  1. I watched A Time To Kill last night for the first time in years. Why Matthew McConoughey wasn't get nominated for an Oscar based on the final summation scene alone is beyond me.
  2. For Hollywood, it's pretty mild, too. I mean, just from the 80s-early 90s alone, we had to deal with some serious reports about Drew Barrymore, Robert Downey, Jr. and River Phoenix (that one hit hard). There are probably a couple more, too, that I can't remember right now.
  3. You are all bring back memories. How about Cheers, Green Acres, Different Strokes and The Greatest American Hero (which you can still hear on oldies stations from time to time)? And since we are talking about movie credits, sometimes I miss a good movie theme song either over the opening or closing credits. Kenny Loggins sure struck gold doing that in the 80s.
  4. I don't watch a lot of sitcoms anymore, so I don't know when this stopped being a thing. The last sitcom I remember watching that had a singable (if you could keep up) theme song was The Big Bang Theory. Sing along opening songs were fun. Whenever I go to a movie, if I have time, I'll sit through the credits because it's a way to acknowledge everyone who worked on the movie and sometimes, you notice fun stuff in there. For example, Inside Out had listed the names of all the babies born to cast, crew and production while they were working on the show. If anyone is interested in finding out if there's mid or after credit scenes in movies, without getting spoiled, there's an app called Run Pee that I absolutely love. Not only will it give you good pee times for the movie, but it will tell you if there are mid or post credit scenes. If it's mid credits, they'll tell you how long after the credits start that it appears. If they can do so without spoiling it, they'll give you a general idea of what it is (ex. for Deadpool and Wolverine, it states that about 30 seconds in, there is a montage of outtakes from previous X-Men movies that lasts about 2 minutes.) It will also tell you how long the credits run. I love this app.
  5. @Calvada most of the music that was used in WKRP was integral to the show and practically hardwired into the brains of its fans. I won't even watch reruns because it seems wrong without the original music.
  6. I like how all women seem to be able to cut their hair into a perfect bob, which, if I'm not mistaken, is one of the most difficult hairstyles to master
  7. Neither do many of the doors, walls and tables tv characters hide behind. Can we revisit (from quite some time ago) parking and traffic? I always read about it in regard to places like NYC, but I was watching an episode of NCIS: Los Angeles last night and they went to a small restaurant on the beach and not only was there a parking spot, but there was also almost no one on the street at all. The reason I hate beach towns/cities is that they are super crowded with both traffic and people and parking is a nightmare. It's a little easier in the winter, but when the weather is good, forget about it.
  8. My brother and I had single sized waterbeds (I don't know what it would be considered in mattress sizes). Our kids have twin size mattresses and we have a queen size. Personally, I'd love a king size, but they're too expensive and our bedroom isn't big enough
  9. I never give much thought to tv incomes simply because their homes, wardrobes, vacations, etc rarely go with what they say about their finances or what they do for a living.
  10. I'm definitely in. It's a show that I've watched off and on since I was a teenager, it's one of my favorite genres, and it just looks really good.
  11. Likd @Palimelon said, I don't think it will be too bad, but you might want to at least read a summary of the first two movies and Logan (although I think Logan is less important because they go through it a bit in the movie). I barely remembered Logan and remembered even less about the 2 or 3 X-Men movies that I've seen in my lifetime and never felt lost.
  12. With the exception of Jennifer Garner appearing in the movie, I was actually able to avoid all of the spoilers this time and I'm so happy about that (although, I'd learned about Elektra so long ago that I'd forgotten about it by last night). I'm glad that, even though I don't have extensive knowledge of the X-Men movies, I was still entertained. I did, however, think that every Deadpool should have had their own Dopinder, not Peter. With him needed to save them, they could have drawn on his quest to be part of the team in part 2 to make a funny remark. Something that boils down to "I told you so" (superpower: courage--his delivery on that one word will always make me laugh). Even though Deadpool 2 had more of a story and even though they didn't utilize his friends enough, I like this one more.
  13. I have many of the songs from Rocketman on my phone. Every time I listen to them, I'm amazed at just how well Taron Egerton, who is not a professional singer, does with them. Kudos to Elton John for allowing them to change his songs to work with the scenes because it just added to the movie, imo. And for Taron to not only be able to bring them to life in a new way, but to also capture the emotion of the scene while singing, was nothing short of outstanding. He is so damn talented-I can't believe we don't see more of him in movies. I've said it before and I'll say it again: It's rare that I remain angry at an Oscar snub, but I'll forever be pissed that he wasn't nominated for Best Actor that year.
  14. I love this movie. I remember the first time I saw it, it was after dark when I left the theater and had to take the bus home. Talk about freaky having to do that after seeing this movie. lol! I happened to be a nanny at the time for a celebrity lawyer and got the job not long before the Oscars. I'd talked to some of their Hollywood friends about the BP field and was certain that this would win. The woman I worked for bet me a dollar that it would be JFK. The next day I found a dollar on the counter. It was a strong category that year, but I just couldn't see any of the others beating it.
  15. I loved Bob Newhart in In and Out. It's on Paramount Plus, if anyone wants to check it out. *If you've never seen it before, keep in mind, it was filmed in 1997, so there are a few things about it that may not be acceptable viewed through today's lens. But, I loved it.
  16. I watched IF this afternoon. I can see why it didn't do well in theaters or with critics. It was way toos slow, especially for kids, and, in the end, was more about being an adult than a child. But, there were some fun moments and some really sweet moments and the message, while simple, was a good one. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it, either.
  17. We can't have her back because she was murdered, but, in Criminal Minds, Zoe, the young woman who was studying criminology in college, was a great character, and I think she'd have eventually been a good addition to the team
  18. I'm finishing up season 9 of NCIS: Los Angeles. I really like Deeks and Kensi individually and love them as a couple.
  19. I agree, and I like The Bear. I'm thrilled to see the nominations for Slow Horses, Fallout, and Shogun. With all due respect to those who liked Mr. and Mrs. Smith, because I know everyone has different tastes (my son loved it), I absolutely hated it. I don't get the love for it.
  20. I saw it today and really enjoyed it. There weren't a lot of people in the theater at 11am on a Sunday, but everyone who was there was laughing throughout the movie. I saw it described as a romantic comedy, which is one of the reasons that some of the critics were let down. Personally, I thought it was simply a light, cute, fun comedy and the romance was secondary. Maybe it could have been a little shorter, but overall, I didn't feel like I wasted time or money on it. It was a nice way to relax on a hot day.
  21. I have no idea how unpopular these opinions are, but: I've finally started enjoying NCIS a lot more now that Tony* is gone. I liked Ziva, but I don't miss her. I really like the new crew of Ellie, Alex and Nick. *What really bothered me about the writing for Tony is that when he was being serious, kind, and understanding, I liked him a lot. I didn't mind the movie trivia, except that many times it came off as silly, and don't get me started on the way he was with women in general.
  22. I'm going to try to see this this weekend. I love the premise and the stars. Early critics reviews on Rotten Tomatoes has it at 71%. Hopefully, there are some audience reviews before I go, because if they're bad, I might just wait until it goes to streaming.
  23. That was exactly the issue with me. I had friends, but I was such an introvert who enjoyed reading, television, and listening to music, that on the rare occasions that I was punished (I was good kid), she actually wondered if it did any good because I didn't seem to care. In reality, she should have taken away all three things. If it was really bad and required more than that, she should have made me go play outside. I was very much an indoor person. I still am.
  24. Jonathan Banks was also a good guy (and very funny) in an episode of Designing Women. I love Beverly Hills Cop, so I'm looking forward to this one.
  25. This sounds like an interesting concept. Story by Vanity Fair: Here: Robert Zemeckis’s New Movie Spans a Century, but the Camera Never Moves
