I thought it was interesting too. I've followed the case some but this episode really focused on the victims and learning about them. The part that is still so unclear to me is the account from one of the surviving roommates who said she saw the attacker in a mask and heard crying and whispering. When she saw him, was he inside the house or outside? They never specified. If he was inside, who in the world would be able to close their door and just go back to bed? This seemed like a close group of roommates, I'm surprised she didn't text one of them and ask if they heard anything or tell them what she saw (if she didn't want to call the police). I know it's been made very clear that the others in the house who weren't harmed were not involved and that's not at all what I'm insinuating. It just seems that all reports are really glossing over the survivors. Maybe they are doing that to protect the case, I suppose. And can we please stop with the "he was such a good boy who would never harm a fly" talk from the accused's family??? They could have still issued a statement expressing sympathy for the victims and their families and said they too hope whoever committed the crime is held responsible. I just don't know why time after time the "good boy" defense MUST be stated by the family (I mean this across the board, in almost all cases). Just stop.

I grew up with a family where the Mom would buy things on deep discount throughout the year and store them in a closet. When a birthday came around, she would grab something from the closet. I think this is what Jill does. There's no Christmas shopping and there's no buying a gift with a specific recipient in mind. She goes to the junk drawer and says, "this'll work". Oh, but her gifts better be personal and the most specialist evah!! She's got some bragging and showing off to do! There's nothing Jill likes better than making others jealous of her (self-imagined) perfect life! How very Christian.

I was more curious about the dance troupe the realtor said they both belonged to?! Back to the Tampa episode. I wept for that beautiful, beautiful home. They didn't even seem to recognize that it had a butler's pantry 😔 And that gorgeous windowed room off of the primary that she wanted to turn into a bathroom. The fact that she wanted to put a mantle across the fireplace and cover up the inset feature was the immediate indicator that she had no business being in that type of home. I understand that they had just moved in but I was shocked in the final shots by how God awful messy every room was! I believe a home can be remodeled in an updated way, you don't have to live with everything "vintage". But I just think they likely went full on destruction mode. But "Hendricks"? Come on, did we really need to know anything else?

House Hunters International - General Discussion

These episodes always bug me. When one parent seems in denial that there are children to consider and they are in a different phase of life now - one that doesn't include regular bar hopping and other typical single-life excursions. But I agree, it's all likely completely producer driven. I did enjoy seeing the homes they toured! -
Friday's episode about Kendra, the pediatric dentist, was just heartbreaking. It was just so senseless. I have such a hard time wrapping myself around these cases where the victim is doing so much good in the world and the people who take them out are just low life scum of the earth. I wanted to cry for Ricky, her boyfriend. The responsibility he must feel. I was curious to know more about his relationship with Brenda. There must have been something positive about her for him to stay with her for 2 years and to live with her. Although, they described her as a master manipulator so maybe he didn't even know the real her.

Rachel bringing up her issue with Jessica in front of everyone really reeked of producer instigation. She does not seem like the type to do that in real life. Her continued tears also seemed a bit of an attempt to secure a return spot to the show. She did her part. Jessica cornering Kyle in private in his bedroom made me nervous. I would NOT trust that psycho chick. Exactly! Why is she still so bitter and butthurt over him? For her repeatedly claiming that she's so "over him", I've never seen someone act so completely not over someone. And I'm sorry, she was totally lying that she had slept with someone the night before coming into the house. Again, she said that to try to make Austen jealous. If she wasn't so pretty to look at, I don't think they'd keep bringing her back.

I can't believe it's taken 8 episodes for someone to bring up bucktooth Becky's chompers, so THANK YOU! Are those things real or fake? Either way, I hate to tell her that they kind of disqualify her from this legendary hot girl status she's bestowed upon herself.

The glory of VPR in it's debut was how shockingly un-self aware the cast was. There was no hiding who they were and they didn't even know how they were coming across. And it was "good as gold" (sorry)! These jokers are hyper self-aware to the point that they are trying to sell their own narrative to the audience of who they are. And the sad part is, they are overwhelming wrong about who they are. Exactly!! They keep telling everyone how gorgeous they are and how rich. And yet the only people we saw at home were living in their parents houses? I was amused by how Leva's office seems to be made of plywood and is behind a storage room, also made of plywood? Swank there, Leva.

Everyone phoned it in this episode. It's so obvious that nobody cares about Lindsay and Carl's relationship but there's a need to meddle for a storyline. Speaking of the royal couple, why are they still there? I thought this was supposed to be only a visit? Remember the rule: Lindsay and Carl, like fish, begin to smell after 3 days. Austen, you no longer serve any purpose for Lindsay. Which is why your relationship, that was the relationship to end all relationships, of the deepest level and the greatest love (according to Lindsay at the time), suddenly doesn't seem to exist at all. Is Jason kind of a wet rag? But one that cooks well?

No comments on Madison's wedding? The lack of interest shows how irrelevant she is and I love it. Her feature in People magazine was posted on Instagram (wow - how desperate is People these days?). The comments about her dress were so entertaining! It was pretty but not what you would expect her to choose. I think she's worn more eye catching dresses on the show. And it was quite laughable how she was obviously going for a "demure" look (Mormon standards?) all while her breasts were spilling out of the top. Is this new groom sheltered or something? Who would tie themselves to such a terrible person?
-
I never even knew you could do this! Very, very brave indeed. It was disgusting to hear that they appeared to be celebrating at the defense table. I think there are often a lot of outside influences that juries bring into deliberation. In this case, it was George Floyd and the racial unrest in our country. I know in watching many of these shows, there may be reasonable doubt about an accused person but because it is fact that they were a terrible, horrible human being on many levels - I think I would have a hard time acquitting. Like even if you've gotten it wrong, they've done enough damage to still warrant prison time, regardless. Anyone else ever feel like that?! Every case is heartbreaking but it always brings a special sadness when the victim has been so good to others throughout life and it's said that the person who murdered them is exactly the type of individual that they would have gone out of their way to help. Ugh. So Deyonte was allowed to pontificate for 25 minutes to a captive audience at sentencing? Why would the judge have let that go on? If I had been part of the victim's family, they would have had to drag me out of the courtroom because I would have been screaming every obscenity in the book at him. I usually give Andrea a pass but good Lord, the episode when she was wearing that mini -frilly, flounced dress and 4 inch heels to visit a murder scene??!! Come on, lady.

ME TOO!! The timeline that everyone was waiving around as some kind of "proof" didn't support their accusations. My biggest satisfaction about this episode is that everyone really hates Lindsay and Carl, with the exception of Kyle and Luke. The hiding in rooms to not have to see them was great. Lindsay, you would fall in love with every random dick that crossed your path and now we're supposed to listen to you lecture the audience on what love is all about? And Carl is different.....how?? Oh that's right, the correct way to fall in love is with your "best friend". Which is another term she has frequently liked to assign to various dudes in the past. So no deep meaning there that was reserved just for Carl. Believe me, I've seen a handful of friends also fall in love with their "best friend". Let me decode it for anyone who hasn't witnessed it: It's when a person who can't be alone finds themselves in a dry dating spell and suddenly - OMG! I'm in love with the schmuck sitting next to me who has watched me hook-up with a million randos for the past few years! Please Lindsay and Carl, go ride off into the sunset with your grand love and never grace our t.v. screens again. Poor Jason when he said he went from planning to have a baby with Lindsay to her just never talking to him again. Just more proof that she's a terrible and self-centered human being.

I would say that had to be a contributing factor, for sure. They need to let this poor woman have some rest, peace and quiet in order to appropriately heal as best as she can. Instead, they are constantly bombarding her with "visits" and dragging her around to public events. What a bunch of idiotic morons. But Ma and Pa raised this beast and it was their parenting decisions that lead to some of this circus so they are not entirely blameless (not that Ma deserves any of this). The focus of Kaylee's crown is of course how crooked it is, but the fact that it's smooshing down her bangs so she has to look up from under her hair may be driving me even more nuts!

I watched just a brief clip on the NotNurie's Instagram of a video of Jonathan doing his cousin's make-up. It was meant to be a bit of a joke. I'm wondering if this was the cousin photographer? I was super surprised at how "with it" she seemed, articulate and funny. It was like an interaction between a popular High School girl who was trying to make the class nerd feel accepted. He was awkward and nerdy, but he didn't seem dangerous like Tim. It made me feel better for Kaylee. He was at least trying to have a little fun. It was really just my initial impression since I didn't want to waste too much time watching the whole thing!

This episode was horrifying and I thought the show didn't do nearly enough digging, it was kind of all glossed over and left a gaping hole. I mean, WHO was Chandler??? What was this family like??? The cousin didn't give much insight at all into the family dynamics, other than saying the parents absolutely adored their sons. The family friend didn't offer any details other than what great people the parents were. And then you had one oddball childhood friend who made a few off the wall statements like the fact that Chandler had good hair. Was he a pathological liar his whole life? Any previous run-ins with the law? Concerning behaviors, at all? I just don't know how you go from zero to not only killing your parents but dismembering them as well. I know sometimes the signs aren't there but the show didn't even offer that as a counter. They told us literally nothing about this kid and his family. I guess you truly never know what goes on behind closed doors. As an aside, who didn't see through the Space-X lie the second it flashed on screen......

Not typically a Sandoval fan at all but I didn't mind him this ep! The cleaning up and unclogging the sink was great. He was giving off more of a Dad or Fun Uncle vibe and I liked it. And it made me wonder, who is the oldest? Is it Kyle? Schwartz finally looked like a grown man in his talking heads. But I'm not sure it's going to serve him well. His appeal has always been that of a sweet, lost little boy whose looks match the part. But that personality pairs kind of oddly with middle-aged man appearance. Go away Jessica. You're a fool but now you've exposed yourself as an arrogant fool. Gross.

Pippa's age was distracting but I thought Stephen looked every bit as ridiculous. Like a 35 year old loser running around a college campus. But the winner was the "girl" who told Lucy she had seen Stephen and Macy together at the party. I was so confused by that scene. When she walked in, I assumed she was someone's Mom (or Grandma) and that they were at someone's house. But no - she's a pledge in Diana's sorority! Ha! Speaking of Diana - "the most beautiful girl on campus". All I saw was a Michael Jackson impersonator every time she showed up and I started singing Dirty Diana in my head. My husband wondered if they named her character that just because of her shocking resemblance to Michael! (But I'm assuming that was the character's name in the book.....) The ending at the party was so full of holes. The girls were ending their Freshman year and the guys were ending their Junior year at the climax of the story. They would have certainly continued to see each other on campus and apparently remained close enough post-college (at least with Evan and Bree) that they were all invited to the wedding. And yet the feel of the last scene was like they were picking up the fall after everything went down. Not years and years later. I guess my point is, they were still all hung up on the same issues as at the end of the girl's Freshman year when in reality, they all would have been so far past that. Hope that makes sense.

Me too! Wait until the jawline starts to drop....what in the world is it going to look like then??

Farmgal4, I'm here to back-up/confirm what you are saying. I follow her on Insta too and she is truly skeletal. In some outfits it's more noticeable than others but there's no denying it. On a separate note, Hartford is so adorable that her videos are my favorite thing about Stassi's account. She loves to dance and babble....such a cutie-pie and I'm not even a kid person! I'm waiting for the Toms to show up on Winter House. I think I actively cheer for the cancellation of VPR the most because FI Tom is such a famewhore and so obsessed with himself and the attention that he continues to get from this show, that I can't wait to watch him wither up and disappear when it all goes away. Sorry, I do understand that there are those who like him. A grown man so desperate for attention and so buying into his own hype is just not an attractive thing to me. His "performing" at BravoCon was just the latest example. Katie has done a major glow-up recently. She looks great!

I was wondering about the timeline for the reunion versus filming Winter House. Austen coming in with his jaws flapping about another girl just shows how (despite what he says) he is actually not sorry at all about his past behavior with Cierra. Was it necessary to do that? Especially since everyone now knows at the very least it was a showmance with Olivia and at the most it was a short lived hook-up. He's overexaggerating the relationship on purpose, it seems. And that purpose would be to hurt Cierra's feelings even when he's saying he's sorry he's done that in the past. And whether or not Cierra deserves an apology from Austen, he seems to understand she thinks she does and she does still in fact care, despite her declarations of the opposite. So why would he do that? As an aside, does Cierra have any personality at all? I can't figure anything out about her despite her having been around for a few seasons now. She's such a dud. I guess when you look like she does a personality is not required. I thought Jessica handled things well with Luke. Luke is one of those guys who decides he's immediately in love with a girl ("Dude, I think about her when I'm brushing my teeth!") without even having invested in a full conversation with her. I find that so extremely annoying. It's not about the girl at all, it's totally about him. Body language doesn't matter to him because in his mind, they're already in love and who wouldn't want to be in love with him? Gack. Awww....Jason is far too good for this show.

Are Lindsay and Carl coming in for almost the entire time or just a drop in? Good Lord I hope it's just a drop in because I won't be able to stomach Lindsay trying to rub the absolutely false "I'm marrying my best friend" lie in everyone's faces. Kory - Harry Styles called and he wants his pearls back. It's not working for you, dude. His head looks so small because of that douche haircut he's sporting. Amanda is a danger to all females in a toxic relationship because she's shilling the urban legend of "he was a complete asshole but once he signed that piece of paper, he magically changed into Prince Charming"! I'm trying to understand Jessica. She said she was raised almost in a cult. Did she not receive an education? Was she totally isolated from the outside world? Is this why she appears to be such an idiot? OR....is she playing cute by being the ditzy/dumb girl? OR....is she really just not smart? Because if she's playing dumb for attention, that is literally the worst type of girl to be around. And for some reason, it tends to work and guys eat it up! But I guess look at this group of dudes.....I shouldn't be surprised. Luke thinks he is so perfect and amazing in every single way that there is no room for him to work on himself, as he says.

You can only take suspended disbelief so far! And she even dressed in the same bland, off white pallet as her pottery! Once I set aside my expectations that this was at all going to follow the true story, I did find it fairly entertaining. I'm even fine with the ending being left unsolved. The characters were flushed out enough by then to keep you guessing, and I was o.k. with that. To a certain point. There seemed to be at lot of insertions into the story that were just unnecessary and maybe they could have explained those at the end, even while leaving the Watcher a mystery. If none of the neighbors was truly the Watcher, why the weird obsession not only with the house but also why were they so over the top hostile to its' owners? Was the John List story in fact, true? Was there any credibility to the cult? Why tie in the cult theory to the List family (drained of their blood and the empty bottles)? Who was living in the room down in the tunnels? That part couldn't be figured out? And why the need to end the show with a robed figure popping out of the stairs at Karen?
-
Exactly! I've only watched the first episode and am curious at how they are going to present the story. The house isn't haunted and there is no intruder within (which seems like what this show is projecting). So the only commonality is a family buys a house. I guess I should just forget all about the truth and watch this for what it is, completely separate. The neighbors are waaaaaaay too over the top. Even with the glimpse of them at the open house, I wouldn't have bought the place. As a viewer, am I supposed to not like the couple? Because I don't find either of them likable. Dad's a hot head and Mom's a wannabe artist and a wannabe socialite. It did sound like they read the letters verbatim, which are creepy enough on their own!

In looking at those old pics of Jill and Best Hubby Ever, is anyone else surprised she chose to marry him? If she was anything back then like she is now, wouldn't she have arrogantly fancied herself the catch of all catches? She thinks she looks like a super model. Looks are certainly subjective but I'd like to find anyone who wouldn't label Hubs as ugly (young or old). Sorry, not sorry. He was not the perfect Christian man but instead a total and complete wayward sinner. She had to take a last name that she constantly feels the need to defend (we ain't no Mexicans!). The man obviously has no personality, hobbies, work ethic, etc. He's a literal blob. Was this a forced/arranged marriage? On a separate note, I think the eye brow massacre right of passage is akin to how a lot of us used to have to wait until a certain age to get our ears pierced. The girls are probably thrilled about it. Another reason to weep for them. Tessie's brows now have not only been wrecked but it appears Mahmo is now going over them with a Sharpie for way too dark definition.
