  1. I haven't weighed in on the Florence Pugh/Olivia Wilde thing because I don't really care, but things have gotten so crazy over the past 24 hours that I finally read a timeline on what happened and who said what. Basically, Shia left and whether he was fired or quit is a he said/she said thing, except for the fact that he aired a video of Olivia asking him to come back and suggesting that there was tension between him and Florence. And somehow, that turned into "Olivia and Flo hate each other!" AYFKM? What am I missing? Did the explanation I read get it wrong? Did it leave something out? It all sounds crazy to me.
  2. I guess a holiday weekend, a major heatwave, and $3 tickets is what it took to get people back to the theaters in droves. The last time I saw our theater complex that busy was when Infinity War and Endgame were released.
  3. We saw this the weekend it came out and loved it. For years now, we've had a friend come over for dinner and tv once a week (we work our way through tv series-two or three at a time) and occasionally watch a movie instead. We told her that when this came out on streaming, she had to see it. When I learned that tickets were only $3 yesterday, we took her to see it in the theater instead, because it really should be seen on a big screen. She loved it and we thought it was just as much fun the second time. In fact, there are so many moving parts that the second viewing made it even clearer for me.
  4. I haven't seen this movie, so the scene itself doesn't have the same effect on me, but I did smile throughout because it's very in character for him. Rocky is, at heart, a good person. Maybe I should watch it sometime.
  5. Man, did I love the first three movies when I was a teenager. That kiss! He was a little too persistent, but yes, at least he did ask, and I have to admit, to this day it's one of my favorite movie kisses. It was steamy. My second favorite moment is in Rocky II when she was in the coma and he was struggling to read to her. In Creed, when he went to the graveyard, sat down and started reading the paper out loud, I teared up. The third one was ridiculous, but I didn't care, I loved it anyway.
  6. I loved the original Fletch, but I'm not impressed with the trailer for the new one. I'm not sure if it's the writing or if John Hamm simply doesn't have the comedic chops that Chevy Chase has. I may change my mind, though, with a 2nd trailer or if it's getting good audience reviews.
  7. The Boys has a lot of frontal male nudity, too. I could have sworn that I heard somewhere that men weren't shown nude for a long time because the censors wouldn't allow genitalia to be shown on screen. But, now I can't find anything on it, so maybe I'm misremembering.
  8. I know that the point of Peter walking out of the coffee shop at the end without attempting to engage in conversation with Ned and MJ is that he knew that having friends could put them in danger, but to this day, I still wonder what MJ's response would have been if he asked her about the broken dahlia necklace.
  9. I've never worked at a fancy, high paying job in a large building, but can someone tell me if it's common for the boss, or someone else high on the ladder, to come down to the lobby to greet you on your first day?
  10. Ok, back on topic. We've just finished Season 3 of NCIS and, while I think it's ok and good enough to keep watching (so far), I haven't been thrilled enough with it to understand why it's gone 19 seasons and has had multiple spin offs. The only character I love is Ducky. I like Ziva, McGee and Mr. Palmer (Jimmy). Abby and Gibb's are ok, but sometimes they really bug me and there have only been a handful of scenes where I've liked Tony, but other than that, I just can't stand him.
  11. In regards to not having to be hot to be sexy, or vice versa: I find Adam Driver to be sexy, but not all that attractive and I find Henry Cavill very good looking, but, imo, has no sex appeal. Chris Evans (esp. with the darker hair and the beard), for me, is an example of someone who is both hot and sexy.
  12. Ryan Reynolds' Clue Remake Gets The Lost City Writer I have mixed feelings about this one. I love Clue and think it's in the category of movies that don't need to be remade. However, I love both Ryan Reynolds and The Lost City, so.......I guess I'll withhold judgement until I see trailers.
  13. I've never seen Gray's Anatomy. I'm aware that this is absolutely ridiculous, but, even though Patrick Dempsey is a handsome man, I hated that McDreamy stuff so much that I can barely stand to look at him because that's all that goes through my mind. Every time I see him, I think "McDreamy---ugh." (Although, if I see Can't Buy Me Love on tv, I don't have a problem watching a little bit because he was still a bit geeky then.)
  14. I feel the same way. I also hate going to forums where there's too much hate because, if I'm still enjoying a show, I start two wonder if my taste is really that bad. Alternately, I don't like it when people think everything about a show is perfect, too. I mean, the Arrow forums went way over the top with the Oliver and Felicity love. Post after post of gifs/pics of them from every show. It got old real fast (apologies to anyone reading this who enjoyed it or even posted those pics/gifs) Honestly, the reason I don't join in on too many forums is because I don't have a desire to have a long discussion on a show. I usually say what I thought, maybe ask a question and maybe respond to a couple of other people. Same with movies--you might find 3-4 posts total in the whole thread. But, if I do jump into long conversations that last throughout the week, I feel out of place because I'm obviously not a regular, so I rarely post anything in specific tv show threads.
  15. This is how I felt about it. We didn't even make it through the first episode--we didn't laugh once. But, when people said to give it about 3 episodes, I tried again and each show kept getting a little bit better until I found it really good. As for Chris Elliot (who I also can't stand--him or his character), I found that they eventually toned down his character a little and didn't have him on quite as much, so he became tolerable for me. I agree-the show was very funny, charming and touching. As for being told to get through the first 3 or 4 episodes, if I'm ever told that, I will try the second episode, but only go on to a third if the second one shows improvement (and so on). If I find the second episode to be a chore, then 9 times out of 10, I'm out.
  16. The first few seasons of Frasier had some great Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes. I started really not liking it after Niles and Daphne got together and stopped watching it not long after.
  17. @Wiendish Fitch , my favorite thing about Belle's pink dress is the cape.
  18. I find this fascinating. Aside from myself, very few family members and the occasional person on tv or in my life, I always hear it. So much so, that when I hear "saNDwich", if I'm with someone I always remark on it. "My God, they pronounced the 'n' and 'd'".
  19. That's probably my favorite quote. I love this movie, too. I pretty much agree with all of the posts so far. I'll add that I love the moment when Jack is cleaning up and changing his shirt in his office and everyone is watching him. The applause and his response to it told me that he was a good person to work for (and not because he changes in his office 😄 ). He's obviously a nice person, with a good sense of humor, whom they feel comfortable with. I also love the final scene between Tess and her new secretary. You knew that she was going to be great boss, too.
  20. Two more opinions about a Marvel movie that seem to be unpopular: 1. I hated that they made Mjilnor a sentient being and that they made Thor treat it like one. 2. I hated that they made Zeus into.....whatever that was. He should have been more formidable and serious.
  21. Sorry-I just realized that I posted my unpopular opinion in the TV section. Moving it over to movies now.
  22. I'm seeing reports that have come in within the last hour that Anne Heche has been officially declared brain dead. I didn't see many of her shows, but I do remember watching her in Volcano and was struck by how beautiful she was. Her beauty was almost ethereal with her pale skin and blonde hair, yet she was able to believably play a tough character. I feel bad for her and her loved ones. Had she survived, I'd have supported charges against her (I'm sorry her kid has to follow up on everything accident related that comes his way now) and I'm glad no one else was physically hurt, but I'm also sad about how her life turned out. They're not mutually exclusive feelings.
  23. I saw it last night and agree with everything you said here. There was a time in the middle where it got really serious for a while, but the shift in tone was well done and didn't bother me at all.
  24. My son and I watched the first season together and enjoyed it. However, we've only seen the first episode of season two because he cant' stand Amy Schumer and doesn't want to keep watching it if she's got a big part. Can you tell me if she in it very much? I might keep watching myself, but, even though I enjoyed the first season, I didn't enjoy it enough to care how long it takes me to get back to season two. I found that season one took a three or four episodes to get interesting, and after the first episode of this season, I got the same feeling.
