  1. I think this picture was taken from the episode. I DVR episodes because I fear about overrun from Last Week Tonight, and I usually delete them without a repeat viewing, but I might check in to see that shot of Rick, Birdperson and Swanchy. Or whatever his name is . . . the Snarf expy that engaged in autoerotic asphyxiation. Helluva party.
  2. I'm not posting in DBZK because I've already seen the episodes, and I don't need to see an abridging, especially since TeamFourStar does an ass-kicking take online. I might drop in to start threads on the movies, but that's about it. What do people think of Parasyte? What's the hook? I don't think it'll be in the position Akame Ga Kill currently finds itself, taking the slot of something that was balls-out insane (Kill la Kill). ETA: I was poking around the Time-Warner schedule, and I found out there's going to be a Michiko & Hatchin marathon on Labor Day weekend.
  3. There was a banned episode? If so . . . where could I see it? I've seen everything else from ATHF. Speaking of the late show . . . what were your favorite credits aside from Schooly D's original theme? I'm partial to Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1, describing Frylock as "a Sherlock Holmes with laser beam eyes." ATHFF was also pretty energetic, with the VAs rapping, Meatwad doing an improved hot dog and igloo, and two groupies hanging in Shake's cup.

Checked the Mets site again. I'd have to pay $75 for a ticket to Saturday's game. I don't love Jesse Orosco that much. Stubhub Is a little better, but I'd only be getting a ticket for myself. Meanwhile, tickets are readily available for the final game of the season. Once again, I'm hesitant to pull the trigger for stupid reasons.

Had to play catch-up with American Ninja Warrior tonight. When I left the Mets, they were down 4-1. When I got back to them? Up 13-7. They wound up homering eight times in the 16-7 win. Just another full-filled night, and I'm kinda sorry I missed it. ETA: Caught the highlights. The Mets scored fourteen unanswered runs to get the win. Also, there was a sizable contingent in Philly, and a lot of them stayed after the game to chant "WIL-MER FLO-RES!!!" as the second baseman got interviewed for SNY.
  6. I watched and liked it. Lots of fun runs coupled with snippets of highlights. I was already running behind the episode when I started watching it, and I had to rewind at the poor bastard who flamed out on the Barrel Drop (or whatever it's called), then had the barrel smack him in the head and knock him into the water. That was funny. Also amusing: Matt & Akbar when they're amped up on a ninja, or when the ninja flames out far too early. Michael Stanger got a wild card. I just know it. Nice that the three qualifying women from last year got wild cards. At least the finals won't be a total sausage party.
  7. Funimation put up a video for 7-3 running just under two minutes. Spoilers of Zoan-types below. Plus: Boa Hancock! I got a sketch of her and Salome back in 2011.
  8. RIP Asuma. The B-guys showed why they're the B-guys. They're probably competent in regular missions, but against an Akatsuki? They're overmatched. And Shikamaru doesn't think of keeping Hidan out of his voodoo whammy diagram.
  9. Called it. Sorry if I'm bragging over nothing, but I'm seldom correct in predictions on stuff I watch. Asuna's arc is the last one of SAOII, yes? I'd rather they devote a denouement to Kirito, since he's been the protagonist throughout the series, but I can get behind Asuna getting some depth. It's just that her mother is so awful. I'm not expecting her to create a character and dive in with her daughter, but pulling the plug for missing dinner? That's bad. ETA: Deleted extraneous stuff from the quote. Also, "awful" in the sense of not understanding her daughter, as opposed to legit evil "awful" like Gendo and Ragyo, my "go-to's" for evil parents.

Grantland's "The 30" column features the Mets this week. It's hard not to feel optimistic these days . . . .they up by five games on the preseason darlings, they have the weakest schedule in the majors (only .500-plus team they'll face is the Yankees), and David Wright comes back after four months of injury. Like I said before, they could overtake the Dodgers, get the home field in the NLDS, and have a good shot of going to their fifth World Series (third in my lifetime). ETA: Terry Collins gets NL Manager of the Year, right? I mean, I know that he's been in charge of the team through a lot of their sub-.500 seasons, but this edition is interesting to watch. ETA2: I was wrong . .. the Nationals are (barely) above .500. And I don't think I'll make the Jesse Orosco bobblehead game this Saturday. The only other mid-afternoon game is the last one of the season against the Nationals, which starts at 3 p.m. Should I tempt fate and get a ticket? ETA3: David Wright just crushed a ball in the Mets/Phillies game. Phillies are still up, 3-1, but damn, that was good to see.
  11. This week . . . Earth gets roped into a universal music competition. Rick and Morty manage to get to the final round, while Beth and Jerry have to deal with their new zealot daughter. Also: Keith David voices the president. That alone demands a sit-down to watch.
  12. Heads up . . . calls have been made for the next season. No, the one after the one coming up. Stop Being Polite has a list of people who got a call. Usual group of regulars and misfits, with a few surprises.
  13. Anybody else think the corrupt minster looks like an evil Santa Claus? That has to be intentional.
  14. Garp first appeared in (checking Wikia) episode 68. That's also the last time we see the two guys in his employ; a pair of characters who were introduced waaaaaaaaay back in the beginning of the anime. This is the first time we hear about Garp being Luffy's grandfather. We'll see that they share certain traits in the next episode or two. I don't know how much stuff the crew got off the Merry after the Luffy/Usopp fight aside from Nami's tangerines. You'll notice that they're wearing Galley-La t-shirts. I wonder if they've been made in real life. It looks like a nice design. ETA: I think the aforementioned characters might have been in Luffy and/or Zoro's flashback episodes. I can't remember.

Mets won back-to-back 14-9 games against the Rockies. Yes, the games were played in Denver.
  16. Well, if you're feeling nostalgic, AS runs episodes of Sealab 2021 at 4:15 on weeknights. And good call on the doll, spaceytraci1208. I just wish I could remember his name. I also remember Jiggle Billy, who would up blowing his own head off. ETA: Saw the ATHFF finale. Nice way to wrap up almost fifteen years of hijinks . . . with some continuity porn, but not enough to drown in it. Also liked the "return" of Santa, since I dug "T-Shirt Of The Dead." While I'm here . . . what's your favorite [as] series finale? I reckon Moral Orel is at the top, while The Boondocks is mired at the bottom. ETA2: Happy Time Harry! The most ironically-named doll on the market!
  17. Bumping up because issue #26 -- "In Dreams 2015" -- was released today, celebrating the twentieth anniversary of Astro City. Here's an interview with Kurt Busiek and Brent Anderson.
  18. Anybody else think The Amazing Race will pick up the trolley-catching game? Granted, the gunfire makes it extra spicy, so TAR would probably settle for paintballs instead of live ammo.

Watching Mets/Orioles. I hear Mets fans at Camden Yards. I hope they're better than Yankees supporters. Seriously, I've been to two Yankees/Orioles games in Baltimore. Yanks fans swarm the place like locusts, and it sucked when the O's were second division.
  20. Finally caught the episode. Asuna's mother is sad, mostly because she's a sad trope, and nowhere near as evil as Ragyo Kiriyun. Oh, and why didn't Asuna play the ultimate card:"Sure, Kazuto isn't loaded. . . but he saved me from Father's idea of Mystery Date!!!!" One interesting thing about Asuna's upcoming quest . . . there's the inherent danger that she might get pulled out of her "full dive" by her mother at any given moment.
  21. And Cheryl didn't even know she was saying that out loud. "Archer Vice" kicks off now on Comedy Central. I'll always dig "White Elephant" because I got a preview of that at NYCC 2013. I wonder what happened to all the office drones that weren't in the main cast. Aside from Brett, who wound up dying as he lived: getting shot.
  22. Damn, how many hands do you need to count the people who completed the regional finals course? Two?
  23. I'm guessing we won't get beyond black-and-white morality for another six episodes. Enough time for Tatsumi to get his place with Night Raid. I also figure one of Night Raid will get killed before the second set of credits roll. For some reason, I didn't think to compare Boss's mecha arm to Franky's. My mind went to Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. I did think of Dandy seeing the armored guy, though.
  24. Bumping up, since Aqua Teen Hunger Force Forever is wrapping up next Sunday. What do y'all remember about it? I keep flashing back to "Hand Banana," where the gang create a dog from Master Shake's hand, and it wins up raping Carl a bunch of times. Pretty dicey, but the humor worked . . . especially after Carl created his own dog, complete with two pairs of flip-flops.
  25. Biggest takeaway from this episode: Morty is okay with jerking it anywhere in the house. Anywhere. Plot was a doozy . .. parasites invaded the house, posing as distant relatives and friends with absurd backstories. Of course, lampshades are hung about how implausible Rick and Morty are on the surface. Oh, and one of the characters -- "Mr. Poopy Butthole," I believe -- turns out to be real, and winds up getting shot because he couldn't produce a bad flashback sequence.
