irresponsible and unfit TV President in recent TV history. He launches a pointless war to save his main squeeze, sacrificing US soldiers lives in the process. He then wants his completely unqualified, basket case of a wife to somehow succeed him as President? Apparently, the optics and feasibility of this grand plan are lost on this fool. In order to accomplish this master political stroke, he now chooses a new, naive, thought disorganized, poiltically inexperienced senator with no common or street sense to be his new VP, one heartbeat forom the Oval Office. All this so she won't outshine the magnificent Mellie and deny her the nomination that is so justly hers for the taking? it's a miracle that Cyrus doesn't get Tom out of the prison he's buried in to apply another gentle needle tap to Fitz' neck. Really Shonda, you've got to come up with far better writing that this insanely implausible crap, even if it is for fictional TV.
