  1. No, I agree. I don't think of OITNB as having much nudity. I could be misremembering, I suppose, since it's been almost a year since watching season two and almost two years since watching season one.
  2. I consider it a major plus, personally, but to each his/her own I guess.
  3. I haven't even finished listening to this episode but I just have to comment on the gloriousness that was the response to the canon submission. I feel a little bad that, you know, someone put time, energy, and care into making the submission and then I just couldn't stop laughing at how hard you guys all stomped all over it, but...man, that was funny to me. It was just this round and round of, "Oh, and another thing I really really hated was..." Good times, man.
  4. I love OITNB and can't wait for the new season. I agree that it's not exactly a comedy though there is a good bit of humor, but I don't see that as a problem (except when it comes to award categories--but that doesn't influence my enjoyment). If the women's prison framework interests you but you don't want to continue with OITNB, may I recommend Wentworth? It's an Australian show and it's not a comedy by any means so it's totally different. It's in its third season right now and has been renewed for a fourth and the first two seasons are on Netflix.
  5. No, me neither. My impression is that it's pretty obscure. I definitely never encountered it during the run of the show and one of the email lists I was on (I was on at least three XF email lists as well as participating on message boards) had a significant DD/GA shipper contingent.
  6. Eh, the word "shipper", while originally only applied to Mulder and Scully, is used much more broadly now including for/by people who ship real people. I've seen plenty of people use the term "DD/GA shipper" and have since long before I ever encountered the term "snogger" (when did that come about anyway?). So I don't see anything wrong with the use of the term in that article.
  7. Yeah, the Jason Bateman movie. Totally scary (at least in the trailer).
  8. Speaking of trailers, at Pitch Perfect 2 there was a trailer for a totally scary-looking movie, The Gift. I did not sign on for that! The trailer scared the hell out of me and a couple of the other people I was with and I didn't expect to see something like that before a silly comedy. (Granted, I am a total wimp about even slightly scary movies, but still...)
  9. I liked PP2. It was even sillier than the first one but still very fun. My favorite thing (other than the music--I'm really there for the music) was every interaction between Anna Kendrick and the lead woman of the German group. In addition to all the producing and directing (no big deal), her role in the film is a total highlight in my opinion, as it was in the first.
  10. I found that to be just the most challenging Game Time that I can remember. Apparently I'm really bad at visualizing things because I just drew a total blank on almost all the clues. Also I possibly don't pay much attention to title cards (though I'd recognize them if I saw them, I'm sure).
  11. I got my tickets for Pitch Perfect 2 a week ago! I'm set to go this Saturday. This will be the first movie I've seen in theatres in over a year, I'm pretty sure, and I'm going with a group of 8 friends and we (and a few other people as well) will be watching the first one at one of my friend's house beforehand (with singing along, of course). I think it should be a fun mostly-girls night. See Spy instead (next month). Melissa McCarthy, Allison Janney, and Miranda Hart. I am so psyched for this movie. I've heard great things about it and it sounds interesting to me.
  12. Mean something? I mean, they seem to be having a good time, which is nice to see. I'd hesitate to read anything more into it than that. I just think it's fun to see them apparently enjoying each other's company. Also, Gillian dancing and playing tambourine is freaking adorable.
  13. Yeah, it's utter craziness. Remember when David and Gillian didn't like each other? And now she's joining him on stage, kissing him, singing, dancing, and playing tambourine? WTF?! So crazy.
  14. Ha. Probably! It mostly made me think of the Heroes logo.
  15. Supposably didn't originate with Friends. It was just referenced there because it is (and already was at that time) a fairly common mistake. And the reference was Chandler saying that he was going to change his ways and no longer break up with women for petty reasons...such as because they pronounce it "supposably". But you're right that Joey thought that's how it was pronounced. [Here ends my demonstration that I know too much about Friends.] Anyway, I can't say that I've never heard anyone use it as some sort of portmanteau because when people say it I can't read their minds, but I'm pretty sure when people do say it's usually just a mistake. There is a word "supposably", but it's very uncommon and doesn't mean the same thing as supposedly (and doesn't mean some combination of "supposedly" and "probably"), so if people are saying "supposably" in a context when "supposedly" makes sense they are just saying it wrong.
  16. Here's some low quality video. Not much to it, really. Chris just said they're excited to be coming back.
  17. I've seen "smol" exactly once (last week), and it was in place of "small" not "smile out loud". It was accompanying a picture of a tiny kitten, and the caption read "he smol". I'm pretty sure it was just a cutesy way of writing "small" in the sort of lolcats vein of intentional misspelling for effect. It didn't bother me any probably because I'm used to that sort of thing by now.
  18. Well that's a term that I will definitely be adopting. It is not only an excellent word but it's something I suffer from as well.
  19. Yay! That's so exciting! I really think you guys are going to have so much fun with it. I have to say, based on my experience with my Mustang...it's might be more of a dude magnet. Like, I bet Glory could do very well for herself driving that thing around. ;) Same model but different color. Let me look for a photo and I'll add one. Here's my car (that's not me in the photo--that's my sister's girlfriend):
  20. I hope you get the TransAm. It'll be fun! I love my Mustang ('65). It's garaged all winter so it doesn't get that much road time, and every time I drive it I'm acutely aware of how ridiculously unsafe it is compared to modern cars, but it's still fun!
  21. I've listened to two songs (though actually not all the way through in either case) and I didn't think they were awful or that he was awful, but it all just sounds...amateurish. Which is to be expected for someone who's new at all of this, so that's not such a bad thing, just people usually have a smaller audience when they're brand new. Like...high schooler plucking away in their bedroom brand new, is what I mean. So I do feel a sense of cringe-y embarrassment watching this, for example. But also if he's having fun with it then good for him for trying something new and just going for it.
  22. Yeah, that proposal video crossed my path a little while ago and I watched the beginning but tired of it very quickly. I guess it's kind of sweet, but it seems so excessive. Also, the fact that he made the year-long video and then the process of her going to the beach to watch that video was also recorded and it was all cut together...it smacks of a project made with a wider audience in mind than just her. Maybe that's overly cynical of me--maybe the reason her walk to the beach and her watching of the proposal video was taped was just so that they could share it with their friends and family--but...I dunno, it just all feels so very produced.
  23. Easy--by having already discussed marriage and decided that you're both on board for it. By "surprise proposal" I mean it being genuinely unexpected that the person is proposing. Not that the specific moment/method of proposal is necessarily expected, but that it is going to happen at all is totally known in advance. Well...yeah. To me that seems like a pretty natural conversation to have with a person you're in a serious relationship with.
  24. That is so true. I am genuinely worried about that, to be honest.
