  1. Is this season going to be short? Last season, the first season, was short because there were only 9 teams. This season has 11 teams, just as many teams as it is typically on TAR. Also there are 2 NELs. Therefore, unless it has more than 3 teams on the Final, I do not think that this season can be less than 12 legs, the standard on TAR.
  2. Because Mentos is one of the sponsors of the show. I have to say that Spoons and Mikk are simply amazing. Outside of their obvious physical prowess, they are just able to keep on the front, except when hockey is involved. Is there any all-women team on TAR with as many 1st places as they are? Compared to others, the amount of time Spoons took to finish the artwork was simply, well, amazing. On the other hand, also looking at TAR, is there any team who did the U-turn that ended up getting eliminated?
  3. BTW, I have enough of Revolution and - while I am eagerly waiting its new season - The Walking Dead. Meaning that enough of urban post-apocalyptic world where the government is gone. I want The Last Ship to be, well, the last ship. Go out to the sea, show military systems, procedures and hardware and fight from there.
  4. I watched it somewhere that with the fat content of human body, it can act like tallow. Therefore, albeit the calorific values of burning human bodies are low, human bodies can burn on itself after intial combustion. The water content will just evaporate in the process. One of the most ridiculous things (if not the most) in the series is how a single policeman with a pistol is able to hijack the bridge. That pistol has what, 15 rounds? The policeman is surrounded in the bridge with that many people. All the brave U.S. Navy Sailors are afraid by his threat? They could have just raided him together. Sure, there will be casualties, but they have been through terrorists, Russians, drug lord and vaccine testing. Really, they just stand there and be frozen by a Glock?
  5. They did. His name was Alcide Herveaux*. See what good that love interest did. *I know that Alcide was not exactly human, but he was much more human than Bill was. He could stay in the sun, he ate human food and he could have children with her.
  6. Easy, Meaghan Mikkelson is the hotter one. :-)
  7. It has been my pet peeve with TAR forever that it does not have a reunion show. Survivor has it, The Apprentice has it (sort of), but not TAR. When TwoP was still alive the most I could get was reading the TARCon thread. I am glad that TAR-C has not only a reunion show, but also a mid-season reunion as well as those early eliminatees typically do not get a lot of talking time at the final reunion. Having said that, I disliked last year reunion so much. Not about the program, but about the hosts, the women from The Social. Having said that, I am not very crazy about eliminated teams talking smack behind those who are still competing. Somewhat cowardly, I think.
  8. I think Spooner and Mikk completely overthought the hockey challenge. Any other racers made full stop at the red line after handling the puck through the cones. Then they shot. Not them, they shot when they were still moving forward. And IMO it just shows them as hockey players since there is no situation in a hockey game that a player makes a stop in front of a goalie before making a shot. I love this Fast-Forward. This is the kind of FF that multiple teams can take, and the fastest one wins. In most of TAR FFs, the challenge is done in an environment that only one team can try the challenge at a time. Well, all in all, I love this season of TAR-C so far, and so far it is superior in challenges than maybe the last 5 seasons of TAR.
  9. Well, that was 70 minutes of my short life I could not get back. Boring and makes no sense, if I may say so. Wonder why I spent the last six years following the show.
  10. I know that I am several weeks late, but I just want to make a comment on Spooner & Mikk physical stamina. The dog detour is 1.6 km away from the cabin, right? Spooner & Mikk ran to the challenge, forgot the dog's name, ran back to the cabin, then ran back to the challenge without appear to be losing breath. That is 4.8 km of running. Then they did the harness even faster than Alain & Audrey. Yes, yes. They are Olympians. Not just that, they are gold medalists in a physically challenging sport. Normal people measurements do not apply. In regards of his marksmanship, did Alain not say that he was in the Army during the RCN damage-control exercise?
  11. Unfortunately, those Carpetbaggers are there to stay, at least the Governor. John Allen Campbell is a historical person, the real first Governor of Wyoming Territory and indeed appointed by President U.S. Grant. He would only leave his office on 1875, after being there for six years.
  12. Why someone in the UK has Sprint cellphone subscription?
  13. Last year, IIRC Joe mentioned that the dome is 10 miles across. That gives the area under the dome of around 78 square miles. It is like the land area of Manhattan and Staten Islands combined. So in terms of whether it is big enough to contain all the locales, I would say yes. However, there is no reason whatsoever that people do not realize that there is a dome over them. I also dislike the way the show introduces new characters, starting with Natalie Zea and her mother. When something as life-changing as a dome comes down, would normal people not be looking for information? Edited to clarify.
  14. I am not sure if I will be back next week. This episode is too surrealistic for me. While TPTB maybe want to unreveal the why people are behaving that way slowly, for me it is too confusing and do not see the point of what is going on.
  15. When the soldiers went into the water, my thought was on their shiny buttons, badges and medals. Imagine the nasty stuff salt water can do to their luster. Especially are the medals since full-size medals can not be bought at the PX.
  16. From the shallow end of the pool, I think Anna Paquin's having a child takes its toll. She is clearly sagging, compared to the early seasons when hers are tight and perky.
  17. I do not believe that they are missile hits. I think the CIWS got to the missiles before they hit and therefore they exploded rather close to the ship but still in a safe distance. And I also do hope that this show does not go The Last Resort way, particularly how discipline was just dropped after the very first firing order was given. From what is seen in the first episode, it is more like a Navy procedural, and I like it. However, what is with the Captain and his cover? He often be around, even outdoors, uncovered while everybody else in uniform is covered. That made me cringed several times when he returned salutes uncovered. A big no-no for the Navy, I believe. Also, while he is the CO of the ship (the "Captain"), his rank is commander, not Captain. Is it appropriate to address him as "Captain Chandler"?
  18. First, I apologize for my ignorance. Is the funeral for the dead miner a funeral of a real-life religion? I am just wondering if human being religious beliefs changed because of alien invasion.
  19. I have to laugh at this: Boudreau: "Were you not given order that the President was not to be disturbed?" Secret Service agent: "But we thought the order did not apply to her. Besides, she insisted..."
  20. If a giant can just lift the outer gate and open it, why is the complicated plan with the mammoth? Just have two or three giants to open the gate and hold it while 1000 warriors storm inside.
  21. Ayoye, the House Bolton really has no sense of honor even in times of war, does it? First Lord Bolton arranged the massacre of Robb Stark et al. while they were guests and now Ramsay slaughtered a surrendering enemy under the truce by the white flag?
