  1. Out of topic: is this the first lesbian sex scene on network TV, on primetime?
  2. You mean her career did not soar after Terminator: Genisys? Sarcasm mode on, of course...
  3. Wow, that Prince Charlie is a piece of work, is he not? It is such a shame that he is immortalized as a style of Scottish formal and elegant dress. Was hanged, drawn and quartered not reserved for high treason? The punishment for 'practicing dark arts' (witchcraft) was burning at stake, I thought. It is quite remarkable that even when Comte St-Germain was angry, he kept on addressing Jamie (Lord Broch Tuaragh as far as he concerned) as 'vous', instead of 'tu'. I think I am have enough watching Claire bringing 1945 values and norms to 1745. Can she not try to be tactful for a while? Are they not serving a bigger purpose? The series' fondness of sword fighting amuses me since in Turn, less than 40 years in the future, men fight mostly with firearms.
  4. I thought Emilia Clarke did not want to pose nude anymore?
  5. Being from Indonesia, I laugh hard at the opening. Since when do cars in Indonesia have the steering wheel on the left-hand side? When the actors speak Indonesian, they sound like Stephen Hawking's speech machine. Word-by-word reading with all the wrong pronunciation and intonation. USD 3 million is almost IDR 40 billion. As the highest denomination of the money is 100k, that means 400k bills of money. The bills are usually bundled in 100, so it is 4000 bundles. No way they can fit that in two boxes and a plastic bag. As for the rest of the episode, I know that they are planning the spin-off. But WTF with NBC that they like to spin detestable characters into heroes? For what they did all along, Solomon and Rowan deserve a bullet in the head, each. They have innocent blood in their hands. But no, Solomon is going to star the new spin-off and we are expected to root for him. This is as bad as Sgt. Hank Voight went from a criminal into the head of the Intelligence Unit. Even worse, perhaps.
  6. Quick Wikipedia search reveals that cascara is native to Pacific Northwest. Would it be available freely in early 18th century France and its effect known? Even if it was, Claire's knowledge of herbal medicine kept on surprising me. Did nursing education in WWII cover such subject? On the other hand, was it not known in WWII era, particularly among medical professionals, that consuming alcohol by expecting mother jeopardized the health of the fetus? Was it acceptable, in terms of etiquette and protocol at that time, for a guest in a party to invite another guest without telling the host? Even today I would not be happy if a friend invited someone to my party without telling me. 18th century France and the dinner is done in service à la russe style? Should it not have been service à la française where all the food is served altogether on the table? It is strange to for Claire to say that the evening is too important while she is the one wandering to the hospital and not keeping up with the time herself, attack or no attack. And do Murtaugh and Jamie not understand their own plot? While their guests are understandably upset, they just exacerbate the situation by fighting their guests instead of trying to calm them down.
  7. Ah, Datak Tarr is now Sherlock's arch-nemesis in lieu of Margaery Barratheon (née Tyrell). I agree with the sentiment about super-secret evil organization and conspiracy. Plenty of good procedural shows are ruined by changing direction that way.
  8. While I understand that there is a web series about Alex and Jake and Flight 462, I do not watch it. And it is my believe that the audience of this show (FTWD) do not need to go to outside materials to understand the context of the show. If TPTB thinks otherwise, maybe it is better for me and other viewers like me not be part of the audience any longer. With that position, I think what Alex did was stupid and selfish and it served no purpose. Saving somebody who is clearly injured and incapacitated and dying and therefore can turn anytime over two healthy fellow passengers? Stupid. And with that, I am firmly in Strand's camp. Who is she and what can she bring to the table? As far as he knows, she is just another mouth to feed, another mouth to be heard and her raft is just a drag to his boat. Not to mention that she wants to come aboard with a big baggage, a sick baggage that will take away resources scarce enough for anybody else. As for Madison vs Strand, if Strand wants to go to Baja, who is she to say otherwise? She keeps on complaining without offering any real solutions. If not Baja, then where? As well, her threat to Strand is rich. Suppose that she is able to eliminate Strand, then what? Any of Manawa-Clark and Salazar families knows how to operate the boat? Any of them has any reasonable plan of what to go, how to get there and what to do once they get there?
  9. I have to laugh at the Palace Guards at Dorne. Their Prince and ruler is murdered in front of their eyes and they do not even lift a finger to prevent or to apprehend the culprits. What good are they for, again?
  10. Moriarty? Is she not a little bit busy being imprisoned at King's Landing? :-)
  11. If having the art thief killed is an acceptable outcome of this mission, and there is a concern that by using legal means of obtaining the paintings he will press his pendant and everything will go up in flames, why the team not just kidnap him or shoot him on the head so that the said pendant will not be pressed? It will have the same results, will be not less illegal and will save much more time and effort in doing so. Too extreme? Then why did Zapata and Reade not stop him from getting in his house? They did follow him, did they not?
  12. And I am telling you from my first hand experience, that with ambient temperature and humidity both taken into consideration, the 40C Dubai is much less comfortable than the 25C Denpasar.
  13. Since they have just been to Dubai, it is not that bad. Bali is a lot cooler (temperature wise) than Dubai.
  14. As an Indonesian origin, I am glad that my home country is portrayed in the show. Indeed, Bali is great and I have been to Tanah Lot a number of times. I am disappointed though with Sheri and Cole reaction when doing the noodle speed bump. It is just noodle with meatball. The meatball is made out of beef and tapioca. There is no mystery meat there, no intestine. Why must they be ignorant? Fellow Canadians, did CTV cut the "next week" segment out?
  15. My take is that the whole episode after he buys out the taxi cab, particularly Red playing grown-up version of Home Alone, is just figment of his imagination.
  16. Lame, lame, lame. Did I say lame? LAME! So the Myriad program / device that supposedly be the ultimate, unstoppable weapon can be defeated with just message of love, hope and the 'S' symbol? What is next? Rainbows, unicorns and care bears? And how is it Kara's heatwave is more powerful than Non's? Non is a military man that supposedly has spent significant portion of his adult life for fighting while Kara is just in her forming in the superhero type. To make analogy to human, it is reasonable to expect a man like Chris Vance to win in a fight over a woman like Melissa Benoist. Except of course if she has special training like Ronda Rousey or Katheryn Winnick. The problem is, the show never indicates that. It is just the power of rainbows and unicorns. Kara's promotion from an executive assistant to a position with a private office that is almost as big as my living room? Apparently there is no HR in Catco. And there is no performance assessment either. Since when does a Kryptonian need to breath in outer space (or under water for that matter)? Agree, it has never been addressed in the show, but it is comic canon that Superman and Supergirl are able to fly away to different planets. What else? Yeah, I agree with comments above. If Indigo is such a non-matter being, why can she be torn apart? She could transform to data form when Martian Manhunter picked her up. I also agree with Alex and the pod. How did Alex take Supergirl down to earth? Maybe because this is CBS, but this part of Arrowverse disappoints me. I may or may not continue next season, depends on the schedule.
  17. A bit out of topic: It has been two days and now I realize how utterly stupid the plot about former NSA employee defecting to the CSE. Canada and the USA (and the UK, Australia and NZ) are allies in an intelligence alliance called the Five Eyes. The NSA and the CSE are member intelligence agencies within Five Eyes. Really, a low-level contractor can provide high-quality intelligence about the NSA that the CSE does not know already? Remember that this is not general public (like Snowden). This is a friendly intelligence agency. Then we go to the asylum request. Asylum, or immigration in general, is a federal matter. A provincial judge (as the Justice of the peace) can not rule on asylum. Such hearing must be heard by the Immigration & Review Board (IRB). The process takes time and typically the seeker is allowed to stay while waiting for the hearing. However, asylum seekers from the USA will find it hard to win their case nowadays. As proven by seekers from the War in Iraq period, Canada does not see that the U.S. Government is such a terrible entity merits escaping from. In fact, the USA is one of the so-called Designated Countries of Origin, countries that deemed to respect human rights and offer protection. In reality, after Viet Nam War era it is very rare (if any) that asylum requests from U.S. citizens to Canada be granted.
  18. *sigh* So much bad in one episode. This is a case of the writers clearly not doing adequate research. A simple Wikipedia search will show that U.S. authorities really do not have arresting power on the passengers. As well, that arrangement is clearly posted in the preclearance area, in both official languages, that passengers can withdraw at any time. In Ontario: And what is that that a legal hearing is done in an airport terminal? The terminal does not have extra-territorial jurisdiction. It is not an embassy or consulate. Enough with all the Canadian stereotype already. Blue Jays t-shirt and Quebec flag in the CSE office? The Justice of peace flaunting our politeness and health care? Like, seriously? Is Crouse really the only investigator in the whole Chicagoland? On the casting side, Secretary Durant is now Canadian? And Megan Hilty looks less chubby than in Smash, which is not good. She looks cuter and more adorable being a bit chubbier.
  19. It is a meh episode except for the last part where "Men Shouldn't Lie" was sung. Then it is a LOL moment!
  20. So Lin comes back to her realty business and just doing business as usual? Should her licence not be in jeopardy for all the illegal activities she did in her client's property? Not to mention that she covered up the bullet holes without telling the seller and the buyer? I know that she gets 18 months probation, but that is for criminal court. Should the seller and the buyer sue her by now?And even if there is no legal consequence of her actions, should her business not be dropping by now? She will forever be known as an untrustworthy broker.
  21. While Superman is a very powerful superhero, for that to take effect he needs another power which he currently does not have in this universe. That is, the power of having big special-effect budget... :-)
  22. After a whole season and 13 episodes this is what we get? A big ball of nothing? Color me underwhelmed. As far as cat-and-mouse game goes, on Shades of Blue at least Woz got arrested. Here? Nothing but big talk. Series finale, as far as I concern.
  23. Remember that this show started late in the season because of Thursday Night Football? Then it moved to Sunday and either got preempted by awards shows on CBS or it could not air new episode because there were such shows elsewhere at the same time (e.g. Academy Awards on ABC).
