Currently watching the Mets being down 6-2. I just saw a promo for a Jesse Orosco bobblehead, where he's on his knees after striking out Marty Barrett to win the 1986 World Series. I might have to go to that game in late August. ETA: aaaaaaand Jimmy Rollins just hit another homer. Lucky he's with the Dodgers now, and the Mets only have to deal with him twice a year. Also: here's the Jesse bobblehead.

Heads up . . . Comedy Central has a "Christmas In July" thing happening this Saturday, and they'll be showing off old-school episodes of South Park.
-
That does nothing for me . . . but now I feel cheated, because I didn't get that watching him on Gotham. ETA: While I'm thinking of Milo and Heroes . . .

ratgirlagogo . . . what about the last game of the 2008 season? Tom Glavine lays the ultimate stink bomb, capping the Mets' second straight collapse, and sending Shea Stadium off on the lowest note possible. I think the only worse sendoff was when the Texas-bound Senators had to forfeit their last game in Washington because of unruly fans. I actually recorded the game because it was the Shea finale. I never saw it. I was in Baltimore for a comic book convention, and when I heard about the Mets loss, I just laughed. Really, the only way it could have been worse is if Glavine ripped off his jersey to reveal a Braves t-shirt, telling the Shea faithful to suck it. ETA: As bad as Shea was, I figure it could have been renovated over time. It's just that Fred Wilpon had a big ole Brooklyn Dodgers boner, and he wanted his own Ebbets Field.

Watching the Mets game. Kershaw was perfect through four. I turn off the TV, busy myself, flip back to the game . . . and Kershaw is perfect through six. I don't follow the Mets, but I feel like I know them so well at this point. Thank goodness for Curtis Granderson getting a hit. I don't know the last team to be no-hit twice in a season, but I know it's a stigma to be avoided if possible. The good news: Greinke might miss his start due to his wife giving birth. I reckon she would be the unofficial MVP for the Mets this weekend if he has to skip the series. ETA: Mets lose, 3-0. Kershaw's own consecutive scoreless inning streak hits 29. Should innings 21-29 count because they came against the Mets?

Nothing really grabbed me. You figure that most of the comics whose backgrounds were profiled got through to the semis. Norm MacDonald seemed out of it through most of the show. Anthony Jeselink's gimmick of smarm doesn't work well on a network show. Basically, the only surprise was that Amy Miller made it through . . . I guess Roseanne (who's still a cackler) and Kenan checked her box for Norm while he was passed out. Anybody else amused LCS tried to push Amy Schumer to the forefront while detailing its past at the beginning of the episode?

I didn't see the game. I do know that the Mets will be facing Clayton Kershaw and Zach Greinke in the next few days. Anybody else thinking of putting "shutout" in pen twice?

China, IL was canceled by Cartoon Network/Adult Swim. Here's the only poster I made . . . for Father's Day . . . If anybody is out there, you can join me in posting stuff up. I'd hate to be all alone here.

From AVClub: [as] has canceled China, IL. Probably for the best, since the half-hour episodes weren't nearly as much fun as the 15-minute installments, but I figure this show should be lamented slightly more than, say, Black Dynamite. ETA before I forget: Rick and Morty starts the second season on Sunday night at 11:30. There's a R&M forum made for critiquing the asshole and his butt monkey grandson. Wuba luba dub dub!!

How do you cull a field of over thirty competitors? Install an insane Body Prop that only three runners can complete. Oh, and "Mighty Meagan" flames out on the second obstacle. She probably gets a wild card for completing the qualifying round, but that was brutal to watch.

Sword Art Online - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Sword Art Online
I guess nobody in the SAO world watches Soul Eater. Going after Excalibur is a huge waste of time. "FOOLS!!!!" I hope Sinon isn't there to merely fill out the numbers. I'm also guessing that she became a cat person because that's what happened when she converted from GGO to ALO, and scales needed to be balanced in regards to Kirito looking like a chick in GGO. -
Thanks, Sandman87. That was the line I couldn't recall last night.

I think the Navy dogpile on the Straw Hats was added in the anime. As much of a wuss as Usopp can be, he's got a point . . .sword guys should fight Zoro, not him. Dunno where Sanji ran off to . . . I doubt he can lend a hand (foot?) to Luffy, especially with Straw Hat falling in battle to Lucci.

Mets just won in St. Louis. It took them 18 innings, they left a small village stranded in scoring position, they went up 1-0 in the thirteenth only for Familia to give up a homer in the bottom of the inning . . . but they did it. Also, it was around 85 degrees at Busch Stadium, which is downright balmy in comparison to an average summer's day there. Good thing they didn't play in Queens . . .. I think we cracked 95 here.

I got my copy of Sports Illustrated yesterday. Beyond the USWNT and Serena coverage, there's a nice story on the Mets' pitching sextet. One oversight . . . nothing about their hitting adventures. How do you write about Steven Matz without mentioning his 3-for-3 debut with 4 RBI and his grandfather going apeshit in the stands?

From CBR: New Yu-Gi-Oh! movie due out in 2016. I know that it'll get butchered in the Japanese-to-English process, but I'm curious about it, especially since the show's creator is going to be heavily involved. Also: Seto Kaiba! I know that there are anime characters more hardcore arrogant than him, but he was a joy to watch.

Latest episode? Not as disturbing as last week, even with Nui losing her arms. And apparently, loping off her arms really pisses her off. On the bright side, Satsuki shows off her apologetic side, and she and Ryuko get bitchin' side-by-side kamui transformation sequences. Oh, and I'm guessing all the club presidents will be getting their Goku Uniforms back, if Mako's Fight Club outfit is any indication.

Thanks, CMH1981. I was racking my brain trying to figure out who the guy was. And yeah, the Scott/Hope thing came out of left field.
-
This amuses me . . . cartoon of Matt Harvey as Batman and the other Mets pitchers is on the back page of the Daily News today. Something about Bartolo Colon in a mask and a cape says something to me.

Saw it today. I feel bad for Anthony Mackie. Falcon looked like a punk in the fight with Scott. The after-credits scene didn't soften the impact. BTW, I get what Marvel is setting up . . . but who's the third person in that scene? I thought the movie was okay. Usual Marvel stuff with nice effects and legit actors spouting ridiculous lines (this time, Michael Douglas), but I wasn't bowled over. Not like I was weeping when Anthony got killed. Ants are kinda/sorta gross for me still . . . though the idea of Cassie having a giant ant as a pet is cute. Disturbing, but cute.

Damn. Between this and Conan, I really should have watched Mad Max: Fury Road. Also: I can't see Archer getting that geeked out over Star Wars. Oh, and Archer has been nominated for Best Animated Series at the Emmys. Maybe the second time will be the charm for the show. The submitted episode was "Pocket Listing." You think the sound of erections brushing against fabric would be a factor either way?
-
Before I forget . . . what episode did TAR submit for the nomination?
-
Bumping up because South Park got an Emmy nomination, and this was the episode that was submitted.
-
In case you didn't hear . . . TAR got nominated for an Emmy. Once again, Phil didn't get a Best Host nom, though friggin' Jane Lynch did. Isn't Hollywood Game Night a glorified game show?

Anybody else mildly concerned that Key & Peele don't wear seat belts? I know, they're probably not actually driving and riding, but it's a bit annoying. Anybody ever try to get up when the seat belt light in on? Keegan looked like he was being put through the wringer with all the turbulence.
