Another retcon. Young Sheldon asks Tam to a final lunch in the school library. Tam mentions he already graduated from the school while Sheldon babbles about going to CalTech. In TBBT Sheldon has cut Tam out of his life (and memories, apparently) because they were both going to go to CalTech and Tam backed out at the last minute, so Sheldon had to go to California alone. I know I stand alone, but I refuse to believe TBBT Sheldon made up all the stories about his father cheating, shooting his mother's collector plates, being the liquor store owner's best customer, etc. In my mind, Young Sheldon is one of the infinite universes that exist and this George was flawed but ultimately a loving dad and husband. I love this George and this Mary (who would never tell outsiders that Missy and Georgie were dumber than a box of rocks) and I'm perfectly happy to watch this version of the Coopers.

I didn't like the red roses because the stained glassed leaned more to pinks, yellows, and purples (if I remember correctly). I thought Steven's big advantage was pretty lame. Birds versus flowers versus dragonflies? I think any of them could have done any of the themes. I think the biggest advantage anyone ever got was choosing between glaze, buttercream, and fondant frostings.- 3.4k replies

Nikki's dragonflies were crap. Maybe it tasted good but the decorations were bad. Robert's decoration looked too busy for me. Stephen's cake was stunning. Yeah! The right person won!- 3.4k replies

That has to be one of the stupidest titles I've ever heard.

Ugh. From the beginning Alex has been Nikki's biggest competition? I don't think so. I can't believe they kept Nikki over Alex.- 3.4k replies

That pissed me off. It comes across as the judges just not wanting to send the last woman home. From the judges comments, Nikki should have been on the bottom. I am confused by the "no sugar" comments about Alex. Strawberries are sweet to begin with. I am so glad Steven made it and I like Robert so I'm find with him making the final.- 3.4k replies

That's the best I think I have ever seen Nancy look. She should wear cute hats more often! Kate was absolutely the right person to send home. All she did was take pre-packaged lady fingers, crumble them up, dye them green and toast them? I'm shocked she didn't think she needed a baked item for a main challenge! I'm wondering if she was just over it. Did I miss it or did Alex use pre-packaged lady fingers in his Charlotte? If so, I protest! I don't like when they use cookies or other items that are already made even if they make the rest from scratch. Alex has learned to play the game and cater to Nancy. He specifically made that gel for her. -

Most of the petit fours looked horrible. Either the sides weren't covered or the glaze was too thin. The Great British Baking Show judges would have had scathing commentary. Unless they edited it out, these judges were pretty forgiving.- 3.4k replies

I'm glad Rochelle is finally gone. I thought it was interesting that the judges dinged her for not trying hard enough in the preheats. I didn't quite get Jesse's sports metaphor though. I like everyone left so I don't really care who wins, although Alex is wonderful. -

I still take exception to "cookie salad" being described as a Midwestern dish. I've lived in Minnesota pretty much my entire life, have a ton of N Dakota relatives, and went to school in Wisconsin. I have never heard of it. Not at a single pot luck or wake or church dinner. It may be eaten somewhere, but it is not a standard dish in any Midwestern gathering I've attended.- 3.4k replies

I've been rewatching this and I'm still super annoyed with Julie Montagu! I guess we were all wrong about the British public accepting Camilla as Queen 😄 Especially now that Charles has cancer and she's performing all sorts of public duties alone.

I think the judges/producers are considering the past. There's no way a "one note" cake loses over Steven's gummy cake. Duff stuck his finger in it to show the horrible texture! Not that I'm complaining, I would have been bummed out if Steven left. We're stuck with Rochelle another week. Sigh. I was so hopeful when she screwed up the macarons so badly, but then her prom dress was spectacular. -

Is Anna a home baker? I thought "not classically trained" just meant she learned from working in a bakery rather than attending Cordon Bleu or something. -

The baking gods are smiling down at Rochelle, that's for sure. Holi donuts and partnering with Alex for the main heat? I was hoping she'd wash out this episode. Although Jesse going on and on about the Rochelle rollercoaster seemed mean spirited. Sabrina just couldn't pivot when it was obvious the rice elephant head wasn't going to work. Even if the cake was cold, the head seemed way too large (and therefore heavy) to be held up by that size of a cake. She was definitely the right one to go home based on that challenge. -

Robert is American/Canadian. Alex is French. I think a number of prior comments are actually talking about Alex...but I could be wrong! 😄 -

I would have been very happy with a double elimination. Zoey hasn't been doing well for a while and Rochelle has had some bad bakes. Steven looks like the front runner at this point. -

I refused to click on the link because People gives so much free publicity to these guys, but apparently North West is putting out an album??? Say it ain't so! -

I can't believe there was even a discussion about who would go home. I would have been embarrassed to serve that mess of a cake, and I am not on a baking show! There are too many people so I don't know who I'm rooting for yet. -
Casting Christopher Walken as the Emperor was a mistake. I swear, he sounded like a bad impersonator! He has a distinctive cadence, but he needs to be able to tone it down when he's acting. I was impressed with Chalamet's transition from the teenage Paul in Dune I to someone who actually felt like a leader by the end of Dune II. I read the first two Dune books about 45 years ago (argh! is that even possible???) so I don't remember the details. I've been able to enjoy the films without worrying about differences from the book.

I was dubious about Elemental, but I ended up liking it. I'm not a fan of Red Panda. The mother is so horrible I can't find her funny. And I never saw Wish.

The trailer looks good. I'm very curious how Costner addresses the competing narratives of white settlers bravely pushing West and the indigenous peoples they're displacing.

That list of upcoming films made me sad. Not an original in the bunch. Are we doomed to sequels and live action re-makes for all time? I want to see originals! How are we going to get the next Frozen, or Inside Out, if all the talent and attention is on retreads?

Argh! The women keep falling in the pairs free skate! It's aggravating that it's always the women. Should they keep jumps to doubles? Just physically, the men are going to have an advantage on the jumping. So quit pushing triples that the female skaters can't do. To me, so much of pairs skating is the interaction between the skaters ,the lifts, and throws. So expecting difficult individual jumps as well seems like overkill.

I know it's futile, but I sure wish Johnny and Tara would take a breather now and again and let us hear the music! They talk incessantly. Watching figure skating is more than counting the points, it's seeing how the skater interprets the music. And when you can't hear it, the performance loses a lot of emotional impact. Luckily the judges don't have to hear it. I just wish I didn't either!
