  1. More training. More stalking. My mind wanders, and I wonder how Choji jumps from tree to tree without breaking any branches. "Chakra Magic" would be my first guess. Dumb question: is it a prerequisite of the Akatsuki to hate each other? Or at least pairing up ninja that are completely different in nature? "Sasori, my man, we need to pick up the pace." "I'm not your man, you freak." "That's nice. You have your biological essence in a tube, and I'm the freak. Do you kiss your mommy puppet with that mouth?"

I don't think I can pull off the Jesse Orosco bobblehead night at Citi Field. Tickets look to be scarce on the Mets' website, and it's limited to the first 15,000 fans. Meanwhile, George R.R. Martin will be coming to a Staten Island Yankees game this Saturday, and I'm not interested because I'm not into Game Of Thrones. Here's the info on the event:
  3. "It's . . . the Republican National Convention?!? Alright . . . " More on-topic: for some people, there's no such thing as bad publicity. I think Trump has that emblazoned on a pillow in his bedroom. Possibly in Latin. In other news, I hope Jon doesn't drive his family crazy, like Denis Leary suggests will happen.
  4. From YouTube . . . misunderstood anime lyrics . . . I remember LittleKuriboh doing something similar in his abridgement of the "Season Zero" movie from Yu-Gi-Oh! What stuck with me the most were the end lyrics: "Tourniquet/Frylock's high again." Bonus: lots of material from Maximum the Hormone's "What's Up People," used in the second opening credits for Death Note. Insane stuff. Speaking of anime, I saw the DVD for Dragonball Z: Battle of Gods. Nice for Goku to hit a level that's not easily attained. I don't know when I'll see Resurrection [F], but at least I'll be familiar with the enigmatic Beerus should he pop up again, either in the next sequel or the new DBZ series.
  5. This is Attack On Titan: Junior High. Is Japan screwing with us? No, really, I can't tell this time.

I was too busy watching American Ninja Warrior, so I missed the Mets' shellacking on the Marlins. They managed to score in more than one inning, which was bugging me a little. They can't just score a few times and hope the pitching hold up. Thanks to the magic of DVR, I managed to see Bartolo Colon get a hit up the middle. Not as big of a treat as seeing his double, but it was pretty nice.
  7. Brutal course. "Survive Cannonball Alley? Here's the Double Helix, guaranteed to burn your upper body to a crisp!" And the Invisible Ladder is still deceptively grueling. I think the shock of this Final was The Giant flaming out so early on the course. He's too telegenic not to get a wild card.
  8. I totally knew that flag wasn't "correct." I'm used to seeing a set numbers of rows, and the one John kept showing off looked different. Sorry . . . I like feeling smart, and I usually fall for John's feints.
  9. In brief: Morty rebels against Rick, saving a cloud of sentient gas from an assassin. Lives are lost, and Rick's cynical worldview triumphs over Morty's idealism. Also: Crisis of Infinite Jerrys! Well, not really a "crisis." More of a "sadness," because no Jerry can cope with an unfeeling universe. Interesting that Dave & Buster's exist in many worlds and/or dimensions, under other names. Apparently, you can play Roy, the hottest life simulation game. Natch, Morty winds up going back to selling carpets after beating cancer.
  10. Duly noted. Comments of the special have been directed there. Back on-topic: Has Amy Schumer ever been on TDS? I'm guessing she has, since she has a show on Comedy Central. It might be weird to see her so close to Jon's finale, since she would be expected to do a Trainwreck victory lap. Kinda like seeing a lottery winner crash a funeral.
  11. Anybody else a little disappointed by "News Your Own Adventure"? There were some great bits, including the Go Fuck Yourself Choir (and Jon's shimmying) and Jon and Stephen engaging in Super PAC shenngans. But everything felt like it came from 2009 at the earliest. What about the orgasm that was the end of the 2008 election, with Stephen breaking character and crying a little? Maybe I'm biased because I own the Indecision 2004 DVD set, and I loved Stephen challenging Jon to a duel (a la Zell Miller). We only got one bit with Stephen, and one with John-With-An-H. I think I prefer the mid-2000s TDS team and John. Nice to see Lewis Black be volatile. That never gets old. Maybe we can vote on which "Back In Black" bit was the best for the show's 20th birthday in 2016. I keep coming back to his commentary on video games, ending with Grand Theft Auto 3. "Rescuing the princess is for pussies!!" Good times.

How to tell when your team is crushing it: You see one of "your" players (in this case, Curtis Granderson) hit a home run. He circles the bases. ESPN replays the homer. And again. And again, from behind the hitter. Except . . . whoops! That's actually another hitter (Daniel Murphy) hitting his own homer on the very next pitch. Not to jinx the Mets, but damn, that was something else.
  13. Maybe it'll be Trump, leading to a massive pile-on of correspondents past and present. Biggest bummer for me . . . unless Omaze hasn't held their drawing yet, I probably didn't win a trip to the finale taping. Does tonight's "News Your Own Adventure" special count in this thread?
  14. Catching up . . . it turns out that Ragnarok resets the land, which is more or less what Ragnarok does. Kirito claims Excaibur and Klein lucks into getting Mjolnir after Thor whacks the giant king. Or king giant. Oh, and it turned out that Freya was Thor, which was unsettling to Kirito and Klein. Out of curiosity, has anybody heard Excalibur referred to as "Calibur"? That's new to me. Also, I'm guessing that this isn't the end of SAO, even if the year-ending quest would've made for a good epilogue, especially with Sinon pulling off a nifty magic spell to retrieve the discarded Excalibur.
  15. More unlikely: that the Navy would stop attacking long enough for the Straw Hats to get plot updates? Or that the Going Merry would be able to sail on its own from Water7, through Aqua Laguna, to save its crew at the last minute? I'm not complaining about either one, but a lot of disbelief needs to be suspended. Also: I'm guessing Zoro "borrowed" a sword after one of his blades got rusted.

So . . . orioles eat crabs? Did not know that. What is that in his left hand?
  18. Well, that was . . . unique. And Japanese. And a bit phallic. And I think Ragyo had her first (and only) orgasm. I reckon KLK works on its own, but I wouldn't mind any follow-up beyond Ryuko/Mako/Satsuki's "date." Seriously, how does mankind cope with waking up naked? I'd be scarred for life after seeing so much naked flesh. Also: just as well Ragyo and Nui perished. What kind of life could they have after committing crimes against humanity? Hell, what court would try them? Finally . . . here's something I found a while back on Cheezburger.

The Mets came from behind to beat the Nationals, 3-2. Only lingering concern is that Lucas Duda drove in all three runs, including two solo home runs . .. but hey, the Mets are now a game behind the Nats
  20. Anybody else disturbed with Robin-as-cat? The episode wasn't nearly as alarming as the NYE episode (dude, the scythe was going to land on the old man's head!), but seeing Robin find a way into Starfire's heart was a bit too much to take. Any word as to when we'd get more episodes?

Wow. So the guy that was supposed to be gone to Milwaukee two nights ago . . . hits a walk-off homer?!? I'm not complaining . . . it's one helluva storyline for Flores to have. And the Mets get their big gun tomorrow. Lost amid the heroics of Wilmer Flores . . . I think the guy that caught the homer did so with a cap. Not bad.
  22. Who wants a live-action American Naruto movie? No, seriously, who want it? Somebody does, and I'd like to know who.

Wasn't Cespides involved in a deal last year? Or am I remembering it wrong? Also: how much sweet-talk will be needed to placate Wheeler and Flores? Only the Mets could potentially wreck their own shortshop.

I'd like to gauge nostalgia on the sports networks. SNY shows "classic' games from Mets history, but what gets to me are the "Yearbooks." The Mets did some season-in-review films as early as the first few years of the franchise. It's oddly comforting to hear the voices of those that have passed on . . . in this case, original broadcasters Ralph Kiner and Bob Murphy. The formula does get altered . . . the 1987 highlight tape was hosted by Keith Hernandez and general manager Frank Cashen. Speaking of Murphy. . . sometimes during Mets games, SNY shows memorable moments from seasons past. They showed the end of a wild Mets/Phillies game from 1990 . . . I think the Mets blew a big lead, and Roger McDowell almost threw the ball away after a close play, but they wound up winning 10-9. The kicker is that Murphy was at the mic, and he yelled about how the Mets "won the damn thing." Pretty funny.
  25. Anybody else figure Arby's will play a role in the finale? Also, would anybody else be expecting Amy Schumer to be joined by her distant cousin, the senator? I know, he did the retrospective thing last week, but it might be funny to see them together. ETA: So there's no Nightly Show or @Midnight after the finale? ETA2: Just heard that Monday's @Midnight will feature Rob Riggle, Ed Helms and Al Madrigal. Alumni hoedown! No way does Chris Hardwick redlight anybody going into FTW.
