The print issue of the new TV Guide, May 18-31, 2015 (Double Issue, with David Duchovny on the cover), had an article about The Flash season 1 finale... -- Barry is questioning what he should do to stop Wells/Thawne. -- Regarding Wells' "catastrophic master plan", they had an "epic 10-page scene with Barry talking to Wells that answers all of the questions that viewers had... It explains how and why everything has happened." -- Some holes are filled in about the murder of Barry's mother. -- "But it's what Thawne spills about the future lives of various Team Flash members that could stop the fastest man alive in his tracks (and possibly also extremely upset some shippers)."

Robert Dougherty's review of 3x23 (he gave it a 7/10 rating) - not quite as negative as I expected, but still plenty of criticism (mixed in with some praise!)... I admit that I was perplexed about Ray transferring ownership of PT to Felicity last week and then Felicity leaving SC this week. The Vulture reviewer brought up the idea that Ray disappears and Felicity's name listed on record as the owner of PT is what brings her and Oliver back to SC. Another reviewer brought up the idea that Ray disappears and Felicity is a suspect in his presumed "death". I think that leaving Malcolm and Nyssa where they are now at the end of S3 is due to some planned storyline tied to Sara's return that the EPs wanted to save for S4A (leading up to LOT's mid-season debut). Malcolm might still get his comeuppance in 4A... here's hoping.

The Supergirl show description says that Kara is 24 - so about the same age as Felicity in Arrow S1. I'm gonna give the show a try, though I'm not a big fan of CF.

Regarding the issue of whether Oliver is choosing to be with Felicity only because he can no longer be the Arrow... Oliver: "Ra's took the Arrow identity from me. I couldn't be that person even if I wanted to be. And I don't want to be. I told you that... I couldn't be the Arrow and be with you. I want to be with you. You told me that I have become someone else, and I would like to... maybe discover a little more about that person. If you'll come with me." I interpret his words to mean that, even if he could still be the Arrow, he doesn't want to be the Arrow regardless. The Arrow is a ruthless torturer and killer. OQ is someone who doesn't fight crime. He's now someone else, he's something else that's neither 'OQ' or 'the Arrow'. And that person wants to be with Felicity. As someone else said, it doesn't mean that he's not a hero. He just needs time to figure out who he is now and what he wants to do.

More from 3x23... Felicity: "Double-double cross, or triple cross ... I'm losing count." Felicity: "According to internal emails, the floor was shut down for a Damien Darhk. A name like that has to be an alias." Felicity: "I know I said I would never, ever bring you coffee again, but the city facing a bioweapon attack seemed like a valid exception." Oliver: "Every night since the mountain, I've had the same dream. You are pleading with me not to go face Ra's, and I listen to you. Sometimes the dream still ends badly; I end up with this sword in my chest. But most of the time, we escape. And we're just driving. And all this seems... it seems so far away, because it's just... it's the two of us." Felicity: "I know you think that that's not possible, that you dead and Ra's dead is the only realistic best case scenario." Oliver: "Felicity... I can't defeat Ra's al Ghul." Felicity: "Oliver Queen can't. The Arrow can't. Both those men tried and both those men failed. You remember what you said to me during our night together in Nanda Parbat? You're no longer either of those men. You've become... someone else. Become something else. This (Placing hand on his heart)... is different now. Because despite your best efforts, you've allowed yourself to feel something. I know you think that that's a weakness; It's not. It's your key to beating Ra's. Don't fight to die. Fight to live." Oliver: "Ra's took the Arrow identity from me. I couldn't be that person even if I wanted to be. And I don't want to be. I told you that... I couldn't be the Arrow and be with you. I want to be with you. You told me that I have become someone else, and I would like to... maybe discover a little more about that person. If you'll come with me." (looking at Felicity) Thea: "With you? Where?" Oliver: "Some place far away from here." Oliver: "My name is Oliver Queen. It is time for me to be...something else." Felicity: "So, where are we going? I'm thinking a state that can annul a Nanda Parbat marriage." Oliver: "Can I say something strange? I'm happy."

Can I say something strange. I'm happy... too. Yes, this episode had several problems. But you know what? I just don't care. After this dark and generally depressing season, I'm glad for the win. So focusing on the positive... Best line of the night -- Barry: "You guys have a hot tub? Nice." (upon seeing the LP) Second best line of the night -- Felicity: "According to internal emails, the floor was shut down for a Damien Darhk. A name like that has to be an alias." When Malcolm starts telling TA what each should do, they remain unmoving ("I"m sorry. Did I mumble?") until Diggle gives them the go-ahead. When Oliver and Nyssa drop into PT, everyone knows to leave Oliver alone with Diggle and Felicity. And Diggle refers to himself and Felicity as the two people closest to Oliver. Original TA - yay! TA's survival due to inoculation (rather than switched vials) works so that they can later track down the "four instruments of death" without fear of infection. Felicity once again gives Oliver the much-needed pep talk that proves key to his defeat of Ra's. "Don't fight to die. Fight to live." Thea dons the red Arsenal outfit (which magically fits her even though WH is 5'5") and saves Diggle from death. (I guess this is her first knowing kill?) She is later officially christened Speedy by Oliver. In Oliver's final duel with Ra's, he ends up disarmed and kneeling just like in the first duel. But instead of giving up and waiting to be stabbed, Oliver fights back, surprises the overconfident Ra's and gets the upper hand. No more 'death wish' Oliver. He's now "will to live" Oliver. (At least that's how I rationalize how Oliver beat Ra's.) Felicity dons the Atom suit (which magically fits her even though EBR is 5'5") and swoops in to save Oliver from tumbling to his death over the dam waterfall. "If I could figure out how to get this thing off, I would be kissing you right now." (Yes, it was a very Pepper Potts moment, but I confess, I cheered.) Oliver finally acknowledges that he needed help from TA. He also finally acknowledges the competence of Thea, Laurel and Ray to protect SC, so he doesn't have to anymore. He retires from crimefighting. (I'm betting it's temporary - but hey, he deserves a vacation.) Diggle is already on his way to reconciling with Oliver. He's probably also getting a costume next season. Heavy foreshadowing there. Oliver finally tells Felicity that he wants to be with her. Oliver smiles! Malcolm becomes the new Ra's. Surprising... and yet not. (I'm betting Nyssa gets her revenge in S4, probably after Malcolm/LOA helps TA defeat Damien Dahrk.) Ray starts working on the miniaturization of his Atom suit. Explosion! No worries. (I'm betting this scene is what was added, plus MG's PSA, to extend the episode an extra two minutes.) Oliver and Felicity drive off together so that he can discover a little more about the person he has become. (Yes, leave SC! Leave all the angst and tears, character propping, OOC writing, and plot holes behind! Leave and be happy!) ... And if it all falls apart next season, I can just stop watching this often frustrating show and pretend it ended after three seasons (with Oliver and Felicity traveling the world, fighting bad guys along the way, and being happy). Question of the Day: What was Damien Dahrk doing in SC in the first place?
