Franco Harris, like Saquon, is Penn State alum. So not surprising he is a huge fan. Speaking of, I'm pretty sure whoever is in charge of the Nittany Lion's twitter account is the one who actually started the nickname, even though OBJ has been getting the credit. This was the first tweet about it (which I saw when it was originally posted), tagging OBJ, and mention of it that I saw right before it spread. Though OBJ changed it up a bit.

Just binge watched this show recently. I'm not going to get into the in depth debates going on. Everyone else is doing a good job already. But regarding looking old enough for kids - I actually kept thinking Joel looked very young for both Midge and the kids. Then I looked up the actor and saw that he is 39. So good for him, I guess!

The one other thing that bothered me is something they do in so many of these movies. I know I need to suspend reality for these movies, but I still wish they wouldn't throw in the "I love you"s when there is such a short timeline in the movie. I respect the few movies where you can tell there are deep feelings but the couple only verbalizes a desire to date or deep feelings of like or something after the short time. I could even handle if they said something like, "I'm starting to fall in love with you." But to already be there? Of course there are some examples of whirlwind romances in real life, but those are the exception, not the rule.

When I first read this, I assumed you were talking about the Michael who was the other lead in the movie with Brooke in Jingle Around the Clock and was confused since google showed that his wife is definitely someone else. I actually just listened to that episode of the DTH podcast today. I slowed down my listening to try to save some for walking my dog (listened to some sports podcasts and TV podcasts in between instead). Anyway, after listening, I now realize that it was a different Michael who co-wrote it and produced it, not the actor Michael Cassidy. Though it looks like he has acted in other things - think he is Michael Traynor. I ultimately did not like this movie as much as the DTH guys, despite them being right that it was nice that they worked out the misunderstanding about the other male friend right away.

It is estimated to drop by the end of the month.

S03.E01: Uneasy Lies The Head That Wears The Crown
EyewatchTV211 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Victoria
Was it known that those cast members would be leaving and we'd be getting new ones instead? I had not kept up with news of the show. I was wondering where Wilhemina was in particular since Lord Alfred is still in the show, and they had that sweet Christmas episode. Weird to see him with no reference to her. -
I definitely don't keep them all straight. I just remember this one because it's one I liked this year. I was listening to the podcast I mentioned earlier in this thread and they said the name of the movie they were reviewing. The name didn't sound familiar and I wondered if I missed it. But nope - when I looked it up, it was one that I saw. That one clearly didn't stick with me. Up to you. I seem to like some that others don't and dislike some that others like. I liked this one somewhat early on in the movie and continued to like it for the most part, but that doesn't mean you will.

I did enjoy him and would love to have him in other movies. I did not enjoy the female lead's character, so I was frustrated by a lot of other aspects of this movie. But he was most certainly the best part. I actually enjoyed Christmas Bells are Ringing. I liked how they approached certain storylines compared to other movies and I liked the leads. And another interracial relationship (in the background, of course)! It has definitely been hard to keep up with so many movies, especially on so many channels. Yet I've somehow managed to like a decent amount this year. I think I've liked more than I did last year, between all of the channels. Even a few on Hallmark.

I'm in the middle of watching now. The male lead is cute, but I'm not impressed with his acting at this point. It is kind of getting in the way of my enjoyment so far. In the scene where he is listing the different ways to make gingerbread, it sounded like he was literally reading from some invisible script.
-
Ditto. I guess I'm back to being the odd one out. I didn't like Welcome to Christmas. I know she softened as the movie progressed, but Jennifer's character was too over the top annoyed at the town for too much of the beginning that I already checked out. I understand her believing that her plans for the ski resort were better (going with the larger town). But that didn't mean she had to appear physically disgusted with even just the idea of being in the town. And that little hissy fit she threw when she had to stay longer (I think it was when the boss recommended it, not the news about the car). It isn't like she had anything to rush back to considering that there wasn't some significant other about to be dumped or other family that they showed. I watched until the end, but not as closely once I'd had enough of her immaturity.
-
I didn't think the male lead was bad, although maybe I was overlooking the bad due to his cuteness. The female lead, however, was awful. Her acting was bad, and I hated the character in general. Her "growth" as the movie progressed did nothing for me. I couldn't see one reason why the guy would fall for her, so it was hard to root for them at all. Unsurprisingly, there was no chemistry.

Maybe you'd prefer these:

You're welcome. It's fun to listen to them on my long walk with my dog. I probably look silly cause I'm usually laughing or smiling a ton. I was disappointed that the one guy wasn't there for Crown for Christmas ("Panda," I think), because they referenced him liking it, so it would have been him and Bran talking positively about it. With the other guest they had instead with Dan, it ended up being not as fun. I like when they make fun of most of the movies, even those that some of them like, but since CfC was one of my favorites, I had been looking forward to the good stuff more.

Has anyone else here stumbled upon the Deck the Hallmark podcast? It's three guys reviewing Hallmark's Christmas movies, along with some of their movies from other times of the year. One guy loves the movies, one generally likes them, and one guy had never watched them but hates every single one so far. It's hilarious. I recommend. They first started earlier this year with the idea of reviewing every Hallmark/HMM movie this Christmas, but they got a head start with some of the earlier Christmas movies and the ones from other times that I mentioned. They've even gotten to interview some of the actors from the movies, which was fun.

I agreed with all that you liked. I also really liked the scenery, both outside and in the house that they used for the inn (which was different from Hallmark's usual indoor locations that get reused so much). It was pleasant, but nothing elevated it. And it happened so quickly. I saw at the end that it was based on a true story - I don't know what the actual timeline was for them....

S03.E09: Don't Let the Good Life Pass You By
EyewatchTV211 replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in The Good Place [V]
This may not end up making sense once I finish writing this up, but I think there's a slight distinction between the two examples. The podcast addressed the difference between the Soul Squad KNOWING with certainty how the afterlife works versus Doug believing/theorizing how it works. They compared it to the belief in various religions. People firmly believe it's true and try to follow the tenets of those religions but don't 100% know that their beliefs are the real deal. So him doing good things thinking it might help without knowing for sure can still earn him points because it isn't rigged in his situation. HOWEVER, I do see his situation as similar to Tahani. He's doing good things selfishly because he believes that it will help him in the afterlife. This could be why Shawn knows he won't get into the Good Place. Unless it's balanced out somewhat by the fact that Doug is sacrificing his human life for the afterlife. He's miserable now in order to have something great later. Maybe he should go to the Medium Place. -
I'm home during the day for once due to winter weather (already)! Lifetime is replaying their movie The Spirit of Christmas at 2PM today if anyone is interested. It had been relegated to Netflix last year it seemed, so if anyone wanted to see it and doesn't have Netflix now is the time. It had some issues but is one of my favorites. Love the real snow, the lead actors, and the unique storyline.

I felt the same. They just threw in one African American as the minister at the church, but no other diversity in sight. I also normally like Sean Faris but felt like he went too over the top here. Eloise was kind of the highlight, acting-wise. But I just felt like the whole movie was just too over the top. A lot of the dialogue was cringeworthy. This one got deleted right after watching. I did like the ending with the dog, because dogs make everything better. Justice, the dog, was great also.

I HATE this! I love rewatching some of my favorite movies and shows, so I keep a lot on my DVR long-term. When I've moved or whatever, it has been a little painful for me to lose things on my DVR. Why couldn't DVRs be the exact progression from DVD players and be electronics to own personally? I actually still buy a lot of DVDs for this reason.
