  1. In 2013, when I got my current job, I got the initial offer via e-mail, which was followed up by a snail mail letter.
  2. I have a few bills where a check is pretty much my only option. There are no on-line options, and the only other option is to write a credit card number on the paper I have to mail back. Nope. Not happening. I'd rather send a check. Fortunately, one of those bills is the water bill, and I can drop that off in the town's secure drop box.
  3. 2/5 this week. Happy Belated Anniversary, @Toothbrush! Have fun in London!
  4. Thank goodness for animal-related FJs! Instaget for me tonight, ending the week on a high note. I only got three TS, though -- Invisible Man, Enigma machine, and Walther PPK.
  5. Given the timing of my issues, I believe the same thing.
  6. Instaget FJ for me tonight, and thank you to the rabbits for keeping me from being skunked this week for FJs! (Yes, I know, there's still tomorrow, but at the rate I'm going, tonight will be the only one I get!) That was a much better game -- it seems like there were far fewer TS than we've had lately. The ones I got include Bridget Jones' Diary, Las Vegas Strip (assuming they'd have accepted that instead of the actual road name), show jumping, tintype, and I-10.
  7. I did think about that — there’s a scene in Notting Hill where Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant talk about that — but I couldn’t think of a clever way to add it to my comment. 😉
  8. I said Rwanda because of the mountain gorillas. It makes sense! But that makes me 0/3 on FJ this week. I did get a bunch of TS, though, including fugu, peach pit, Savannah, systolic/diastolic, Cecil Rhodes, Dali, Unser, by hook or by crook, 1918 (total guess), and factorial.
  9. I am terrible at classical music, so I had no idea for FJ. I've heard of the Brandenburg Concertos, and it's quite possible that I've heard the concertos, but had no idea that they were connected to any person other than the composer. But I did get 14 TS! 14! I didn't count how many there were in total, but I think there were quite a few I didn't get. Ones I did get were toothless, Baked Alaska, littleneck, terrier, whippet, Scotland, Rhone, John Singer Sargent, todo el mundo, Ceres, Dartmouth, running of the bulls, entropy, and stratosphere. I ran out of space on the sheet where I keep track of TS!
  10. I know Gabrielle Union from "Bring It On" and "10 Things I Hate About You."
  11. Add me to the list of those who chanelled Katharine Hepburn with the calla lilies!
  12. "To cut short" also led me to truncate, where I similarly got lost. I could have sat here all night and not come up with the correct response for FJ. I did get the TS of 70, calla lilies, coho, Cornwall, and The Wind In The Willows.
  13. I put a lot of things on auto-pay in late 2020 when the post office kept making my mailed checks late.
  14. Aw, man, they got me at the end with Marion and Indy. All the feels with the callback to the "where doesn't it hurt" scene from the first movie. I had a good time watching -- so many Easter eggs, and lots of the best elements from the previous films. Nazis, vehicle/horse chases, trains and tunnels, snakes (okay, eels), crazy arthropods in tunnels (not spiders, but still), a smart-ass woman (but at least this one wasn't completely useless like Willie, though not as endearing as Marion), smart kid, hidden messages in secret code, and old friends, especially Sallah surrounded by kids. The bad guy was almost as effective as Belloq, but not quite. No one can quite compare with Belloq, I don't think. It didn't bother me in the slightest that Mutt died offscreen. I got emotional along with Indy when he talked about where and when he'd go back in time, given the opportunity. I was quite glad that Helena "convinced" Indy not to stay in the past. Butterfly effect, y'all! She was 100% correct, and Indy knew it. He just didn't want to admit it. Good on them for dragging him back to the plane.
  15. I said Spain for FJ. My first thought was France, but I discounted it as too obvious. I was so very wrong on so very many levels! But I did get several of the many TS, including windsurfing, Winnebago, Tropicana, Eider down, For Your Eyes Only, quartz, Treasure Island, and The Perfect Storm.
  16. I also said Ghost for FJ, focusing on the ceramics part of the clue. And then I couldn't remember if that even came out in the 90s (I looked it up -- 1990), but nothing else came to me. I have seen Titanic, but apparently have blocked most of it from my memory. Thank goodness. I did get the TS of Finland, Victoria & Albert, Guggenheim, bittersweet, Latvia, and Zanzibar. There were a couple that I should have gotten, but couldn't bring the words from my brain in time.
  17. I can understand 42 being a TS, though it makes me sad, but if you don’t know, don’t ring in with some random number! I still want to know where he got 37.
  18. Instaget FJ again for me tonight! Or at least an instaguess tonight. I also got several of the many TS, including stands, Mines of Moria, 42, Emma Thompson, Judi Dench, Triplets of Belleville, chariot, and burglary. I saw Triplets of Belleville a long time ago, so I don't remember a whole lot about it except that I really liked it a lot! Also, WTF with 37 instead of 42? Where did 37 come from?
  19. Old MacDonald Had A Farm. In addition to farm animals and COVID patients, I also included disgruntled workers, with various curse words here, different curse words there, and everywhere yet another, different curse word.
  20. I saw this last night, and had a blast. That said, it does seem like Wes is trying to out-Wes himself, with all the layers to the story (stories?). I will also add that if you aren't familiar with his work, this is not the place to start.
