S46.E06: Dave Chappelle / The Foo Fighters
TheOtherOne replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Saturday Night Live
Here's the original article on Popsugar PageSix is referring to: SNL Had 85 Minutes to Re-Create Kamala Harris's White Pantsuit For Maya Rudolph — Here's How They Did It -
Just makes me so happy (and I need that). The win I wanted to see the most, and was happiest for.

Doing a rewatch (needing happiness at the moment), including the Christmas episode I hadn't watched in a long time for some reason. I think Singles Week is supposed to take place in fall. Four episodes before that, in "The Gesture," Stevie mentions David is wearing a leather sweater in the dead of summer. Two episodes before that was David and Patrick's four month anniversary, and they got together the night of Alexis's high school graduation (presumably in May; maybe April?). Plus in "The Gesture" Alexis had graduated from her college program after four months, so if she started in May/June (and D&P were still in the very early stages in "Pregnancy Test,") that would take us to roughly to August/September. The timeline of Jocelyn's pregnancy would also likely take us into late fall when she gave birth, so there shouldn't be that much of a time gap between Singles Week and this one. Yes, I'm overthinking this.

The Emmy submissions are being announced over at Gold Derby. Annie submitted "The Presidential Suite" for her episode; definitely a good choice acting-wise. I just hope it's not too serious/not as funny as the competition. Catherine submitted "The Incident," which...is a strange choice. There are at least half a dozen episodes I would have picked for her before that one. She barely has anything to do in it, and it's not really about her character. Hopefully the voters are familiar enough with her work and have seen enough of the other episodes (the number of nominations the show received overall would indicate that's the case) to judge her on more than just that.

Food Network and Cooking Channel: One is about food
TheOtherOne replied to HyeChaps's topic in Network Talk
Was looking for a thread on the Amy Schumer show, and didn't find one, but I suppose there's not much to say. I'm one of those who doesn't normally watch the Food Network and can take or leave her, but after watching some videos of her husband on Youtube (after being nosy/curious about him), I finally checked out this show. I like his laidback vibe (perfect for these times) and he knows what he's doing (since he obviously is a chef), so I mainly kept watching for him. (She's fine; moderately amusing in general, I guess.) I know "Chris Fischer Teaches Amy Schumer to Cook" wouldn't be a title that sells, but that's the show I'm watching. Sorry to see it isn't doing well, but glad it's coming back. -
**shrug** I liked it. The Peacock parts were easy to fast-forward through (I didn't watch it live). It was really no different than watching a regular episode with commercials, except all the commercials were for the same thing (like the old single-sponsor stuff shows had way back when). The whole thing was 55 minutes; approximately 15 was Peacock/Olympic/NBC stuff. That's still a lot of show. But then, I went in knowing it was a commercial/replacement for the upfronts and actually expected a lot less show and a lot more promo than I got. I loved seeing the characters again, it was really well-made compared to a lot of pandemic-produced shows, and the outtakes at the end were a blast. I enjoyed it.

18% was hardly a "shitty" tip in 1997, when 15% likely would have been considered the norm. (Heck, an episode of Friends that year had Monica using the old "double the tax" method of tip calculating, which usually worked out to far less than 20.)

Beth is the best. Every moment she had in this episode was gold. I miss when this was a show where she was in a good marriage, and not just a good woman stuck with a horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE man.

S01.E03: The End Is the Beginning
TheOtherOne replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Star Trek: Picard
I love Laris and Zhaban. Especially Laris. That fight scene might have been my favorite of the show thus far, though the ending with "Engage" and the TNG theme song obviously hit exactly the right note. It's been a slow build, which I didn't mind, but excited to see where the show goes now that it actually feels like it's going! -
I thought the painting on his wall didn't show her face (the hood was up). That's why he had to see the one in the archives--it did show the face he now recognized as Dahj's.

Grey's Anatomy in the Media: Incident Reporting
TheOtherOne replied to stopthestatic's topic in Grey's Anatomy
Well, then there are a lot of reporters being mistaken or getting false information, because Variety and the Hollywood Reporter are saying the same. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/justin-chambers-exiting-greys-anatomy-1268590 "Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Chambers' final episode has already aired — the Nov. 15 installment that saw Alex step in to help save Meredith's (Ellen Pompeo) career." https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/greys-anatomy-justin-chambers-exits-1203463250/ "Sources confirmed to Variety that the Nov. 14 episode was Chambers’ final outing on the series." -

Yeah, odds are he was fired. Something went down. Or else they just decided to give him the same ending Izzy got...which seems fitting. The character left town...and was never heard from again. Sorry, Jo. -

We won't see Fran unless she's recast, and I doubt that would make anyone happy. Leila Kenzle retired from acting and is a practicing therapist now, and while other reboots have pulled in people who aren't really acting anymore, I think they announced she wouldn't return.
