Oh.My.God. with the Tarzan impersonation! The category itself was bad enough without Alex and the voice. I was surprised the now-former champ missed moveable feast -- I don't even like Hemingway and I got that one. I was less surprised that no one knew where the Great Dismal Swamp is, although if you're given Virginia, your choices are limited.

Not Paul Revere's house and not liquid nitrogen, but otherwise not a bad ep. It got a little dusty in my house when Papa Mills gave Jenny the bag of pink taffy.

S01.E09: Calm Before The Storm
Browncoat replied to ApathyMonger's topic in You, Me And The Apocalypse [V]
If you do, please come here and let us know! -
I can't believe Richmond, VA was a TS. I also got pall, based on the word pallbearer. It was a total guess, but it seemed like the logical thing. I was a little surprised that the guy didn't think of it. FJ was an instaget. And Alex's pronunciation of Camus never fails to amuse me -- just like his pronunciation of genre. I have become unable to say "genre" except as Alex says it.

S01.E09: Calm Before The Storm

Good call on the blue shirt. I assume (and we know what happens when we do that!) that Grandmother sent her henchperson to the US in a private jet, and that's how the US contingent will get to Slough. -
Seeing Val Kilmer in Tombstone definitely helped me get FJ.

S01.E09: Calm Before The Storm

Are we actually seeing Ariel in the bunker and not Jamie? I think Rhonda and Scotty (and whoever else from the jailbreak) are on their way to Slough. Grandmother's representative who was there with Spike and Rhonda's husband was there to take them to Grandmother's bunker in Slough, wasn't she? -
I enjoyed the triple rhyme time category! I liked the middle guy, too, and was sorry he missed FJ. I got it, but it took me a minute, and I doubt I'd have had time to write it down.

Tonight's FJ was a challenge, but Mir was the only thing that came to mind. I was sure I was way off, too (I'm bad with dates!), so I was pleasantly surprised. Chernobyl didn't even occur to me.

Oh, I just remembered a TS that I got -- tagliatelle! I was shouting that at the TV, too, and rolling my eyes at their GGs.
-
That was NOT a diving duck. That was a dabbling duck. Diving ducks actually dive -- like totally underwater. I was shouting "Himalayas!" at the TV for the mountain range the geese migrate over. Titicaca? Really? So many other GG, I lost track. Hated the adjectives category. Hated the new champ's neverending story. FJ was easy.

I was screeching "Screech Owl!" at my TV. Alex can stop with the voices/impersonations along with the accents.
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one who snickers every time Pandora talks about her box.
-
I, too, said, "Hercule Poirot" in my best Alex voice as soon as the category was revealed! I was delighted to see the clue.

My local station knows how rabid we Jeopardy! fans are, so rather than pre-empting, they've just moved it to a different (morning) timeslot and pre-empted Millionaire instead. Fortunately, my DVR can find J! at its odd time, and I still get to watch.

I did not see that ending with Jude and Celine coming at.all. I normally detest vomit jokes, but in this case, yay, vomit! But Ariel's still out there somewhere. Poor Dave.

I am not sorry to see Philip go, but I am surprised that he crashed and burned so badly that he didn't even get to FJ. I'm also surprised he didn't get Christchurch -- seemed obvious to me based on the religion hint in the clue. I'm also a little surprised no one knew Gardasil. I wonder if they would have accepted just Shirley Temple? Or perhaps Shirley Temple Carson?
-
If Philip chose (and answered) more quickly, there would be fewer clues left on the board. The other two contestants tried to pick up the pace, but it came to a screeching halt every time Philip rang in.
-
I had to miss last night's game, but looked at it on j-archive, and wondered why there were so many clues left. After watching Philip hesitate before choosing every.single.time, I get it. However, I don't get why y'all are so enamored of him. He annoyed me. Though I do admire his gutsiness on the DD wager, on what turned out to be an easy DD that he wasted too much time on. Not gonna lie, I was rooting for anyone else, but would have preferred the woman, since she sensibly started at the tops of the categories more often than the guys.

S28.E05: We're Only Doing Freaky Stuff Today
Browncoat replied to Tara Ariano's topic in The Amazing Race
Was there only one path to the dynamite area and back? Did the second team have to wait for the first to return before going out? No way that path was wide enough for two people to pass each other. And definitely not pass each other and stay tethered to the line. -
All the board-hopping, and they didn't manage to find the DDs until the end! Hahahahaha! I was surprised no one knew The Lottery, but was not surprised to see Scarlett O'Hara's final words in the quote category. But the Scrooge DD was way too easy. Had to think about FJ, but got it near the end of time. I initially misread/misheard the clue and thought Constitution, but then re-read the clue more closely and finally came up with the right answer. I wonder if Katrina did the same thing. Not happy with Gordon, mostly because of his not starting at the tops of categories.

There were a lot of random guesses by the end girl, after such a strong start, too. Oh well. FJ was another instaget for me.
-
I liked it, too. My favorite part, though, was Edie saying, "Bam!" when she added (more!) salt to the spaghetti sauce. The "My beer" at the end was cute, too. I like that Jimmy and Catherine are actually the same person, but they're both growing and learning how to be in a relationship that is more than just a booty call. Gerald and Vanessa can probably find some common ground other than Edie and their app. Couples don't have to do everything together, after all.

I got Sri Lanka, too, but couldn't for the life of me come up with FJ.
