    Disney Films

I just watched Bambi for the first times in decades, and I have thoughts. First of all, at least in Minnesota, deer hunting season is in the FALL, not Spring. Even if I could give them the benefit of the doubt and pretend the first shooting was a poacher, the killing of Bambi's mother was by a whole encampment of hunters, complete with tents and fires. These were not poachers. Secondly, no deer hunter goes out with a pack of dogs, especially not loud, vicious dogs. Completely counter productive. Deer hunting requires stealth, as deer have very good hearing. Most of all, as an adult, I was shocked that Bambi is kind of boring! There are long stretches with nothing but scenes of the forest while an off screen choir sing sappy songs. I can't believe modern day children would even sit through this movie. I wish I had left my warm feelings about the movie alone and skipped the rewatch. 😔 With Disney+ I've been rewatching a lot of movies and really enjoyed them (Pollyanna, Parent Trap, Jungle Book, Freaky Friday, etc). I am sad that Bambi didn't live up to my memories.
  2. Not only was It not necessary, it was said in the most ham fisted fashion. Did he encourage the team that won the challenge to yell "Up yours, losers!" I'm sure the producers push a lot of this stuff, but I would think Jesse has been around enough to push back on their more stupid ideas.
  3. I agree. Comparing himself as an "immigrant" to Javier was insensitive. And he was definitely trying to stir the pot during the team challenge.
  4. Javier! No! Such a bad time to have an off bake! I wonder if the failure of his isomalt dome was sticking with him. As soon as Justine named their team "The Winners" you knew they were doomed. I felt so bad for Javier when attempt after attempt failed. I was about to chastise Justine for making yet another raspberry dessert, but then I remembered that she was actually assigned that flavor! 😁
  5. Once again, the judges chose correctly. Josh was definitely the one to go. I was so worried for Justine with her raspberry disaster. Luckily it tested fantastic.
  6. The right person went home again! I can do a little snark about comments, but ultimately, the judges are sending the right people home. During the preheat, Ashley's hair was touching Santa's face! Gross!
  7. And why hang them so low the judges had to stoop to see them? I guess they should have had those things mechanics use to roll under cars (apparently called "creeper seats"!).
  8. After Bert leaving tonight, there's still 8 bakers left! There must be some double eliminations coming up. Christmas is only 4 weeks away. The right person went home. I haven't been able to complain about the eliminations this season.
  9. Why do the bone heads at NBC and CBS think Thanksgiving Day Parade viewers want to see talking heads and minor guest stars instead of the actual parade!!! I'm going to have to turn it off before my mood turns.
  10. I never felt like Jennifer was enjoying herself, which made me not want to root for her. I feel like she'll be happier not competing. I was so worried for Justine. She's one of my favorites and she screwed up both times! It bugs me when people on this show use packaged lady fingers in their dessert.
  11. They certainly seem to be going for mood and atmosphere instead of plot or character development. I am curious about some things. Are they red herrings or will they become meaningful? Books - both on the plane and at the hotel. Who builds a library in a plane? The retreat had been planned for two years, but Darby was only invited 2 weeks before. Was she a last minute addition? The hotel manager - first, he bumps into Darby in the hallway , close to Bill's room, then later he throws her out of the room saying "This is a private matter!" He seems to be reacting to things in an odd way. Fang - Why on earth did Bill pick Fang as his artist name? When the first body is dug up in the flashback, Darby holds up the earrings and specifically looks at one of the cops and ask, "Have you seen these?" And then later Darby and Bill mention they aren't going to the police with their evidence because they won't go against "one of their own."
  12. Even though I knew they were promoted, the editing did a great job making that Boreham Wood game tense and exciting. Setting a goofy goal go past Foster at 0:49 was jaw dropping. I loved the crowd streaming onto the field at the end of the game and the 40,000 people that showed up for the parade! I was at a must win Game 6 home game in the World Series many moons ago and the absolute euphoria when we won is impossible to describe.
  13. I guess they're replacing the talking heads with baker cam? Bad decision! It's clear the talking heads were "directed" by somebody offscreen and therefore the baker's responses were usually clear. I suppose the questioner could rephrase until the baker's had a TV worthy thing to say 😃 The baker cam is just stupid. Suddenly a baker stops what they're doing, scurries over to a corner and looks up into a camera and starts talking? Food Network, drop it please!
  14. I loved Captain Marvel. I'm a little nervous about this one. I hope Carol's character isn't side lined.
  15. I don't know everyone's name yet, but I like Alex and Justine. Jennifer seems so glum. She's so stressed out. I hate the Baker Cam.
  16. I was disappointed in James' two headed monster. Since it's the primary theme of his dessert, I think he should have done it in a baked component, not modeling chocolate. Make a stack of cakes and then carve it into 2 heads. I also thought it was interesting that everyone used fondant and the judges were ok with it. I'm sure I remember judges in the past saying nobody really likes to eat fondant. I assume they don't like to eat gobs of modeling chocolate either. Ryan must not have watched past seasons. There have been a couple of bakers who tried to whip up the boxed egg whites with no success. I thought his idea of "lost souls" being trapped behind glass, but he definitely needed more time to pull it off.
  17. I just found this on Hulu. I loved the first season, liked the second, and was bored by the third. The quality of the contestants seemed to go downhill. A number of them could not temper chocolate! I like the concept of the show, although I hate white "chocolate" with the power of a thousand burning suns! The judges have critiques even on bakes that they like which is great because none of them are going to be perfect. And I appreciate that nobody has a catchphrase like "Duuuuuuude".
  18. For a moment yesterday I was like, Yeah! It's Tuesday! Then I remembered, no new episode. 😭😭
  19. I was blown away by Rosie Hughes and the Wrexham women's team! The poor women, their pitch is a muddy mess and fans just lean against a hitching post. It was cute of the two girls to change the Paul Mullin song lyrics to fit Rosie. I hope there's more about the women players in future episodes. And I certainly hope to see a better paying environment!
  20. Did the mysterious activities of Charles' father really get explained in the first season? Besides the torrid romance, wasn't he kind of shady?
  21. I loved their interactions! Mabel's silver dress was absolutely stunning! Selena looked gorgeous! I sure hope Loretta doesn't bail on the play after one performance! She should stay for at least a couple of months. The scene between her and Dickie during the play was so touching. I got a little teary. So, did the sniper mean to shoot Sazz or did they think it was Charles? Enquiring minds can't wait until next season.
  22. Rob is an ass. I honestly can't imagine Ryan pulling that shit. Poor Sean and his wife can't enjoy their vacation because Rob won't behave like an adult.
  23. Matthew Broderick! He's one of my absolute favorite actors. If you ever want a cry, watch Glory. Matthew being a workaholic uber-method actor was delightful. He was clearly having a great time. And I loved Oliver's sending him off by basically comparing himself to a horse Charles once acted with. I don't really watch this show for the mystery, so I let the clues just wash over me. 😆 Someone in an earlier post pointed out that Tobert is probably working for Cinda because of all the podcast tools he suddenly has. That's a good theory.
