Quoting myself to add an update. I subsequently learned from another soap forum that Neil did have a pivotal moment toward the end of this classic episode, right before Brock and Gina started singing America the Beautiful. He gave a lengthy (by today's Y&R standards) speech which seemingly was prompted by the 1992 LA riots after the Rodney King trial verdict. I was able to track down the original episode as it was actually broadcast in 1992, and I watched Neil's speech. I'm guessing the speech was cut from today's rebroadcast because TPTB have to fit in more commercials than they did in 1992. Also, a certain segment of the current audience likely would've deemed it as too "woke;" would've been varying degrees of outraged and offended; and, would've gone to social media with loud complaints. Personally, I didn't like the way the scene was staged and thought it came across as too pointed and like a lecture. But presumably that's what Bill Bell wanted since he was Y&R's head writer at the time.

Yeah, no. It was 1992 not 1792 Dru, Olivia, Neil, and Nathan barely interacted with any of the other pool party attendees Meh: Brock. He was always too earnest IMO Esther in the maid uniform Gina. Of course she had to sing. And couldn't decide which octave to use. Etc.: I thought "Little Philip" was what they called Philip III, Jill's son? it really stood out to me how crisp the dialogue was and how tightly the show was written. The scenes didn't seem repetitive or like the writers were struggling to fill the allotted time. the current Nate is pretty good casting, appearance-wise. He does look like he could be the child of this episode's Olivia and Nathan. did Ashley know at this point she wasn't John's biological child?

Okay, perhaps "objectified" wasn't the word I wanted to use. Ordinarily I'd say it takes three occurrences to indicate a pattern so Kyle isn't quite there yet. However, I think it's possible he's developing an issue with the kind of women he decides to cheat with. We'll see if he's going to try to proceed with Audra the same way he did with Lola. 😉

Meanwhile, though I think Phyllis' clothes tend to be repetitive with the bodycon, bare shoulders, and high slits up her legs, her outfits do generally look good on her. Ditto comments upthread, alt Kirk was like the Jim Carrey version to me too. In-your-face product placement for the cherry red Challenger. (I just found out that particular model costs in excess of $120k. Is this really the audience Dodge is looking for?) I thought it got unusually far into the episode before alt Kirk tried to get romantic with La'an. Even bigger surprise for me was that she was into it. Okay episode, at least better than season 2 of Picard. Needed more Pike. Yeah, that part felt forced to me. The writers tried too hard to sell buddy stuff, IMO. But maybe it'll pay off in a future episode.

That seems like plenty for all those characters who apparently don't merit their own house/apartment/condo. I think Elena lives there now that she's dumped Nate. And what about Billy? He's not at the Abbott manse nor at Chelsea's place so I guess he lives at the GCAC as well. Today Chance mentioned he had an apartment near the police station. I wonder if he'll let Summer bunk at his place or if she'll have to check into the GCAC too. That room Victoria and Nate have been using is the NE corporate suite, which means NE is footing the bill for their affair. Yikes.

Plus, not every woman who has a hysterectomy goes on HRT. There may be reasons why HRT is contraindicated. This show has long had a continuity problem with medical issues. For example, Summer was shown drinking booze fairly soon after she gave some of her liver to Lola. And hasn't Victor had multiple vasectomies, lol?

Meh, I'm not sure he likes any of the actors, or if JG even likes his job. Anyhoo, I think the show took some hits on the way they dumped all the Latino/Hispanic characters (especially Rey) and now they're hiding behind Audra. It's interesting to me though how careful they're being not to identify her much as a Latina. Or so he probably assumes but I think Audra could work Kyle like the tool he is and he wouldn't even realize it. What might be a problem for her is if Phyllis steps in to help save Summer's marriage. Meanwhile, Adam could meet Audra at eye-level and I suspect he'd be bored with her for anything but the occasional NSA tryst. I'd like to see them running McCall together though.

That is interesting because at least part of the time she was in a front-burner storyline. Guess Y&R was cheap even back then. I'm so happy for Sasha but watching that interview made me mad all over again at the way Y&R sold her short in the end. To this day I still believe HK (Summer) had something to do with it. Okay, I'm guessing after watching the news broadcasts which kept reporting that nuclear war was imminent, Nida gave up on life and lost one of the basic civilized human inhibitions. The talisman and Gaap were just ways Nida's mind tried to externalize the loss. IMO she died at the end along with everyone else. Perhaps if she'd been someone with a different kind of belief system she would've been praying to be raptured instead of running around killing people. I don't mind that Brooker started steering the series toward less technology and more horror and fantasy themes. Most creatives try going in a different direction, at least for a while, to stave off boredom and test their abilities. But I think it would've been nice if Brooker been upfront about it. A lot of his loyal followers of Black Mirror feel like they were used and duped this season. If he goes ahead with a Red Mirror series he may not be able to count on everyone jumping on board. I'm know I'm iffy about horror; there were too many times this season--especially during Mazey Day and Demon 79--that I had to look away from the bloody violence.

Either way, Bo was probably going to become a bit of a celebrity herself, as one of the most notorious and gutsy paparazzi of all time. There was a crane shot of the diner again, with the camera clicking sound effect. Presumably it meant Bo did take the gunshot photo because she was the only one inside who wasn't dead or dying.
