Samira Wiley is easily the most beautiful member of the cast, IMO. I'm glad you pointed out her lips, LiberryLady, because I'm on record as particularly admiring her lips (in at least one or two posts somewhere in the OITNB forum here) and somehow I always feel a little creepy when I zero in on that particular attribute, but I mean...she's got a gorgeous mouth. And one of the most radiant smiles I think I've ever seen.

Man, Jeff's rant about Camryn Manheim was a thing of beauty. So much so I decided I needed to transcribe it. Also hilarious: "I’ve separated mine into three categories: male, female, and Zach Braff."

Re: Scully's hair, I don't understand why, since she's wearing a wig anyway, they couldn't make it more classically Scully-ish. And I don't mean to make a wig of seasons 4-5 Scully hair exactly, but at least a similar color and something a little bit more reminiscent of what is recognizably Scully. This is obviously a super superficial complaint, but...as I've said before, I'm here for the nostalgia and I won't deny that the old Scully look is a small part of that.

Exactly. Exactly. My excitement for this whole revival is like 98% nostalgia. I want Mulder and Scully doing their Mulder and Scully thing the way they did back when XF was awesome. Now, that doesn't have to mean they actually work for the FBI. If they can structure the show pretty much the same way without them being employed by the FBI then I guess that's okay (though it would make me slightly sad not to see them flash their badges at least once), but it seems like the easiest way to make it like classic XF is to just have them back at the FBI. Of course this could be said of literally everything.

I never saw the first Magic Mike and will probably not see the second (definitely not in the theatres) but for those who are interested, a little while ago on one of the podcasts I listen to they talked about the movie Chocolate City and how they felt it better lives up to the promise of what Magic Mike was supposed to be (or maybe just what people hoped it would be). Which isn't to say they thought it was a high quality movie, but just that there was, um...more to see, I guess. No Joe Manganiello, though.

I used to have one of those, but I find a regular spoon easier. But it would be nice if honey always came in squeezy bottles. The honey I get always comes in jars, but now I'm thinking I should buy a squeezy bottle and just pour the honey from the jar into there.

I'm with you, MuuMuuChainsmoker. Everything just seems right when Joe Reid is one of the group. That game time was a really good one. Another of the type that you could sometimes puzzle out if you only know half of the information as long as either the first or last name is at least slightly distinctive. Though I did run into the problem that Sarah and John Potts were having of knowing who the person is but blanking on the name. Or blanking for just long enough that the answer would be given before I pulled the name out of my memory. (This was mostly an issue when it was Tara's turn. She is speedy with her responses!) During the tie breaker I was screaming X-Files, waiting for someone to get that. But I have to admit that even though I knew Munch has appeared on a bunch of shows, I did not realize it was that many.

I find both Morello and Suzanne really interesting for similar reasons. They have very different personalities, but they're both intensely vulnerable and have this childlike sweetness about them. But they also both have very dark sides. Morello with her ongoing obsession with and violence toward Christopher and Suzanne with her not-really-under-control anger, her beating up of Poussey (for Vee), and intensely creepy behavior toward Piper in season one. Plus we still don't know what she did to get into prison. One significant difference is that Suzanne's instability is so evident that people are aware of it and at least to a certain extent she's getting some help, whereas Morello's got almost everyone fooled, at times even herself (or at least that's how it seemed in the past--this season I didn't see that). And I think that's what can make it difficult for people to sympathize with her because it means she's not working on getting better.
-
Exactly. I think it makes a lot more sense to visit while the child is too young to make their own decision, and if when they get older they decide they want to stop visiting to allow that.

I don't know how I didn't see that match coming since both of them had season-long arcs about being sooooooo lonely and wanting love/friendship, but I am totally on board with it. Though I wonder if, once she finds some happiness again, Soso goes back to being her annoying self from season 2.

What I like about Caputo is that for the most part he seems to be just a guy trying to do a job and do it well--he wants the prison to run smoothly and he wants the prisoners and guards treated fairly--but he's also not at all a heroic sort of guy. He won't stick his neck out too far and he's not above taking advantage of a situation for his own benefit.

This issue is being explored somewhat in this season of Wentworth since one of the main characters had a baby this season and has been keeping the baby with her in prison but there's been some thought/discussion of whether to give temporary custody to her sister.

Yeah, I've found Alex/Piper scenes hot int he past but I agree that was not. I just didn't buy either of them as either very angry or very turned on.

NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour did a small batch this week with Glen Weldon and Audie Cornish discussing the show.

So I'd watched the first four episodes of the show before reading your post, Chaos Theory, and was thinking, "Eh, I mean there's sex, but not THAT much." Well I just finished episode six, and holy shit. I was wrong. :)

I started Sense8 over the weekend. I'm only four episodes in but I'm really liking it. Actually, I wasn't really sold for the first two episodes, but episodes three and four hooked me and I can't wait to watch more when I get home. I guess my goal is to get through the rest of it this week so I can binge on OITNB this weekend. And then there's World Cup tonight, USA vs. Australia. I don't have pinterest, but tumblr can indeed be an amazing time suck. I have to keep reminding myself that I don't have to see everything. I don't have to scroll all the way back to where I last left off.

Also that little video features a song called "Lazy Ass", which I feel could be my theme song. So it has that going for it, too. "My lazy ass. My lazy ass. Think I'll sit for a bit on my lazy ass. On my lazy ass."

My first experience with Jenny Agutter was just as one of the actresses the guys in Coupling would reference as someone they had fond memories of seeing naked in movies. I had no idea who she was, so years later when I started watching CtM and saw her name I was sort of tickled. But to this day in my head the name Jenny Agutter is always said in the voice of Richard Coyle (who played Jeff on Coupling). Patrick: Why Helen Mirren? Jeff: Because she's just so naked, isn't she? It's like she's just got to get her clothes off. It's like her breasts are afraid of the dark. When a Helen Mirren film comes on the telly, that's like a guarantee. Her name says, "Okay, boys, you better watch this one with the curtains shut." ... Jeff: Jenny Agutter! Patrick: Oh yes! Jenny Agutter is consistent. Jenny Agutter's like a brand name of screen nudity. Even in Logan's Run, fwoop, for no reason at all. Jeff: Walkabout. Patrick: What a movie. Jeff: Fantastic movie! Patrick: Walkabout is the industry standard for frontal work.

Well that's adorable.

It was in the other thread.

I'm definitely going to try to see this in person.

Yeah, I agree with this. Just yesterday alone so many of my friends on Facebook were sharing links that are very useful/informative for people who don't already know much about what it means to be trans and, for example, how to talk about various issues that transgender people have to deal with. So while I've never had any interest in the Jenners/Kardashians personally, I do think Caitlyn's transition has been an overall positive for the trans community. And for that reason I'm not bothered by news stations talking about it. Though I, too, would be annoyed if it was the only story I could find even switching stations. In fairness, Bruce Jenner was famous before anyone knew the name Kardashian. Famous among a different set, I guess, but famous nonetheless. Bruce was an Olympic gold medalist in the decathlon and, for a time, was a very big deal in the US because of that (it's no surprise this fame would not have spread beyond the US).

I didn't even look at the whole list. I saw Spy and picked it. Then I noticed Inside Out and picked that one as well. I didn't even look at the rest of the list. Now I've gone back and looked, though, and I was aware of all but two (Love and Mercy and Madame Bovary). I'm not sure I would have heard of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl if there hadn't been a trailer for it before Pitch Perfect 2. Also, now that I've looked it up I see that Love and Mercy is the Brian Wilson movie, which I did know about but didn't know the title.
