Poked around the schedule some more. The Boondocks will still be running next week, but it will start with the third season on Monday. That is much more bearable. Wernor Herzog in "It's A Black President, Huey Freeman." Good stuff.

The distinctive laughs are a running thing with the show. The only Straw Hat with that is Brook. Damn, Spa Owner must have inverted genitals. That was way too big of a gun. Gotta love Luffy's first instinct: destroy Spa Island. And everybody except Nami went along with it. And yes, Nami looked more endowed than usual. Not that I notice that.

Would anybody watch PBS if they had a series where the Pope and the Dalai Llama solve murders together? Seems like a hit to me.

Steve Trevor was the training wheels. Clark is the ten-speed. Liked the video game episode, even though Cyborg doesn't seem as evolved as his most popular incarnation. I did enjoy him hitting the "I AM BATMAN!" button too many times.

I have lots to share. For now, here's a Jack Russell not knowing how to run an agility course. And here's a nursing Frenchie momma no doubt thinking of better times.

I might have to go to this game. It's going to be a madhouse, and I'd probably have to camp out for hours. I'm probably better off going to Matt Harvey Garden Gnome Day in April. Still wondering if any Mets fans here would be open to meeting up.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Well, RIP Caesar. At least we never heard Jojo exclaim, "Caesar?!? I barely know 'er!!!" I guess that's implied. Caesar's backstory gets covered before the credits . . . abandoned by his father, turned into a thug, life saved by his dad as he got sucked into the wall with the Pillar Men. Thus the strong familial obligations, even though Mario didn't recognize his oldest and blondest son. Big surprise: Kars isn't holed up in the hotel, but Wammu is. Huge fight, bubbles vs. wind, and Wammu gets the win. Caesar keeps attacking before dying, and he rips off Wammu's lip ring to save Jojo's life. Also, like his grandfather, he gives his harmon to his rival. Jojo and Lisa Lisa were outside the hotel, but they didn't barge in. They enter as Wammu flees and have a huge cry about their comrade. Then they get ready to kick ass. How many more episodes is in this series? And has Toonami been confirmed to run the adventures of the Joestar line? Oh, and Messina tracks down Caesar, but Wammu kills him. RIP Messina. Jojo and Lisa Lisa did not seem broken up about that. Is Von Stroheim still alive? He's got halved like Zeppeli, but he's not human anymore. -
Another weird thought: in the opening credits (both full and shortened), they have Goku powering up. Nothing wrong with that, but there's a shot of my groin area. It's not explicit . . . you can see his legs and stomach, but it's just a little much for me. I went to Big Apple Comic Con this weekend, and look who I ran into today. I don't think I've seen those guys before at a con, but DBS has been out for a while, and I can be very oblivious.

Heads up: Comedy Central will be airing old episodes in late morning/early afternoon starting tomorrow. We're talking pre-Frank. ETA: Currently watching "The Dead Finds A Dead Guy." It holds up well.
-
I consider Norm McDonald to be the worst host. Colin was okay by comparison, though Tina Fey was a huge upgrade. And had I known this episode had the Titanic sketch with James Cameron signing off on it, I definitely would've made room on the DVR. Why doesn't Comedy Central air the show at odd hours anymore?

So. Time skip. Disillusioned Jack. Aku rules everything, and he's ruling it harder than ever. Jack cracks up. There's a cult raising girls to kill Jack. On the bright side, Jack kills an assassin robot that's patterned after Sammy Davis Jr. I fell off the wagon at some point during the original run, so I didn't see the last episodes. Gotta admit that this feels perfect . . .Gennedy moves on to other stuff, the show gets demanded by the diehards, and now he's presenting a final arc that's more bloody and violent to satisfy the fans who grew up with Jack. Probably not the plan, but it seems to work out well. Better guy to have in a dystopic world: Jack or Finn?

This week: Super Saiyan God Goku battles Beerus, and he's loving it. Yes, Beerus did threaten to blow Earth up, but they look like they're having fun. When has Goku ever fought when everything a fan could imagine was not on the line? Off the top of my head: Gohan (training during the Cell arc), Pikkon (Otherworld Tournament; got lopped off from DBZK) and Uub (not a misspell; it's a long story). Saw this on the Toonami Tumblr. Here's what gets me: most of those people can fly. I get needing the shuttle to see the fight, but why are they running? The only ones that I know can't get air are Maron and Oolong. And maybe Roshi. Anybody caring about the Pilaf gang? Me neither. At least Whis is still making friends.
-
@Winston9-DT3 . . . I kinda wish I was that clever. Have any commercials aired? If so, can they be found online? I don't think I watch anything on CBS besides that show.

Oy. If this was old-school Survivor, and it was three weeks into the game? Maybe I'd accept it. But it will have been a week, and starvation isn't a factor yet. The only way I'd accept goat meat on the menu is if they killed themselves rather than listen to Debbie. I kid . . . though she has as many jobs as that fucker Uncle Ruckus. ETA: Tai must not be in that camp. I know that I'd want to eat, but it would be hard to kill something that might have a personality with him around. Not like he'd demand another $100K from Sia . . . he's just that kind of guy.

Mobile Suit Gundam - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Mobile Suit Gundam
How much longer is this anime supposed to run? It's not interesting, at least compared to Iron-Blood Orphans. At the rate the show is going, we'll get a long-winded recap, immediately followed by a commercial. Occasionally, I hear a familiar word or voice (Richard "Batou" Epcar!), but it doesn't deliver the current level of batshit displayed on the other Toonami anime. ETA: The judges will also accept "Bobobo." -
I reacted on the Media thread. My amended thoughts: 10 p.m. is a crap slot even if you're not watching anything else that night, but we get TAR about a month earlier than scheduled, and maybe -- MAYBE -- we'll get TAR30. Of course, CBS could give Bertram and Elise "ideas" about future editions, and we'll never get back to what made the show great. Not like Phil would wind up homeless, or that a cancellation would give Probst reason to "teabag" him, but I still insist that TAR is better than Survivor, and should be treated in a consistent manner.

Watched it tonight. Kinda like how Crimson Fox's mask/hood vaguely resembles the original. It's smaller than canon (seen here), but I think it was tweaked from the pilot. Or maybe I wasn't paying attention. I like the idea of periods of intense cold created by supervillains. I think Young Justice started off with attacks from Mr. Freeze, Icicle, Captain Cold and Killer Frost. Felt bad for Ron, who just wanted to get on his "talking" sled. How old do you think Van's girlfriend's daughter is? She seems old enough to know that he's an asshole that wants to bang her mom, but she likes riding around in a mini-Invisible Jet.
-
In brief: putz kid gets attacked by a monster, and he winds up with an organ or hers or two. Now his body has changed, and he has to try to balance both sides. He fails a lot. Also, most of the ghouls wear stylish masks.

Heads up: Toonami is replacing One Piece with Tokyo Ghoul starting on March 25. I'm thinking a forum is in order, but it's been a while since I've read the manga. If you have thoughts on thread titles, post 'em here.
-
About the filler . . . turns out we won't be getting anything after that. The last episode will be run on Toonami next Saturday. It will be replaced by Tokyo Ghoul. This might be about widening the gap between televised episodes and the DVDs. Still feels like bullshit. We went through filler, the Davy Back Fights, Robin giving up every other episode, the Franky Family abusing Usopp, more filler, Absalom peeping on naked Nami . . . and we won't be getting the Sabaody Archipelago arc, which features the greatest defeat of the Straw Hats. Right now, I got Season Eight Second Voyage from the library . . . I was only able to see the episodes from Impel Down onward, and that's friggin' epic as well. I feel bad for myself and the viewers that are used to getting their fix on Toonami. If you want to talk about episodes beyond Thriller Bark, click here. I might be posting my thought on Marineford soon. So pissed off. #otakuproblems
-
Fucking what?!? What the everloving fuck?!?? So we won't be getting the Sabody arc, which leads to Amazon Lily, Impel Down and Marineford. That is bullshit. I tried to get into Tokyo Ghoul, but I'm not rushing to borrow volumes from the library like I do with One Piece, One-Punch Man and Assassination Classroom.
-
This might be the beginning of the end. I mean, I hate being Chicken Little, but that's how I feel. My big surprise is that CBS would let Training Day waste away on Saturday nights, since it's the last series featuring Bill Paxton. Thinking about it, maybe it's not a death/neglect sentence. Consider: we get TAR weeks early, and this comes after March Madness. I don't think I see anything that late on Thursdays; the only show I know that I watch that night is Powerless.
-
Thanks. And thank you, CBS, for not posting it on the TAR YouTube account

"Zazie Beetz"? That has to be made up, even for a non-American. Also: has anybody ever gotten excited about Domino? I know she debuted in New Mutants #98 with Deadpool and Gideon (who? Exactly), and she's starred in a lot of books, but does anybody have really fond memories of the character? The only one I can think of is the issue of A+X with her and Scarlet Witch, and that was because Adam Warren wrote and drew the story.
