  1. Well, I'm sure Johnny would pay his taxes. I'm going to work on the Johnny bit on my blog. I'm thinking he's popular in part because he's a rogue (a la the Duke Boys), most of his rivals suck (especially Wes), and BMP coddles him. Susie might be incorrect in saying that Johnny took Adderall overnight in the final mission, but that's something I can't put past him. It's a matter of personal bias . . . I can't bear to give him one iota of credit when he wins, even though he's got the record of six. ETA: I forgot that BMP fined him for the Adderall. They didn't give the two points to Sarah, they didn't give the $275K to her . . . they just fined him. What, would making him chug Red Bull have been seen as "too obvious"?
  2. Listening to Bill Simmons' podcast with Johnny. For the hell of it, I looked through all of Johnny's appearances on Wikipedia. I calculate that he has played with 145 other Challengers, dating back to The Duel. I think that's a record for the show.
  3. Listening to the podcast because I want to write a blog entry on Johnny, and I feel like I have to and I hate myself enough to do it. If I were there to hear Bill Simmons open things by comparing Johnny to Bruce Jenner* and his performance in 1976, I would have punched them both. No. No. Bruce wound up breaking all sorts of records back in Montreal. Johnny won up getting his sixth Challenge win against an overmatched field, and he got to bone his partner. Speaking of Johnny Fortune . . . I checked the S29 speculation article on SBP, and his name is there. Shocker. Also, Jay is listed. What, will Teege be allowed to kick him in the balls at least once per episode? I maintain that he would be a better boyfriend to Jenna than Zach, but he quit. "THOU SHALT NOT THROW IN THE TOWEL" is commandant number one on this show. * I'm not referring to her as "Caitlyn" for the performance in 1976. If Caitlyn was competing in Montreal, she'd be in the heptathlon.
  4. If I'm not mistaken, Amanda Conner did that cover. Also, if you're a diehard fan of the show, the comic might be a little jarring. Anybody keeping up with Rebirth? I thought Deathstroke was good, but I want to see more of the story before judging it.
  5. Maybe the Olympic stuff is meant more for international audiences? I like the interplay between Jordan and Roy. I don't think the actual commentators wear old-fashioned headsets, but it's a good visual.
  6. This made me laugh. Hard. Shit like that is why I try to see genre movies ASAP. Seriously, the band would have proved more effective. Speaking of Waller . . . has there been major criticism that Viola Davis didn't look like a "Wall"?
  7. It was decent, and there were no incidents of a ghost performing oral sex. Not saying that the movie deserved to be a cultural touchstone, but it shouldn't be shat upon that hard.
  8. Never mind . . . the second issue will be released next week. And 12D had two more prologues . . . Meanwhile, 9D is kinky as hell. It's not based on Rose and Jack encountering super-powered people in 2016 San Francisco. Rather, it's the Doctor getting a summons for somebody he knows. But doesn't know that well yet.

Is it wrong that I think of this in regards to Prince Fielder?

Really? I remember Cecil hitting fifty homers back when that was rare. I would've guessed he had hit at least 400.
  11. Heads up: Through Thursday, [as] will be running the "Greatest Event In Television History" specials. Last night air the take on the credits of Simon & Simon. Tonight: Hart To Hart, followed by Too Close For Comfort and Bosom Buddies. Worth recording if you never seen them because. Jeff Probst hosts, but he doesn't slurp on alpha males like he does on Survivor.
  12. In the latest episode, we get lots of misdirection. And Kakashi's ninja hounds. I want more of Pakkun and his buddies. Are they regulars in Rock Lee's anime? Like how the one teamed with Naruto/Yamato/Hinata didn't say anything. His name is probably Japanese for "Pluto." The big reveal is that Kabuto has grafted Orochimaru parts to himself, mostly because he felt at home with Ol' Snakey. I'd say he needs to get laid, but that's a solution for too many problems in this series. Especially with Sasuke. He'll take care of that when Itachi is slain at his feet, and not a second before.
  13. Honest Game Trailer for Arkham City. "Make sure to savor Mark Hamil's excellent Joker while you still can, because from here on out, it's just gonna be Jared Leto doing Jim Carrey doing Good Charlotte." That's a bit harsh.
  14. I was going to blog about the finale, but I'm going to end it early and do a Johnny bash piece in the near future. Regarding the Adderall allegation, I'd like to float a metaphor for you. imagine Usain Bolt in the 4x100 relay. Imagine that the IOC has a system where the runner with the fastest time gets to decide how the medals are allocated. Bolt, being Bolt, winds up expanding on the lead he is given, and he clinches the win for Jamaica. He decides to keep all four medals for himself, which doesn't produce much criticism. The allegation from Susie would be finding out that Bolt had injected fast-acting steroids between qualifying heats, and that the IOC decided to give him four smaller medals. Is that too much? I'd appreciate the feedback. ETA: Here is "Challenge Postmortem: The Decision."

What is Tim Tebow doing, baseball-wise? And are the Dbacks on the outs in Phoenix? If so, I don't know where they could move.
  16. Because a media thread was never set up . . . SAO flick to premiere around the world. Would anybody reading this pay to see that?
  17. I would fast-forward through the beginning, the Wince/Camila bit, the Challenged Awards, and Johnny asking random New Yorkers what they'd do in his shoes.
  18. Dunno where else to put this . . . BMP is filming in Seattle. Stalkers, get to stalkin'. I wanna know if these idiots are anywhere near as awful as the GBOGH crew, and I'm betting BMP will lock down leaks this season. Also, you can find out about the MTV Classic marathons on the Past Seasons thread. RW1 will be run again next week, followed by RW2 and the first season of Road Rules.
  19. Early's cap: "I DON'T NETFLIX AND CHILL; I VHS AND F**K!" That's actually clever. Kudos. And I threw in the semicolon. Another episode focusing on Sheriff, with Rusty and Granny taking the week off. I think that I prefer the Cuyler clan over the supporting players.
  20. Great, now I got Leorio leering in my head. "Check out the pikas on her kura!!" For your enjoyment . . . here's Kurapika kicking Tonpa in the face.
  21. I vaguely remember seeing the US baseball team play South Korea at Shea Stadium before a Mets game. My main takeaway at the age of eight? Koreans' last names were said first.
  22. John Oliver takes on the Opening Ceremonies. Some stuff about Brazil's turbulent political scene is thrown in, and the clip doesn't have the follow-up of news ladies (and a few guys) getting hot and bothered over Pita. He's easily the most famous athlete to compete in Taekwondo, right?

The guy was instrumental to the 2001 Diamondbacks and 2004 Red Sox. Not saying he can walk on water, but never say never, y'know? Heads up for Mets fans . . . the game with Bartolo's homer is now on SNY's Mets Classics.
  24. *sigh* Token Girl That's Still Alive, then. I honestly thought there was just one female in the field.
  25. Turns out I was wrong about the split grand prize being the biggest payout. Wes and Jodi won $150,000 on The Duel. This raises a new question: did Johnny know this and take the $275K for himself to jab the ginger punching bag yet again? Really wouldn't put that past him.
