  1. Thanks for the info! I thought I had heard the 100 million on another show. Still, way more than the sons.
  2. I didn't like the wife-and found it interesting that in his individual interviews the husband expressed some 'concerns' about his wife-specifically noting that she was never satisfied and was always looking for the next thing. The move wasn't his idea and she even found the job for him so it doesn't sound like he was looking to make a move. I think she felt slighted that she didn't get to do what she wanted while growing up-especially travel. Well Buttercup, a lot of us didn't get to do everything we wanted while growing up. I hope the boys are making friends, but if their gone every weekend they may not be making too many friends. Oh, and I'm going to Iceland next summer-very excited!
  3. Claudia is 41, so not a young chef, but probably not experienced either. She just seemed immature. And, when Gordon tells someone to stop giggling, don't deny it-just apologize and move on.
  4. I think there is way more to this story. When I looked at their website it seemed like they were more of a special events venue. It's really weird. And, I think there's more to the wife/mom's story as Gordon did take it really easy with her (and with the chef as well). I am surprised that when the sons were touting about their social media followers that Gordon didn't tell them that he has over 100 million followers (I think that's how many he has stated in the past).
  5. This is two weeks in a row that Gordon has helped new restaurants. He is helping people who decided to open restaurants on a lark whereas I would like to see restaurants helped that maybe need help after closing during the pandemic or are long-standing and struggling. Half a million in debt? Obviously Melissa just spent, spent spent even though, according to her own words, she had no idea what she was doing. Maybe she thought just having social media savvy sons would be the golden ticket or something. And that "wall" that was originally in the restaurant probably actually scared off potential customers... It just seems to me that if Gordon has to redecorate and reorganize a brand new restaurant that it is in far more danger than anyone can fix. I did like Antonio. Didn't like Melissa and her 'I actually had to use my own money to make payroll (which indicates they didn't use any of their own money to start the restaurant IMO).' Felt bad for the dad/husband who is having to pick up double shifts to finance his family's dream. Or should I say "Kitchen Nightmare..."
  6. I see the glove wrap thing as a total licensing/give away product. Large manufacturers would really bring the cost down. The food industry is so tough to get into. I didn't think the Wellingtons would get an investor but they did get exposure. I really wanted to know how large each Wellington was as they said Goldbelly sold groupings of 4, so they may be smaller servings that the one he cut open to show (which looked to be fairly large). I am so against the whole "AI is coming so you may as well join in" idea. But, I guess there's a market for their product. I am amazed at what the big concert tour tickets cost so am surprised that these events sell out so quickly. Could NOT stand the dating woman. And, as noted by another poster, you play up to Mark enough he'll throw some money in. And, also as noted by another poster, the same things they found 'cute' about her they would rip in another presenter. I don't really comment very often about the fashion choices Lori makes but that dress was soooo wrong for her. She has a short neck and that dress with the raised shouldars really made it look like she didn't have a neck at all. During the earlier seasons it seemed like she made better fashion decisions.
  7. Carmen really bothers me as she over talks everyone on her team. BUT, she knows how to rile up her team and they are allowing her to manipulate them. On the blue team, if someone wanted to show leadership they would have come up with a task that would keep Brad busy and out of everyone's way. So glad Claudia is gone. I know it was probably her excitement that led her to be smiling and giggly when Gordon was reprimanding them, but she didn't seem to have any leadership qualities and was not that good of a chef. I think Jonathon is showing some leadership qualities as he did try to help Mattias by coaching him rather than taking over.
  8. I think the biggest change is how short the seasons are now-almost two weeks. That's pretty significant. It's also why so many participants don't seem worried about shelters, food, etc. There are food rewards every few days and two tribes win some type of food, not just one. The water is a big thing too-Lulu can still drink their water whether or not they have fire. And Africa (season 3) when even boiling the water did not get rid of the parasites!
  9. In Africa they got canned food but had to carry it into their camps. This was primarily because there was no foraging for food. Oh, and led to the drama over someone (I forget who) eating canned cherries or beans while the rest of the tribe was out getting elephant fecal matter infused water.
  10. And, isn't that kind of the concept of, you know, a race? To beat other teams? I dislike the seasons where some of the racers feel entitled to get the same flights, get the answers to the tasks (similar to the first episode when they were all going to solve the puzzle together [in L.A.] until they didn't?), and basically rely on the kindness of others to help them through the race. So, no, it wasn't Joe and Ian's responsibility to help the teams get better flights.
  11. What a beauty of an episode. I think Emily really evaluated the tribal dynamics starting with her wondering why Jeff eliminated Brandon after only reading two votes. Also, the fact that Sabiyah was targeting Kaleb so early (making the same mistake that Emily admitted she made which was playing too far ahead), as well as being willing to turn on him after allying with him sent warning signals to Emily. Sabiyah was waaaaay too confident about her position in the game, but I think her biggest mistake was buring the idol during tribal council. I was surprised that Jeff let her do that, but I think that act sealed it for Kaleb that Emily was telling him the truth. We often see participants trying to play the end game when they aren't even at the merge and that is what did Sabiyah in. Drew is not the "entreprenuer" or "actor" that he thinks he is. I don't even know why he tried to relate his lying to entreprenuership. I see him overplaying just like Sabiyah did and, hopefully, his end will be the same. I am so happy with the 90 minute episodes-I would like them every season.
  12. Have just started rewatching the series (Amazon Prime). For whatever reason, the first season is resonating more with me than in previous viewings. Or, maybe I have a new appreciation of it. Good acting, amazing scenary, etc. I will be starting season two very soon.
  13. This judging panel is just not that entertaining. Their interactions feel flat. I think they are trying, but there just isn't a chemistry there amongst them.
  14. Hopefully Solange will continue to step up and take responsibilities away from her husband. I think her distance from the restaurant really hurt as Jorge wasn't qualified to oversee it. I think Nadia will do her best to keep Jorge away from the service and staff. The cart really is a money maker and adding food will really increase the profits. The outdoor seating area was really nice. I liked Carlos and he seemed really happy to learn from Gordon and perfecting those dishes. In the country club setting keeping a smaller/more managable menu will really be key. I liked the renovation-gave it more of a 'pub' environment.
  15. I thought Carol said 'Rick' during the transmission which then conveniently cut out. And, Laurent's actions seem pretty typical for someone who grew up as the most specialist special snowflake that was ever born. See? Life lesson: let children learn from mistakes and experiences. Keeping Laurent 'safe guarded' really undermined his ability to understand consequences. I thought Norman did some of his best acting during the scene in which he yelled at Laurent. I found the whole kidnapping/ocean cruise plot confusing. But, at least they tried to explain how Daryl got to the French Riviera.
  16. I am so so so sorry. I just have no idea how I forgot to mention this. Mea culpa... So, let's make a deal, if either one of us can get Gordon to come to our houses we'll invite the other!
  17. I wonder just how good of an edit Cirie got on Survivor. Maybe she is more of a 'background' player but got credit partly on what others were doing or strategizing. Oh well. I would like her to be out before the finale as I just don't want her to win. Will Julie spill the 'secret relationship' to the jury members or will they remain unspoiled until the very end?
  18. I wonder if James' 'slow clap' and verbal adminishing of Hume could be used in his defense to prove police bias. Extremely unprofessional and I doubt she does that everytime someone confesses, so very prejudicial I would think. I really didn't like/care about any of the victims (yes, I'm sorry they were victimized but that doesn't mean I have to like/care). I also don't really care for James (again, sorry about the cheating husband but just don't care)-especially as she just seems so unprofessional. She was rude when first meeting her team (and she should be professional even when her husband has confessed to cheating) and I soured even more on her with her reaction to Hume. I feel like I was much more invested in the previous seasons.
  19. I appreciate all of you who watch the nom episode and report on what happens as I am not invested enough to stay up until these episodes air on Sunday nights and I don't want to record Big Brother as I would be so far behind catching up what with three episodes a week.
  20. I probably need to buy some before their prices go up (Mark doesn't get that we can't all afford $20/bag...). And, I appreciate your example about your washing machine-there is flooding may be due to things beyond weather crises. And, if they're never used, then they're never used but it could be a "peace of mind" purchase.
  21. The storm bags were a great idea. I know Kevin said that their competition is "free" but that's not quite so. For the last hurricane/tropical storm that came through the county government was giving out 'free' bags, but kept running out and the distribution centers were remote (and people would have to go from one regional center to another as the supply kept running out/changing). Additionally there is the aspect of filling them with sand which people have to do for themselves and then transporting them back home. These will stay at the house, are light-weight to 'transport.' I'm very interested in getting some but not at the price Mark stated. And I do remember the Paradise Fire and had family members who lost their homes.
  22. I agree with above posters that Jason may have worked in so many kitchens because he keeps getting fired. I thought his mistakes put the whole team in a bit of chaos from which some of the more inexperienced cooks could not recover. Oh, and just a word of advice for giggling girl-when Gordon tells you to stop giggling, don't argue back with him. I get that it was probably just a nervous reaction, but it did look like giggling. Just stop and move forward. Arguing with Gordon will never get you the win.
  23. And, as the two episodes progressed, so did the number of conditions that he has. He added scoliosis this week. His ailments were as numerous as the survivor skills he claimed to have.
  24. I think they aren't showing the woman who stands up the guy in order to 'punish' her and not give her any screen time, but we shall see. Wow are they scrapping the barrel for participants. Only 1,000 applicants? And, they couldn't find an African-American male to match? What was wrong with the guy who had the 7 cats (5 of which were kittens and the other two belonged to his roomate)? Usually they tell us that there were THOUSANDS of applicants, but not this time. Also, some of the people they featured on the show were just...interesting. Lots of doublespeak and word salads. I do hope Jordan and Orion are a success, I like both of them. I am so over all of the condom/dildo hunting. I think the 'experts' like to make people feel uncomfortable. But, I don't like these scenes as the uncomfortability of the participants makes me uncomfortable, and I just want to watch these trainwrecks and be entertained, not to feel uncomfortable.
  25. I don't even understand why they included the pregnancy/not pregnant story. I don't even understand why the hitman needed Magnum and Higgins. Also, I may have missed this, but where was TC's foster son? And, how long has Rick been broken up with Suzie? So many questions...
