  1. I suspect this is not an unpopular opinion! I agree that Ryan Seacrest is just about the worst possible choice to replace Pat Sajak.
  2. I sang "Old MacDonald", with lots of interesting variations on what he had on his farm, such as a COVID patient, with a cough cough here and a cough cough there. I know, I know, it's a serious, potentially deadly disease, but I do tend to have a bit of a morbid sense of humor.
  3. Archive game for me for last night, but FJ was an instaget. I also got the TS of Antarctica, Johnson & Johnson, Switzerland, amortize, and Skylab. I do have the ep recorded (I hope!), so I'll have to check out the new champ.
  4. My mother’s church sent us things like paper towels, toilet paper, and paper plates after she died. So much better than flowers!
  5. Those look like what we used to call "stick-tights".
  6. That line from that movie may or may not have influenced my wanting the cheesemonger to win. It's pretty painful to listen to.
  7. Instaget FJ for me tonight. I even supplied the "Oh, the humanity!" line, although I always think of Les Nessman and the turkeys when I hear it. I only got three TS, though -- anemometer, Pasteur, and smallpox. I should have gotten Kepler, but I couldn't get his name from my brain to my mouth in time. I kind of wanted the cheesemonger to win.
  8. And if you didn’t have a husband, would they just decline even to come look at your house? My lack of a husband (or lack of a penis) should not automatically disqualify me from having work done on my house.
  9. I mostly read, sometimes nap a little (I can't really sleep in public*), or will watch a movie on the in-flight entertainment if it's included in the price of the flight. I won't pay extra. I will take my own headphones/earbuds, just in case. It also depends a little on the timing and length of the flight. If it's a long, overnight flight, I'll try to sleep a bit. Long, daytime flight, I'll watch a movie or two, and maybe nap. Shorter flights, I'll read and try to nap a little. I also like the window seat -- I have some pretty nice photos of my destinations from above. *I even had a miles upgrade once to a lie-flat seat in a cozy little pod and still didn't actually sleep.
  10. A sad 2/5 this week, but they were both asterisks!
  11. I was so excited about "Female Authors" instead of "Women Authors" that I missed it. And I've read the book, too! Boo, hiss. But I did get the TS of Ling-Ling, Elizabeth II, Preamble to the Constitution, Flagstaff, and Mohs scale.
  12. I liked Costner best in Silverado. He seemed to be having fun, and wasn't taking himself too seriously. And it restored my faith in westerns, as well as showing me that it isn't westerns I don't like, it's John Wayne.
  13. No surprise, I did not get FJ. I was rooting for Dan as well, mostly because of his bowtie. I only got three TS -- Baroque, Hadrian's Wall, and What We Do in the Shadows.
  14. Yep. We've just been stuck under this low pressure system for the past week. I'm tired of the cold rain, but I don't really envy Texas at the minute!
  15. I should not have to turn on my bloody heat in the middle of bloody June! I should need the AC -- or at least be able to open windows without freezing! The high temp today was about 62F, and that's lower than what our June lows usually are. And it's been pouring the rain all damn week. I need some sun! My neighbor across the street left town last weekend, and left one of her car windows halfway down. Her car has to be full of rain by now.
  16. Agreed. That episode is brilliant just because Stanley and Tony work so well together.
  17. That's partly why I said Tasman Sea as one of my guesses.
  18. I think I've liked 80-95% of every job I've had. There are aspects of any job that I will never like -- with my current job, it's mostly the commute I hate. With most of the jobs, there's usually some paperwork-y, administrative stuff that I don't particularly care for. But I am working in my chosen field, for which I have college degrees, so I can't complain too much. I have had some real shitheads for bosses, too, but even they didn't dampen my enthusiasm for the actual work. I even mostly liked my summer job at the amusement park, back in the day, when we got literal peanuts with our paychecks. (My least favorite part of that job was the costume.)
  19. I only remembered Flying Tomato. I wonder if that would have been accepted?
  20. I said Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean. Oops! Once again, geography defeats me. And I only got the TS of decoys, etymology, divorce, and Dead Sea scrolls.
  21. Nope. Smoking is a deal-breaker for me, too.
